Kjellander, Malin January 2010 (has links)

Sweden's population holds today one of the highest life expectancies in the world and an increasing number of Swedes believe that they have good health. However, the problem still remains that there exists significant differences in health between different population groups and neighborhoods. Two neighborhoods that demonstrate high inequality in health status are Rinkeby and Danderyd in Stockholm County.

The purpose of this study was to examine why health differs between different neighborhoods and how residents experience the area and their health. To answer this purpose a combination of statistical data and qualitative interviews with residents in Danderyd and Rinkeby has been used with an additional literature review.

The study showed that the causes of health inequalities between these neighborhoods was primarily concerned with the factors of education, economic conditions, ethnicity, conditions of comfort and companionship and the surrounding residential environment. The population in Danderyd, made up largely of people with high education, good economic conditions and few foreign-born, while the majority of Rinkeby’s population consists of individuals with low education, poor economic conditions and a high proportion of inhabitants of foreign origin, which are determining factors leading to poorer health status among the population. Both Danderyd and Rinkeby offered good access to green areas which inspired to healthier choices among the residents. The residents in Danderyd were more satisfied and better enjoyed in their neighborhood than the residents in Rinkeby where several of them experienced alienation and all expressed the desire to move to another area.

Konsumenters efterfrågan av ekologiska livsmedel : En fallstudie i Stockholm / Consumers' demand of ecological food : A case study in Stockholm

Lindahl, Kim January 2014 (has links)

Larsson, Tina January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine expressions of power and racism in news reporting about the district of Rinkeby, Sweden, in two major Swedish newspapers. News articles are examined using Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional model for critical discourse analysis. The discourse theory has also been complemented with theories of media in relation to power, ideology and racism. The study has shown that news reporting about Rinkeby largely focused on stereotypical subjects such as violence, social problems and crime. Through repeated othering and negative representations of Rinkeby and its residents, the news media can be said to both create and reproduce structures of power and racism in a broader societal context.

Lindblom, Jesper January 2013 (has links)

Ziakouli, Marina, Fagerberg, Erika January 2016 (has links)
This project aims on exploring ways to redefine the relationship of gender and space through urban design. Gender inequalities expressed in spatial manners have been theorized by feminist geography, an approach to human geography. Having a good understanding of this theoretical context will provide the tools to tackle distantiation, spatial separation, constraint and the limited spatial opportunities women experience in public places. Using Rinkeby square as the canvas for this exploration, the effort will be put on mapping the uses of the square through observation, quantitative research, as well as interviews with local organisations, shops and authorities close to the square. An inventory of the architectural features of the square will be made along with a site analysis focusing on the questions of effects on equality. Furthermore existing female networks and societies in the area will be contacted seeking possible collaborations for a later project work, workshops or events. Finally, as a result of the initial investigations, this project intends to explore how a physical intervention would affect these questions at Rinkeby square. It is the working hypothesis of this project that any project in order to be successful would need to be based on a deeper understanding of the challenges surrounding female presence on the square, and be tied into the already existing networks for women. This project therefore hopes to establish contact with existing female networks such as (D)Järva Kvinnor, Café Respekt and Tensta-Hjulsta Kvinnocenter, amongst others.

Järva Community Center : A social, cultural and religious hub for Järva

Mahmud, Faisal January 2011 (has links)
Why this proposal makes sense... The aim of this project is to research the relationship between a mosque and the functions of a community center. It is located between Tensta and Rinkeby, two suburbs in the north of Stockholm. I believe that the two areas can gain a lot by a shared community center due to both positive and negative similarities. The proximity to Järvafältet and Kista is a great plus in the equation. Kista is another suburb in the Järva area and it has been a huge success with regards to education, entrepreneurship and the IT-industry that re- sides there. My goal was to create a contemporary mosque that stays true to Islamic architectural concepts while I develop a new aesthetic language for the spaces that a mosque requires. How can we use the mosque as an attracting catalyst in order to reach out to the inhabitants in these areas? A lot of people in Järva have roots in other parts of the world. There are a lot of vibrant communities from all over the world in Tensta and Rinkeby. People have great respect for faith and religious matters and consider it to be a major part of their identity. What spaces can a mosque share with the community center for opti- mal use and convenience? My proposal takes into consideration that a mosque has a limited num- ber of days during the year when the worshippers need all the space that they can get. I have therefore proposed to put the mosque next to the sports hall so that the sports hall can be used for prayer and spiritual activities during special events such as the month of Ramadan and Friday prayers. When the sports hall is not used by the mosque it goes back to being just a regular sports hall with an intricate roof. What makes it a community center? To make the project more compelling I have added other functions in order to address the needs and wishes of the inhabitants. There is also a library, a food court, lecture hall/cinema, offices, conference rooms, seminar rooms and a class room.
