Num contexto marcado pela inexistência de um campo intelectual autônomo, o autor em estudo foi um exemplo típico do letrado, pois atuou como professor, jornalista, publicista e literato enfim, um homem de letras no rigor da expressão. Entretanto, a imagem preponderante que se cristalizou dele foi a de autor de um romance considerado obsceno A Carne (1888) , elaborada por seus coetâneos e perpetuada na memória histórica. No presente trabalho, busca-se ultrapassar esse rótulo estigmatizador, privilegiando o conjunto de seus escritos os quais contêm importantes marcas de sua trajetória e, além de permitirem alcançar uma visão menos restrita da atuação do autor, possibilitam reconstituir suas relações sociais no universo letrado. Júlio Ribeiro comungou das experiências dos contestadores do regime imperial da geração de 1870, em especial do grupo de republicanos paulistas; mas, por questões pessoais e políticas, passou a integrar a dissidência do PRP (Partido Republicano Paulista). Dessa divergência, resultaram altercações com Alberto Sales na imprensa da província de São Paulo. Ambos fizeram do repertório científico/ilustrado seu instrumento de combate. Em síntese, no exame empreendido neste estudo, Júlio Ribeiro constitui mais um objeto de estudo do que um guia de análise da sociedade paulista da segunda metade do século XIX. / This thesis aims to elaborate a conjugated analysis of Júlio Ribeiro's path based on his practices in the letters field and in his social relationships in the State of São Paulo, between the 1870 s and 1890 s. In a context marked by the absence of an autonomous literate field, the author studied was a typical example of the scholar, as he worked as a teacher, a journalist, a publicist and a fictionist in a word, he was a man of letters in the strict sense of the word. However, the preponderant image that crystallized of him was that of the author of a novel reckoned obscene A Carne (Carnality - 1888) , elaborated by his contemporaries and perpetuated in the historical memory. The present work also seeks to surpass that stigmatizing label, privileging his writings as a whole which contain important traits of his path and, as they allow to get a less restricted vision of the author's performance, make possible to reconstitute his social relationships in the literate universe. Ribeiro shared in the experiences of the imperial regime s opponents from the generation of the 1870 s, particularly the republican group from São Paulo; however, for personal and political reasons, he moved on to the dissidence of PRP (Republican Party of São Paulo). This divergence resulted in dispute with Alberto Sales in the State of São Paulo press. Both men made of the scientific/scholar repertoire their combat instrument. In conclusion, in the exam undertaken in this study, Júlio Ribeiro has constituted a study object rather than a guide of analysis of the State of São Paulo society in the second half of the nineteenth century.

The first chapter deals with the analysis perspective which is able to verify the inter-relations between image and word in tension areas of the narrative between narration and description. This favors, at the same time, the perception and the observation of the word that is being read through the application of the artistic and impressionist proceedings on the literary discursive material. The second chapter enlights new possibilities for the plastic-visual articulation, materialized in the literary word by considering the impressions and sensations of the real world as an object. By means of the reflection on the real, the Impressionist artist Claude Monet used to project his painting diagrams on the screen. This way, Júlio Ribeiro s literary word is delegated to the narrator under two proceeding aspects: the scene told as word and the scene shown as image. The third chapter shows that the tension zones are crossed sometimes by the narrator s view and others by the character s one, resulting in the dissociation subject-object in the literary discourse. This is what bases the synthesis word-object beneath the Impressionist perspective between the artist and/or writer s reflections and depuration. In the conclusion, it is finally detached that in A CARNE , by Júlio Ribeiro, the image, together with the word in experimentation, receives an artistic function of presenting the body of the word-object, to the reader, to the literature understood as word-body in an acting of representing the real / A presente dissertação tem por objetivo analisar o romance A CARNE, de Júlio Ribeiro (1888), sob o olhar impressionista da pintura para reavaliá-lo enquanto objeto estético, sob as concepções do Naturalismo e Impressionismo. O Capítulo I trata da perspectiva de análise em adoção que pretende verificar as inter-relações imagem e palavra em áreas de tensão da narrativa entre narração e descrição. O que favorece, a um só tempo, a percepção e a observação da palavra em leitura por meio de procedimentos artísticos impressionistas aplicados ao material discursivo literário. O Capítulo II aclara essas novas possibilidades de articulação do plásticovisual, materializadas na palavra literária pela via das impressões e sensações do mundo real enquanto objeto. Mediante a reflexão do real, é que o artista impressionista Claude Monet projetava os diagramas de suas pinturas em telas. Para tanto, a palavra literária de Júlio Ribeiro é delegada ao narrador sob dois aspectos de procedimento: a cena contada como palavra e a cena mostrada como imagem. O capítulo III mostra que as zonas de tensão são cruzadas ora pelo olhar do narrador, ora pelo olhar da personagem, resultando na dissociação sujeito-objeto no discurso literário. É o que fundamenta a síntese palavra-objeto sob a perspectiva impressionista entre a reflexão e a depuração do artista e/ou do escritor. Si ces règles de grammaire et des textes qui, ici, nous appelons ajouts grammaticales, ce qui nous considérons leurs discours, concernant la langue del'externalité, étant entendu que cette relation est la constitution mutuelle. En conséquence, nous analysons la rédaction de procédures de la règle, compte tenu de ce qui se passe dans le corps du texte et les notes et commentaires, en tenant compte des conditions particulières de grammatisation au Brésil. Les questions qui guident notre étude sont les suivantes: Comment les images de l'intégralité de la langue? Comme ce sujet se pose par rapport à la langue, au Brésil, en tenant compte des conditions spécifiques de grammatisation? Quel genre de "incomplétude", c'est que si vous voulez "remplir" les grammaires brésiliens? Quelle est votre relation avec la tension entre la langue - la norme - du Portugal et le Brésil? Foram essas regras gramaticais e os textos, que aqui chamamos de acréscimos gramaticais, que nos fizeram considerar suas discursividades, relacionando a linguagem à exterioridade, entendendo que esta relação é de constituição mútua. Nesse sentido, procuramos analisar os procedimentos de formulação da regra, tendo em vista o que vai no corpo do texto e nas notas e comentários, considerando as condições particulares da gramatização no Brasil, país de colonização portuguesa. As perguntas que norteiam nossa reflexão são: Como se constrói o imaginário da completude da língua? Como esse sujeito se coloca em relação à língua no Brasil, em relação à língua de Portugal? Que tipo de "incompletude" é que se procura "preencher" nas gramáticas brasileiras? Qual sua relação com a tensão entre a língua - a norma - de Portugal e do Brasil? Apresentamos, primeiramente, o conceito de gramatização das línguas, processo em que se insere a questão da formulação da regra e da norma. Em um segundo momento, tratamos das regras e dos acréscimos gramaticais no domínio histórico-discursivo, discutindo a normatização da língua, por meio das regras. Discutimos também a temática da produção do saber sobre a língua, para verificar de que modo se dá a formulação das regras no corpo do texto e nos acréscimos nas gramáticas selecionadas e em seguida fizemos uma apresentação geral das partes dessas gramáticas trazendo algumas regras gerais para análise e recortando para a análise específica as regras de colocação dos pronomes átonos, procurando perceber a instituição da norma, pela formulação das regras e os acréscimos nas gramáticas brasileiras / Abstract: This thesis, entered the field of Linguistic History of Ideas in a linkage with the Discourse Analysis, aims at analyzing the discursive the effects of senses of formulation of rules and increases in grammars Julio Ribeiro, Said Ali and Evanildo Bechara. These were the texts and grammar rules, which here we call grammatical increases, we did consider his discoursivities, relating the language to exteriority, understanding that this relationship is of mutual constitution. Accordingly, we analyze the procedures for formulating the rule, in view of what is in the body of the text and the notes and comments, considering the particular conditions of grammatisation in Brazil, country of Portuguese colonization. The questions that guide our reflection are: How do you build the imaginary completeness of the language? How this subject arises in relation to language in Brazil compared the language of Portugal? What kind of "incompleteness" is that it seeks to "fill" the Brazilian grammars? What is your relationship with the tension between the language - the norm - of Portugal and Brazil? Here, firstly, the presentation of the concept of grammatisation languages, process which includes the issue of formulation of the rule and the norm. In a second step, we treat the rules and increases grammatical in the field historical-discursive, discussing the standardization of the language, through the rules.
