Forsberg, Andreas, Liljekvist, Otto January 2020 (has links)
Increased focus on sustainability is constantly on the agenda for organizations. One particular area that is in the spotlight is increased sustainability within the supply chain. This is based on the fact that the supply chain covers the flow of goods, materials and information that goes between an organization’s different actors, all the way from initiation until the customer receives the product. The wide range of the supply chain makes it possible for the sustainability work to have major effects. As support and optimization for SCM, various digital tools and applications can be used, often in the form of SCM systems. The purpose of this study is therefore to create an understanding of how SCM systems can support organizations in the food industry to work more sustainable and to create an understanding of the role and importance of the SCM system in the sustainability work in the food industry. This leads us to the research question: How can supply chain management systems support organizations in working more sustainable in the food industry? To answer the question, a qualitative research approach was used where a thematic analysis was used to analyze the empirical result. Four areas were identified as a basis for the gathering of the empirical material. These four areas where identified through the literature discussion and SCM served as sustainability support for organization in the food industry in all four. The four areas that were identified were as follows: Transport, Planning, Monitoring and Sharing of information. The empirical material was collected through a number of interviews with respondents in the food industry who had a direct connection to the supply chain in their respective organizations. In the conclusion, three themes are presented that are of fundamental importance to support organizations in the food industry in working more sustainably.

Řízení dodavatelských řetězců a jejich optimalizace / Supply Chain Management and its optimization

Alipčenkov, Timur January 2007 (has links)
Dissertation work comes with a summary of logistics evolution in the sphere of Supply Chain Management and focuses readers attention on the processes inside of supply chain. However dissertaion work is not just a huge methodological part, it also comes with an optimization part. Reader meets imaginary company trying to optimize a part of its distribution process by using modification of distribution technology "Hub and Spoke". Optimization computational procedure also consist of Traveller Salesman Problem (TSP). Fictional data for three days of testing where prepared by using MS Excel function of random numbers. For longer testing period dissertation work uses simulation technology represented by SIMPROCESS software.

Supporting learning object versioning

Brooks, Christopher Arthur Hansen 08 March 2005
A current popular paradigm in e-learning is that of the "learning object". Broadly de-fined, a learning object is a reusable piece of educational material intended to be strung together with other learning objects to form larger educational units such as activities, lessons, or whole courses. This aggregating of learning objects together is a recursive process small objects can be combined to form medium sized objects, medium sized objects can be combined to form large objects, and so on. Once objects have been com-bined appropriately, they are generally serialized into content packages, and deployed into an online course for delivery to learners.<p>Learning objects are often stored in distributed and decentralized repositories throughout the Internet. This provides unique challenges when managing the history of such an ob-ject, as traditional versioning techniques (e.g. CVS, RCS, etc.) rely on centralized man-agement. These challenges have been largely ignored by the educational technology community, but are becoming more important as sharing of learning objects increases.<p>This thesis explores these issues by providing a formal version model for learning ob-jects, a set of data bindings for this model, and a prototype authoring environment which implements these bindings. In addition, the work explores the potential benefits of ver-sion control by implementing a visualization of a learning object revision tree. This visualization includes the relationship between objects and their aggregates, the struc-tural history of an object, and the semantic changes that an object has undergone.
