Espaços de carga na região metropolitana de São Paulo / Cargo spaces in São Paulo metropolitan region

Zioni, Silvana Maria 27 March 2009 (has links)
The characterization of load transport system in Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, exposed in this work, holds on several ways of activities and duties organization for cargo transport, calling the attention to the new spaces and flows that were engendered on the last decades. The issue of cargo traffic and transport in São Paulo Metropolitan region and its relation with the transformation of the productive organization are broached, understood as important aspects of social spatial dynamic of São Paulo Metropolis. It is admitted that the transformation of productive organization of the metropolis implied in the increase of the goods and merchandises flows, that when affecting the organization of the general circulation and cargo transport duties, may have rebounded in urban spatial organization. Such transformations, also decurrent from innovations in load transport duties own organization, are becoming characterized as logistics activities and aim global profits in the production process. Thus, some of the new elements of the load transport system may be related to social spatial processes characteristic of the contemporary metropolitan formation, which express itself in different ways of spatial distribution of the economical activities. Starting from this presupposition some aspects of the production organization and of the trading and duties activities are described, which have turned out to changes in the urban load system, arguing that such changes constitute the dynamics transformations of the metropolitan spaces and confirm the polarization strength and the concentrated articulation in RMSP (São Paulo Metropolitan Region).

Spatial Organization Of Service Activities In Ankara

Levent, Tolga 01 May 2007 (has links) (PDF)
In the last decades, the spatial organization of services has become a key issue in the urban planning literature. The basic reasons for this significance are the difficulties not only in understanding this complex and context-dependent organization, but also in developing planning interventions for this organization. Moreover, author believes that the existing theoretical frameworks have some inabilities in interpreting the spatial organization at the intra-metropolitan scale. Therefore, this study basically aims to redefine the spatial organization of service activities in Ankara with a relational perspective, and consequently, to develop an information-base for new types of planning interventions. For this purpose, first, the concepts and the fields of concepts that are integral to the spatial organization of services are examined. These concepts are the spatial patterns of concentration and dispersion and the spatial cohesiveness. Thereafter, the analytical framework that is required to study these concepts empirically, is introduced by stating the advantages of using descriptive mathematical techniques, indicators and methodological procedures in relational perspective. In the case study, the spatial organization of services in Ankara is redefined basically with reference to the spatial patterns of concentration and dispersion and the spatial cohesiveness of services. This redefinition displays the monocentric structure of Ankara and the differentiated parts within the spatial organization of services according to the activity compositions. Afterwards, this redefinition is utilized as the starting point for the reformulation of a new planning approach and new regulations directed towards the differentiated parts of the spatial organization of services. Finally, the methodological and contentual contributions, and also the possible further studies are presented as concluding remarks.

Spatio-temporal Transformation Of

Koca, Feray 01 February 2012 (has links) (PDF)
&lsquo / Bag&rsquo / settlements have been a part of dynamic spatial systems, which seasonally depend on and reciprocally interact with Anatolian towns throughout centuries. This thesis presents the transforming setting of &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlements related to changing values and meanings through an ontological assessment. Therefore, the thesis assumes that the main values of spatial organization, farmland pattern, ecological formation, settlement character, socio-cultural structure and lifestyle of the inhabitants constitute the unique entity of &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlements. In time, the pressures of changing socio-economic conditions have destroyed the interaction between Anatolian towns and &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlements. The thesis explains the changing role of &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlements, changing and conflicting land uses and the loss of unique &lsquo / bag&rsquo / character in the case of Mugla-Karabaglar. Karabaglar is a &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlement in the southwestern Turkey, where Mugla town residents live seasonally. It is a third grade natural site, the unique character, the natural and cultural assets and the lifestyle of which must be preserved. However, with transformation of the main values, meanings and practices, Karabaglar could no longer perpetuated its initial existence of being. Karabaglar is significant for two reasons: it has natural and cultural beings that need to be conserved, and as it still goes through a transformation process. The master&rsquo / s thesis of the author evaluated conservation plan of Karabaglar. Differently, this doctoral thesis evaluates the dynamics of the spatio-temporal transformation process in Karabaglar. It presents the changing role and significance of Karabaglar within the town-country continuum. This situation brings forward the conservation problematic of the character, landscape and uniqueness of Karabaglar. Within this respect, the thesis contributes to the literature of &lsquo / bag&rsquo / settlements in terms of defining their being and changing role throughout the history.

Weak Governance, Divided Residents: The Development of Gated Communities in Guatemala City

Dalby, Laura 28 October 2013 (has links)
This thesis asks the question: how can one describe the development of gated communities in Guatemala City? It collects and analyzes data on gated communities in Guatemala City in order to explore the nature of their development in a violent geographical region, which has also been neglected by the academic community. It argues that the development of gated communities in Guatemala City does not fit the mutually exclusive ‘security’ argument as scholars have made. Instead, a mixture of economic factors, social status, weak governance, and security concerns are involved as large private corporations draw upon security-related fears, unregulated development of real estate and weak governance, resulting in a disorganized model of spatial organization. This study adds to the growing body of literature on gated communities by laying the groundwork needed to fill the gap that currently exists in Central America.

Tourism Development And Spatial Organisation: Antalya

Erdem Almac, F. Irem 01 June 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The rapid development in tourism sector in Turkey after 1980s led to an uncontrolled and unplanned development in the small settlements close to the tourism development areas. This is the result of the incrementalist tourism planning understanding emerged as the consequence of not considering the small settlements as a part of tourism development scenarios. Within the thesis, the tourism development areas and the economic, social, cultural and spatial relations of small settlements surrounding are discussed. It is emphasized that the concept of tourism is quite comprehensive and it is claimed that tourism legislation and tourism planning should be prepared taking into account that comprehensive tourism description. The questions, whether a role is described for small settlements in the tourism development scenarios in the course of tourism planning experiences of Turkey after 1980s or not, and what kind of approaches the tourism policies include about the development of small settlements are tried to be answered referring to the Tourism Encouragement Law Code: 2634 and Amended Law on Tourism Encouragement Law Code: 4957. The claims that tourism planning in Turkey after 1980s has not been carried out with a comprehensive planning approach and no part is reserved for the small settlements in tourism development scenarios are looked through over Antalya -Belek Tourism Centre and the hypothesis put forward in the thesis are proved through the mentioned sample areas. Moreover, within the scope of this thesis, recommendations and proposals on the legal regulations for the solution of problems determined and on the content of &ldquo / tourism development plans&rdquo / are given.

ORGANIZAÇÃO ESPACIAL DA PRODUÇÃO DE ERVA-MATE NO MUNICÍPIO DE PALMITOS/SC / SPATIAL ORGANIZATION OF PRODUCTION OF GRASS-MATE IN THE CITY OF PALMITOS / SC

Moraes, Cristina de 30 September 2010 (has links)
This study aims to understand the relation between the spatial organization of Palmitos / SC and production of yerba mate, over time. The exploitation of this natural resource is linked with the earliest forms of human occupation in space developed which includes the city under study. During this period played main role in determining the ways that space received from human action. Concomitantly, it is this same period that have intensified the disputes between Brazil and Argentina for that space, in a diplomatic row nominated as Question of Palmas. After the resolution of this, the Brazilian government's policies with territorial immigration geoeconomic and geopolitical interests, as evidenced by the deployment of small farms, which no strength to produce the export products to turn their production to grocery, absorbed by the demand generated by urbanization and industrialization developed in southeastern Brazil. In this context, the exploitation of mate takes a secondary role in this socio-spatial formation, in which cereal production and livestock development, especially pigs, have assumed crucial role in determining the region's economy and spatial organization. After the restructuring of production in the 1970s, in which the industry ervateira experiencing a technical improvement that increases the demand for raw material, is contributing to upgrading the product. Moreover, through the same phenomenon (restructuring productive) farmers experience a process of selectivity and marginalization, which induces the constant search for alternative production enabled the social reproduction of the same. The combination of these factors corresponds to the assumptions that account for the reintegration of the cultivation of yerba mate in the city, with high production of this statement in 1996 (Agricultural Census, 1996). To perform the study, it became necessary to understand historical and geographical formations of space developed in Palmitos / SC ervateira and peculiarities of the activity.
