This construct constitutes a process of preventive and multidimensional present in all stages of human development. During this development, it has been immersed in the elderly biopsychosocial changes resulting from the aging process. In this sense, there was a need for a multidisciplinary study, combining psychology, medicine, nursing, social work and gerontology in order to check the resilience, its risk factors, such as life events and health, and protection, such as self-esteem and social support. For this, we performed a descriptive exploratory study of cross-sectional nature, along with a convenience sample consisting of 65 elderly users of the public health of the district east of the city of Natal/RN, Brazil. This research allowed the collection of socio-demographic, economic, relational, physical, biological and psychological in understanding the aging process. It is observed that the studied sample socio-economic status and chronic health conditions in their own lives and their families, that demand for care and attention every day, are resilient, have faced significant losses, have positive self-esteem and social support perceived as external satisfactory. Given this multidimensional nature, the aging process deserves the attention of many professionals and health policies, seeking provide to the elderly a better living conditions and mechanisms that promote well-being and health / A resili?ncia consiste em uma capacidade para se adaptar ou superar situa??es de risco, a partir do aux?lio de fatores protetores. Esse constructo se constitui em um processo de car?ter preventivo e multideterminado presente em todas as etapas do desenvolvimento humano. Durante esse desenvolvimento, tem-se o idoso imerso nas modifica??es biopsicossociais decorrentes do processo de envelhecimento. Nesse sentido, observou-se a necessidade de realizar um estudo multidisciplinar, aliando a Psicologia com a Medicina, a Enfermagem, o Servi?o Social e a Gerontologia, com o objetivo de verificar a capacidade de resili?ncia, seus fatores de risco, tais como eventos vitais e condi??es de sa?de, e de prote??o, tais como auto-estima e apoio social. Para isso, realizou-se um estudo descritivo explorat?rio, de car?ter transversal, junto a uma amostra de conveni?ncia constitu?da por 65 idosos usu?rios da rede p?blica de sa?de do distrito sanit?rio leste do munic?pio de Natal/RN, Brasil. Essa investiga??o possibilitou a obten??o de dados s?cio-demogr?ficos, econ?micos, relacionais, f?sicos, biol?gicos e psicol?gicos para compreender o processo de envelhecimento. Percebe-se que a amostra estudada apresenta n?vel s?cio-econ?mico baixo e condi??es cr?nicas de sa?de em suas pr?prias vidas e em suas fam?lias, que demandam por cuidados e aten??o di?ria, s?o resilientes, j? enfrentaram perdas significativas, possuem auto-estima positiva e apoio social externo percebido como satisfat?rio. How methodological procedure,we worked with oral history of life, ,according Meihy, within a qualitative approach. For this, we had the approval of the Ethics Committee in Research of Hospital Universit?rio Onofre Lopes (HUOL), under protocol no 591/2011. As instrument to approach the patient, we did interviews with open questions, conducted in the patient's house. There were five meetings, in which we hear his story, experiences and ways of coping during their course of illness and treatment. The analysis was based on the collaborator's narratives, anchored in studies dealing with oral history, of human subjectivity, highlighting the resilience, as indicated Cyrulnik. Her story leads us to conclude that despite the adversities of life and suffering, there is in humans, the strength to navigate the streams and be happy. This is the lesson that leaves us the collaborator this study. / Reconstruir, a partir da escuta, a trajet?ria de vida de uma paciente renal cr?nica, submetida ao tratamento hemodial?tico, constitui o objetivo desta investiga??o. Como procedimento metodol?gico, trabalhamos com a hist?ria oral de vida, conforme Meihy, dentro de uma abordagem qualitativa. Para isto, tivemos a aprova??o do Comit? de ?tica em Pesquisa, do Hospital Universit?rio Onofre Lopes (HUOL), sob protocolo de n?. 591/2011. Como instrumento de abordagem da paciente, fizemos entrevistas com quest?es abertas, realizadas na casa da paciente. Foram cinco encontros, nos quais escutamos sua hist?ria, experi?ncias e formas de enfrentamento, durante sua trajet?ria de adoecimento e tratamento. A an?lise foi pautada nas narrativas da colaboradora, ancorada em estudos que tratam da hist?ria oral, da subjetividade humana, com destaque para a resili?ncia, conforme assinala Cyrulnik. Sua hist?ria nos leva a concluir que, apesar das adversidades da vida e do sofrimento, existe, no ser humano, a for?a de navegar nas torrentes e conseguir ser feliz. Essa ? a li??o que nos lega a colaboradora deste estudo.
