Orientador: Jose Suassuna Filho / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Fisica Gleb Wataghin / Made available in DSpace on 2018-07-17T03:32:32Z (GMT). Os resultados de RPE nestas séries de compostos foram analisados em termos do modelo de multibandas em metais, proposto anteriormente por Barberis e outros (1979) para explicar o comportamento dos parâmetros de Ressonância em compostos intermetálicos do tipo fase de Laves AB2 / Abstract: Proton pulsed Nuclear Magnetic Resonance measurements were performed on the metallic hydridesZrCr2Hx (x = 2, 3, 4) and ZrV2Hy (y = 2, 3, 4, 5) as a function of temperature between 180 and 400 K. The ultimate aim was the investigation of the relaxation mechanisms in these systems by means of the measurement of both the proton (1H) spin-lattice (T1) and spin-spin (T2) relaxation times and to use these data to obtain information about the diffusive motion of the hydrogen atoms. The diffusional activation energies, the jump frequencies and the Korringa constant, Ck, related with the conduction electron contribution to the 1H relaxation were determined for the above hydrides as a function of hydrogen concentration. Our results were analyzed in terms of the relaxation models described by Bloembergen, Purcell and Pound (BPP models) and by Torrey. The Korringa type relaxation due to conduction electrons in metallic systems was also used to interpret the experimental results. We also present the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) study of Gd3+, Nd3+ and Er3+ ions a impurities in several AB3 intermetallic compounds were A = La, Ce, Y, Sc, Th, Zr and B = Rh, Ir, Pt. The results were analyzed in terms of the multband model previously suggested to explain in the behavior of the resonance parameter in AB2 Laves Phase compound / Mestrado / Física / Mestre em Física

We report photothermally modulated ferromagnetic resonance (PM-FMR) results for ferromagnetic alloys of the type R2Fe17, where R = Pr, Gd and Nd. For the Nd2Fe17 alloy, ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) results were also obtained. For this sample, calculations for the ferromagnetic resonance signal with the magnetization in the non-saturated regime are presented. A theorical model to describe the FMR and PM-FMR spedtra of this material (R = Nd) in the form of a non-oriented pressed powder is discussed and fair agreement between experimental and calculated spectra is obtained. Our own numerical values of magnetization obtained over a wide temperature range are used for the PM-FMR signal calculation as well as the resonance field and the linewidth from our FMR experiments / Mestrado / Física / Mestre em Física

The present study had as objectives to verify the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders signs anel symptoms and TMJ structural changes, verified io Magnetic Resonance images, establishing correlation between these and the clínical signs and symptoms. O objetivo foi o de analisar se o aparelho Twin-Block, produziu alteração no posicionamento do disco-côndilo e da fossa mandibular-côndilo, utilizando IRM / Abstract: The purpose of this study was to verify the possible structural changes in the position of the articular disk in relation to the condyle and the fossa with the condyle, on patients who had malocclusion Class II 1 st. Division of Angle, during different phases with therapy using the functional appliance Twin-Block, utilizing images obtained from sagittal slice of magnetic resonance imaging. The TMJ were analyzed in tive occasions: TO - Closed and opened mouth at the beginning of the treatment, TI - At the beginning ofthe treatment immediately after the placement of the Twin-Block, and T2 - at the end of the treatment with the mouth closed and opened. There was an alteration of the condyle-fossa and of the disk-condyle at the TO period to the TI period, at the beginning of the treatment when the jaw was forwarded around 4 mm. The appliance Twin-Block produced jaw growth, at the end of the treatment (T2) all of the disks had retumed to its pre-treatment position. There was a preservation of the space jaw condyle-fossa and of the TMJ structures. The treatment, in general, did not alter any adverse or pathological in the position of the articular disk, on the contrary, the application of the Twin-Block can be useful, giving back the equilibrium of the TMJ structures and oclusal, within the facial standards. The objective was to have analyzed if the Twin-Block appliance, produced alteration in the positioning of the condyle-disk and of the condyle-jaw fossa, utilizing MRI / Doutorado / Doutor em Ortodontia

Esclerose multipla : correlação clinica, liquido cefalorraquiano e neuroimagem

Maciel, Ernane Pires 08 September 2003 (has links)
Orientador: Benito Pereira Damasceno / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-03T17:04:37Z (GMT). The clinical evolutive sequence can take the relapsing-remitting, secondarily progressive and primary progression forms. Diagnosis is based on the evolutive clinical manifestations, supported by cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), visual evoked responses, brain and spinal cord magnetic resonance images, with exclusion of other inflammatory or infectious diseases. The CSF analysis in MS shows lymphocyte and monocytes pleocytosis, increase in intrathecal immunoglobulin G (IgG) synthesis and the presence of oligoclonal bands. The albumin quotient is seldom changed in the disease. Magnetic resonance imaging (MR) shows hyperintensities in T2 weight, proton density (PD) and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images and hypointensity in T1 weight images, in the cerebral white matter, optic nerves, brainstem and spinal cord . The acute lesions show enhancement with contrast. The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the correlations between the number of cells in the liquor, the IgG index, the daily intrathecal IgG synthesis, the presence of oligo-clonal bands with: the lesion volume in FLAIR, T1 and T1 with contrast and with the lesion area in contact with the CSF space in FLAIR, T1 and T1 with contrast and the degree of disability measured by EDSS (Kurtzke¿s expanded disability scale), clinical forms, duration of the disease, race and age of patients. Seventy-one patients with clinically defined multiple sclerosis, according to Poser's criteria, had CSF analysis done with cell counting, IgG and albumin dosage by means of nephelometry and calculation of the IgG index, the daily IgG intrathecal synthesis and the albumin quotient. The clinical data: age, race, duration of the disease, clinical form and EDSS were defined after anamnesis and neurological examination. The volume of lesions in FLAIR, T1 and T1 with contrast was measured by means of stereology. The lesion area in contact with the CSF space was calculated measuring manually the extension of the injured area on the ventricular wall, on the external surface of the brainstem and on the cerebral cortex and multiplying this figure by the thickness of the slices. Of the 71 patients, 62 of them were examined by brain MR with images in FLAIR, 56 patients had images in T1 without contrast analysed and 26 patients, T1 with contrast. The results showed a higher age average in the progressive forms, a greater IgG index in the relapsing-remitting form, a higher frequency of the exclusive oligoclonal bands in the CSF, in the cases with a greater daily intratechal synthesis of IgG. The greater the EDSS, the higher was the albumin quotient and the daily synthesis of IgG. The lesion area that contacts the CSF space was directly proportional to the albumin quotient, what suggests that the lesion areas around the CSF system determine a greater input of albumin, but not IgG, in the CSF system / Doutorado / Neurologia / Doutor em Ciências Médicas

Forty two patients were examined within the third and fourth weeks, and in one case, in the fourth month afier a stroke. Ali the lesions were documented by Magnetic Resonance Imaging. In three patients the neuro imaging revealed two lesions per patient, one in each cerebral hemisphere. Thus a total of 46 lesions were analysed. The results were compqred to a control group with the same average age, sex and height. This study was divided into two stages. 111 the first part of this work we analysed the alterations ofthe N30, P45, N60 potentials in case of cerebrallesions, which were divided into six groups: thalamusl internal capsule; internal capsule; thalamusl interna.l, capsulel basal ganglia; internal capsulel basal ganglia; cortexl basal ganglia and cortex. The most frequently finding was the absence of the three potentials in ali groups but the internal capsule, followed by an increase in latency. On the other hand, in most cases, when early N20 potential was absent, the other tree potentials were also absent. This study suggests that N20 and the middle latency potentials are of cortical origin, since the absence of the potentials was found from the thalamus up to the cortex. In the second part of this work a statistical correlation was studied between the N20 and the middle latency potentials. The results suggests that each potential has its own generator within the' cortex and receives a significant influence from the generator of the N20 through projections of this generator via corticocortical connections. We also observed alterations in the middle pqtentials, and preserved N20, in only two cases in thalamic lesions outside the ventro-postero-Iateral nucleus; this may imply that other thalamic nucleus can have some influence on the generators of the middle latency potentials / Doutorado / Doutor em Neurociencias
