Liljeros, Jennifer, Höjer, Frida January 2024 (has links)
The research is motivated by a desire to offer meaningful insights into what shapes individuals' experiences of the fire department during rescue operations due to lack of previous research that focuses on service towards individuals. The study aims to investigate what affects individuals' experiences of the fire department during a rescue operation. The goal of the study is to obtain in-depth insights that can contribute to developing the fire departments work with equal and inclusive interaction towards individuals. The research methodology focuses on capturing nuanced perspectives by using semi structured interviews. Insights through the ten informants of this study have generated understandings of what is influencing their perceptions of the fire department. The result shows that communication, the view of competence, and expectations affect their experience of the fire department during a rescue operation. The findings highlight that establishing trust through respectful communication and competent actions is crucial for creating a positive experience for individuals during rescue operations. Understanding and meeting individuals' expectations also plays a significant role in shaping their perceptions. In summation, this study not only provides valuable insights into the dynamics of interactions between individuals and the fire department, but also offers actionable considerations for optimizing these interactions to ensure the delivery of effective and inclusive rescue services.

Some comparative aspects of corporate rescue in South African company law

Loubser, Anneli 02 1900 (has links)
South African company law has provided for the rescue of financially distressed companies since 1926 when the statutory procedure of judicial management was introduced by the Companies Act 46 of 1926. Unfortunately, judicial management has never been regarded as a successful corporate rescue procedure and for most of its existence it has been severely criticised on many grounds. The Companies Act 61 of 1973 that replaced the Companies Act 46 of 1926 did very little to improve this situation and judicial management remained underutilised. As a result, the Companies Act 71 of 2008 now introduces two newly-created corporate rescue procedures in the form of business rescue proceedings and the compromise with creditors. This study analyses judicial management and the new corporate rescue procedures to establish whether the identified weaknesses of judicial management have been adequately and effectively addressed in the new procedures. A comparative study with similar procedures in England and Germany is undertaken to determine whether the South African legislature has delivered on its promise to create a system of corporate rescue that will meet the needs of a modern South African economy. Several weaknesses in the new procedures are identified and a number of recommendations are made to improve the relevant provisions and to assist in providing South African company law with an efficient and acceptable corporate rescue regime. / Mercentile Law / LLD (Mercentile Law)

Šetření vybraných parametrů výjezdů Hasičského záchranného sboru k dopravním nehodám v Jihočeském kraji / Statistic Review of Parameters of Fire Rescue Service's Interventions in Traffic Accidents in South Bohemia

PETRŮV, Josef January 2016 (has links)
Fire Rescue Service is territorialized in each region, which means that Fire Rescue Service is present in each region of the Czech Republic as an individual accounting entity. Each accounting entity is obliged to prepare own budget estimate for next year which serves for covering costs related to interventions. Therefore it is beneficial to have an overview about the number of interventions expected in following year. The prediction of the expected interventions should be based utmost on real data from the the last period. Fire Rescue Service units' interventions in traffic accidents are covered from the state budget as well as other performances. The thesis is concerning the statistic survey related to Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents. Specified goals of the thesis: G1) The survey of the development in time of the number of traffic accidents associated with South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents within one month as the unit of time during the last 5 years. It is considered as the survey of the first of selected parameters concerning Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents in the South Bohemia region. G2) The survey of the development in time of costs associated with South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents within one month as the unit of time during the last 5 years. It is considered as the survey of the second of selected parameters related to Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents in the South Bohemia region. G3) The comparison of the number of interventions and costs, the investigation of the apportionment of the number of interventions and costs in terms of a proper theoretical apportionment. It is considered as the survey concerning the dependence of selected parameters of Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents in the South Bohemia region. With regard to a relativelly high number of primary data (entries from about 8 000 traffic accidents in the time period between 7/2010 and 6/2015 in the South Bohemia region, where was always present at least one unit of the South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service), mathematical statistic tools were needed to create a survey of selected parameters of the data file. Determining intervals for individual statistic features is to some extent carried out "by feeling". With regard to it, there was done the sensitivity analysis within which was investigated the influence of minor changes in the number of intervals on apportionment of percent occurrences of monitored statistical features (intervals were determined "by feeling" and based on recommendation from technical literature). For investigation of statistical features were used description statistics and also methods of statistical induction. The information used from technical literature and the interpretation of partial results and conclusions concerning individual sections of the thesis are provided in the section Discussion. The thesis demonstrated that the empirical apportionment of the number of traffic accidents and costs on South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service's interventions in traffic accidents can be considered as standard. Therefore it is correct to use theoretical findings associated with standard apportionment to work with those data. Also the thesis demonstrated that the number of traffic accidents and costs associated with South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service's interventions not only does not decrease but on the contrary increases. It was demonstrated that there is present very high positive correlation between numbers of the traffic accidents and the costs related to South Bohemia Fire Rescue Service's interventions in single months of the monitored time period. This brings us to a conclusion that the increase of costs related to interventions is caused mainly by the increase of the number of traffic accidents where the units of Fire Rescue Service intervene.

Typové činnosti složek IZS při společném zásahu z pohledu ZZS / Model Activities of the Integrated Rescue System Forces in Joint Actions from the Point of View of the Emergency Medical Service

KRÁL, Václav January 2011 (has links)
A set of documents, called the Index of Model Activities of the Integrated Rescue System Forces was compiled to improve coordination of these forces. The Index describes organizational procedures of the IRS forces during ten cases of emergency. However, are members of basic IRS forces familiar with these documents? Are the IRS workers aware of procedures and needs of the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) staff? The objective of this thesis is to survey views and findings of the IRS workers regarding the above mentioned issues, evaluate possibilities to improve knowledge of these issues.

Připravenost civilního obyvatelstva poskytnout první pomoc při vzniku mimořádné události / Awareness of civilian population to give first aid upon occurence of emergency event

ULBRICHOVÁ, Dagmar January 2011 (has links)
First aid represents the first and extremely important stage in the emergency medical procedure. The necessity to provide first aid may arise at any time as the current modern era poses numerous new risks which may cause many extraordinary events with consequences for individuals and groups of people or even for entire populations. Therefore the professional training of the population should stress first aid as it may reduce vulnerability and improve resistance of the population against extraordinary events, the number of which keeps growing. The objective of the thesis was to assess whether the civilian population is prepared to provide first aid in case of an extraordinary event. The research methods to meet the mentioned objective and to obtain the information necessary for results processing included a questionnaire and analytical examination. The questionnaire consisted of 15 previously prepared questions. The questions in the questionnaire were divided into four parts based on specific formulated objectives. The questionnaire survey was conducted in the South Bohemian region in the town of Tábor. The target group consisted of 250 respondents of both sexes, selected at random in four different age categories. The first group of respondents consisted of respondents aged 10- 20, the second category 20- 40, the third category 40- 60 and the last one consisted of respondents over 60 years of age. The preparedness of the population was examined at three levels, i.e. at the level of knowledge, level of emotions and experience level and the level of motivation. The formulated hypothesis: ?Civilian population is ready to provide first aid in agreement with applicable first aid standards? has been confirmed only partly at those three levels. The thesis also produced some secondary results concerning assessment of vulnerability and resistance of the population during the provision of first aid under extraordinary circumstances. One of the secondary outcomes was a finding that seniors seem to be by far most vulnerable and, on the contrary, the category aged 20- 40 seems to be the most resistant. Within the possibilities and scope of my thesis I have attempted to contribute to identification of important aspects that potentially influence the willingness of people to provide first aid and to highlight the importance of first aid training.

Činnost Policie České republiky jako základní složky integrovaného záchranného systému u vybraných mimořádných událostí. / Aktivity of the Police of the Czech Republic as a besic unit of the Integrated Rescue Systém for extraordinary incidents.

JILEČEK, Michal January 2011 (has links)
The thesis at hand analyzes the activities of the Police of the Czech Republic, a fundamental component of the Integrated Rescue System, on the level of tactical control while intervening in selected emergency situations. The theoretical part includes an analysis of available legal standards and documents related to the activities of the police while carrying out rescue and salvage operations. The empirical part comprises of qualitative and quantitative researches done in a specific sample of respondents. The first research corpus was involved in structured interviews that were held with chiefs of the executive bodies of the police; the second research corpus was involved in a questionnaire survey that was carried out in a sample of policemen performing the direct service. The survey reveals the level of awareness of the policemen with the issues relating to the Integrated Rescue System. The outcomes of the survey are shown in graphs. The thesis concludes that there is no systematic training of the police officers and police employees working for the Police of the Czech Republic and it offers alternative solution of the training method to be employed when explaining issues associated with the Integrated Rescue System at the workplace and while the work is in progress

Weather Station : Design of a portable & self-sufficient weather station for the Swedish Sea Rescue Society

Näsström, Max January 2018 (has links)
The Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) is a non-profit organization that performs sea rescue operations around Sweden’s coast line and lakes. In their sea rescue work, they came up with an idea that could be used to prevent accidents that are caused by harsh weather. According to Trafikverket, two out of three accidents at sea can be related to bad weather. Today, the SSRS have a weather application that you can download and note the weather where the different national weather stations are located. The data for this application is gathered from SMHI and YR.no. The SSRS wants to complement this data with their own weather measurements from specific places in e.g. the archipelago. To be able to do this they want to develop a portable and self-sufficient weather station. The weather station will be overseen by the SSRS rescue personnel, who will transporting and installing the weather station onto specific place. The weather station shall express the SSRS design profile, blend into the environment, and be easy to transport and install. The SSRS doesn’t have any prior products of that sort, and through a market study of competing or similar products / ideas, it became clear that this product would be innovative. By studying the environment which the weather station will be placed and faced with, and who the different users are and their requirements, a requirement framework was established which the end result would need to fulfil.  Through different methods and analysis of what people from different background think and feel about the archipelago, a joint view of what the archipelago associates with was established in order for the weather station to be designed to t into the desired environment. Studies and innovation around technical functions that the weather station should be able to perform, have led to different design restrictions in order for the weather station to be able to work. The end result of the project is a concept of a self-sufficient and portable weather station, making it possible to be transported and installed by one person. The design of the weather station has been made to make it blend into the environment and up close be able to identify as a product of the SSRS. The design has also been made to be user friendly for those handling it.

Minhund och en elektronisk nos för detektion av minor : utifrån den militära nyttan vid en undsättningsinsats / Mine detection dog and an electronic nose for landmine detection : on the basis of the military utility in a mine rescue team operation

Linfeldt, Anna January 2013 (has links)
Landmines pose a threat to the civilian population but personnel in peacekeeping operations could also be harmed by landmines during patrols in the area. Today the Swedish Armed Forces use mine detection dogs to locate landmines. The mine detection dogs are used in combination with prodders and metal detectors. The dogs have their limitations and there have been several attempts to phase them out and replace them with technology. Substances detected by dogs and electronic noses, the mine detection dog and the electronic dog nose Fido are described and incorporated in an analysis where advantages/disadvantages are presented and then discussed. Military utility in a military context constitute the frame of the essay. The military context is an operation with a mine rescue team to rescue an injured person in a mine field. In a rescue operation with a mine rescue team the most important thing is to locate, mark and avoid the landmines. The dog can locate landmines but the electronic nose Fido cannot. The chemical signatures from the landmines overlap each other making it difficult for Fido to pinpoint the exact location. Fido can confirm the presence of landmines in an area which does not have military utility during mine rescue team operations to find a free path and rescue an injured person out from a minefield.
