O amor é uma história: satisfação e complementaridade de papéis no relacionamento conjugal / Love is a story: satisfaction and social roles`complimentarily on couple relationships.Mayor, Andréa Soutto 13 December 2007 (has links)
The general purpose of this research was to identify any possible relationships between Robert Steinberg\'s \"Love Stories\" and couple satisfaction. 50 heterosexual couples, married or consensually living together, constituted the sample. Research specific objectives were: to identify \"Love Stories\" which were considered the most adequate to predict couple satisfaction; to verify if there were any similarities between men and women \"Love Stories\" and between those to which they either identify themselves or would like to reply on their own lives; to verify if there was any relationship between the wish of living a specific \"Love Story\" and the person\'s own \"real story\". Main findings were that the \"Love Stories\" of which the scripts were more socially adequate were those which were identified as having more positive prediction power, while those the scripts of which were socially inadequate according to the couples\' current cultural patterns were those which were considered as presenting negative prediction power for couple satisfaction. Couples presented similarities on relation to \"Love Stories\" they identify to with either more or less intensity and in average they were satisfied with the \"real living stories\" of their couple relationships.

“It’s like we’ve always been walking behind men” : A qualitative study on how machismo and the Me Too- and feminist movements in Chile affect female broadcast journalists and their professional rolesMoussa Espinola, Gabriella January 2019 (has links)
Chile is one of the many countries in Latin America affected by machismo (Torres et al 2002, p. 163-164). In the year of 2017 the Me Too-movement sparked a fire in Chilean media and the feminist movement grew bigger and stronger. These movements affected many institutions, organizations and industries. The journalism industry being one of them. The purpose of this study is to investigate how female journalists in Chile perceive themselves, these movements and their journalistic roles in the context of a country affected by machismo and movements trying to fight it. To investigate these themes a qualitative approach has been used by conducting semi-structured interviews with eight female Chilean journalists that are currently working or have worked in broadcasting. The theoretical background of this study is based on the Hierarchy of Influences model by Pamela J. Shoemaker and Stephen D. Reese (2016), which has been combined with the concept of journalistic role perceptions by Thomas Hanitzsch and Tim P. Vos (2018). The results indicated that the majority of the women interviewed had positive opinions towards the Me Too- and feminist movements in Chile, and that these movements have also had a positive impact on Chilean society and the journalism industry. And so the effects have also been visible in the women's private and professional lives. Even though machismo and harmful patriarchal norms have been and is a part of their lives, the social structures have not gotten in the way of them feeling strong, fighting for their rights, and other women's rights in the industry. Machismo and the movements have all played important parts in how these women have taken on their journalistic roles.

Die grüne SeiteDietrich, Anne 21 October 2015 (has links) (PDF)

Therapeutic commitment and care of persons with mental illness: a survey of nurse practitioners' role perceptionsCreamer, Anne Marie 06 1900 (has links)
This study explored Canadian nurse practitioners’ (NPs) levels of therapeutic commitment (TC), role competency (RC) and role support (RS) when caring for persons with mental illness and mental health problems. Knowledge and experiential factors that impact these levels were examined and a model of therapeutic commitment was tested. A self-administered mail survey was sent to 1272 NPs from all Canadian jurisdictions except the Yukon, Saskatchewan and Quebec. The survey was comprised of the Mental Health Problem Perceptions Questionnaire (MHPPQ), demographic data and open-ended questions. Using Dillman’s Tailored Design Method, the target population was contacted 4 times: pre-notice letter, first survey, reminder letter, and repeat survey. Of the 1272 potential participants, 680 (57.2%) useable surveys were received. Out of a possible maximum score of 7, NPs reported mean levels of 5.05 (SD 0.83) on the TC, 5.02 (SD 0.88) on the RC and 4.86 (SD 1.27) on the RS subscales. As hypothesized, correlations between the three subscales were demonstrated with RC and TC being the most strongly associated (r = .754, p <.001). A composite variable, Confidence to Manage, which examined NPs’ confidence to manage 7 mental health disorders and suicide ideation was developed. Scores for this variable correlated with TC, RC and RS scores. Feeling ill-equipped to work with this population, knowledge of community mental health services, ratings of relevant theoretical and clinical NP education, previous mental health and NP work experience were all positively correlated with higher levels of the 4 subscales. Differences in categories for population size of the community the NP worked in, frequency of collaboration for psychiatric reasons, time since the NP accessed mental health education and highest level of nursing education were found to impact levels of TC, RS, RC and Confidence to Manage. A large number of NPs reported feeling inadequately prepared to manage the care of persons with mental illness and recommended either adding or increasing mental health education in their NP programs. Most NPs saw the care of this population as part of their role and acknowledged the need for increased support for persons with mental health issues.

An investigation of the reliability, subscale intercorrelations, and validity of the Administrator role perception inventoryWax, Anne Skirven 01 January 1983 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability, subscale intercorrelations, and validity of the Administrator Role Perception Inventory (ARPI), an instrument developed by the investigator and a co-author in the year preceding the study. The ARPI is a 50 item, Likert-type scale which reflects variables thought to be associated with burn-out: expectation, motivation, accomplishment, psycho-physical state, and relationships. Another variable, previously unresearched, was also included; it is the variable of "time" and reflects a negative time orientation, a longing for the "good old days." The inventory was mailed to all of the 2,113 active members of the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators during the middle of August, 1982. The return rate for the ARPI was 62 percent. Analysis of the data showed that the ARPI has an internal consistency of .91. The coefficients for the subscales fell between .70 and .85. As expected, there were substantial intercorrelations among the subscales, ranging from a low of .31 to a high of .63. Total ARPI scores and the subscale scores were correlated with measures of self-perceived burnout, desire for early retirement, and felt job stress. All of these correlations were in the expected direction, were significant at the .001 level, and ranged from -.41 to -.59. It was concluded that the Administrator Role Perception Inventory is comparable to measurement instruments similar in purpose and format.

The aim of this study is to examine how the role perceptions of former Human Resource students, who are working within HR, have varied between how they were during their time in education and now in the profession. The study also aims to examine what part organizational socialization plays on the similarities and differences between the role perceptions created during the time in education and the ones in the profession. The empirical data is based on seven semistructured interviews. To analyze the empirical data we put together a theoretical framework, using Goffman's (2020) theory of self, role and trinket and Ng and Feldman's notion of organizational socialization. The results show that the Human Resources program is thoroughly theoretical and contributes with knowledge within several subjects. This seems to make the former Human Resources students believe that they are fully learned after graduation, whilst the Human Resource role is characterized by a constant commitment to learning and development. This causes confusion in what the Human Resource role is about, which creates a “gap”. This “gap” is about differences between the role perception from education and the ones at work. Work experience within HR during the time in education seems to contribute with a better understanding of what a HR practitioner does, which contributes to a better match between the role perceptions. This match can be understood as similarities between the role perceptions. The first period after graduation is generally characterized by high expectations and demands on oneself but low from the employer. A formal introduction to the HR occupation also seems to compensate for the differences between the role perceptions created during the time in university and the ones in the profession, which reduce the “gap”.
