Étude de la stabilité directionnelle en virage de skis alpins commercialement disponibles

Truong, Jonas January 2018 (has links)

Pricing in a congestible service industry with a focus on the ski industry

Benavides, Raul Martinez 05 1900 (has links)
In 2003, the Centre for Operations Excellence at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business worked on a project for a company in the resort industry. The project was an initial attempt to develop and implement a pricing management practice for the ski lift ticket business of that company. Our main deliverable was the development of an Excel-based tool with a user-friendly interface that could help the company in their budgeting of the ski lift ticket business. After completing the project, we did some further investigation relative to pricing management techniques that could be applied to this sort of business, namely a congestible service industry. In this thesis we argue that a revenue management system could bring substantial benefits if implemented in this industry. We also identify the requirements and main features of a revenue management system applied to congestible service industries. Although revenue management is a very popular system in fields such as the airline, hotel and car rental industry, none of them can be classified as congestible industries. The ski lift ticket industry and similar industries possess one characteristic that differentiates them from the ones previously mentioned, there is no fixed capacity. This is the reason why we considered important to study the application of revenue management in congestible service industries. / Business, Sauder School of / Graduate

Bike to Ski : Merging ski touring- and mountain bike wear in an attempt to optimise multifunctional outdoor wear for women

Schiøtz Olsen, Sigrid January 2020 (has links)
This project investigates the merging of performance apparel from mountain biking and ski touring, based on the emerging trend in combining mountain biking and ski touring as sports. Designing apparel for a combination of sports could contribute to a sustainable change in the outdoor industry by affecting the design thinking, demand and consumerism. All the garments are developed based on the female body and needs. This is shown through both commercial pieces and experimental pieces, with garment shapes that are both similar and not so similar to existing garments. Material placement is based on movement and thermoregulatory responses of the female athlete and plays an important part to achieve both expression and function in the garments. The methodology is explained through five parts; field testing, sketching, prototyping, experimenting and evaluation, which are used both numerical and independently of each other. This resulted in a collection of seven outfits where three of these are produced and the remaining four are illustrated through development, sketches and technical descriptions. Results show suggestions of how a combination between sports could be developed and used. It also shows potential to be developed even further into other various directions.

Utah Ski Use: A Descriptie Analysis

Silva, Timothy L. 01 May 1976 (has links)
Use of ski areas in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah has increased rapidly over the last two decades. To facilitate planning and management of programs and facilities designed to meet this need, public and private organizations should have information which delineates the factors affecting use of these ski areas. The objectives of this study were therefore: (1) to determine what factors were responsible for variation in use at Utah ski areas, (2) to determine the relative importance of these factors in explaining ski area use, (3) to ascertain if these variables explaining use differ significantly between two ski seasons, (4) to determine if the factors explaining use differ significantly between various ski areas, and (5) to analyze the planning and management implications of this study. Six Utah ski areas were examined over two ski seasons. Data concerning site characteristics, management variables and locational variables for each ski area was collected. Methods of data collection included use of existing studies and information, telephone interviews and in-person Interviews with ski area managers. The main statistical procedures utilized were stepwise multiple regression analysis and partial correlation analysis. Results of these analyses indicated that two site characteristic variables, (1) total number of chairlifts and aerial tramways at each ski area, and (2) average snow depth at each ski area were closely related to variation in ski area use. These two variables were the most important for both the 1972-73 and 1974-75 ski seasons, as well as the average of these two seasons. The analyses indicated that vertical drop and lift ticket price were the two variables most closely associated with variation in use at ski areas which received a majority of their use from non-Utah residents. For those ski areas which received a majority of use from residents of Utah's Wasatch Front, the variables most closely related to variation In use were: (1) number of years in operation as a ski area, and (2) total advertising expenditures of each ski area. Implications for planning and management of ski areas in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah are discussed. Possible refinements of this technique for future applications are suggested. A glossary of terms is included.

Mismemory

Ulitina, Ekaterina January 2020 (has links)
This project tries to understand how we alter existing architecture. The research leads to a proposal that attempts to answer the question: Should a death of a building be a part of its envisaged timeline? It is difficult to preempt a building being dead, but it might be possible to preempt a building being refurbished, renovated and especially replicated. I will try to incorporate the dimension of time in the new buildings and embrace the inevitable change, as well as explore the friction between originality and copying that the process of alteration generates. The site chosen for this architectural experiment is a ski jump erected at Norra Djurgården, and the proposal is its morphed copy hosting a visitors centre and an urban sports centre. The ambition is to establish guidelines or principles of mimicking and copying the elements of an existing edifice in the new one.

Charakteristika a popis lyžařských běžeckých areálů v ČR / Characteristics and description of cross-country skiing resorts in the Czech Republic

Mandl, Jan January 2011 (has links)
Title: Characteristics and description of cross-country skiing resorts in the Czech Republic Aim: The aim of this work is to look for cross-country ski resorts in the Czech republic which are suitable for cross-country trainings and competitions of various categories. The extension of this work is the creation of a written and electronic list featuring these areas and including a brief description of their background. The electronic version of the overview of the cross-country resorts, mentioned in this work would be/will be/is posted on the internet for the needs of the ski clubs and cross-country skiing lovers. Methods: The basis of this work is data collection performed by analysis of documents referred to in the literature and on websites. A large amount of the information was provided by the skiers, administrators of sites and their operators. Another method used in this work to determine the actual technical details, especially concerning the individual ski resorts and cross-country skiing routes, was the survey. Given the low responding rate, and because of a very narrow range of questions asked, it was not appropriate to use a method of data collection by questionnaire. Results: Assessment of individual sites based on the offered training opportunities and organization of competitions for...
