Ríos Baeza, Felipe Adrián 03 August 2011 (has links)
This investigation affirms that the axis of the ethical-aesthetical proposal of the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003) constitutes a particular notion of “margin”. This margin will not only act in his narrative with the stationary objective of recognizing a limit that separates an interior from an exterior (a "frame" in which we can define where a fenomenological reality begins and ends); that margin will also tend, due to its particular and dynamic characteristics, to open gradually or destroy itself violently, mixing interior and exterior, center and periphery in the same space. In his narrative, Roberto Bolaño seems to situate his topics and characters in the “edges” (both, argumentative and ideological) and, from those ends, question the material which could become literature. Situated in this complex “border”, Bolaño will try to introduce a series of “marginal” speeches and narrative tools where the binary interior/exterior system (assuming it as a variant of center/periphery) will be dismantled. Thus, this work proposes to study in detail that notion of “margin”, where the literary space seems to absorb characters and topics considered “anti-canonical” to reproduce a “textuality” in constant dynamism.
