A (Re)ordenação espacial do Bairro do Recife a partir da proposta do plano de revitalização turística

Santos, Renato Sérgio dos January 2010 (has links)
This master's thesis consists of an analysis from the hermeneutics phenomenology in its three moments: understanding, interpretation and new understanding. We worked, in this research, with the comprehension of the phenomenon of revitalization of the Recife neighborhood. The main goal is to study the process of touristic revitalization of the Recife neighborhood and the consequences on the spatial organization of it. Initially, from the understanding of the secondary sources and the analysis of the interviews conducted with subjects that, somehow, were able to give us information so that we could conceive the changes in the ordering of the neighborhood, it is shown how much the installation and execution of the project changed and impacted their habits. Then, using the same sources, we identified the shutting of several equipments that supported the touristic activity in the neighborhood. Thus, we tried to identify, from the concept of sustainability presented by Sachs (2002), the environmental measures and the SISTUR presented by Beni (2003), some flaws that we believe helped for the decay of the project.

Approximately two thousand quilombola communities have been identified in Brazil, where they can be found in rural, urban, and peri-urban settings in a number of different regions. In the Brazilian state of CearÃ, where the negro presence was denied in the colonial and imperial periods, these groups, also known as rural negro communities, were, until recently, all but anonymous. Over the years, as a result of the local movement for negro awareness, the negro communities themselves, and the wider society, new elements were inserted into the historiography of the state, reinforcing the importance of these groups for the formation of the local identity. In this context, the present study aimed to understand the forms of social and spatial organization experienced by the quilombola community of NazarÃ, located in the district of Arapari, in the municipality of Itapipoca, CearÃ, Brazil. The starting point for this analysis was the understanding of the significance of the quilombo in the present-day, in the context of political reforms, changes in legislation, and the generation of new social policies, which have recognized the importance of these group for the formation of the national identity. Complementary data were collected using open and semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and a social cartographic approach, in which the observations demonstrated how familial and religious relationships, and the creation of associations (residents and quilombolas) are important elements in the social life of the residents of NazarÃ, combining to solidify the movement that valorizes the quilomobola identity. In general, the results of this study provide an important contribution to the visibility of the quilombola movement of CearÃ, as well as providing a historical, socio-economic, and environmental record of the Nazarà quilombo.

Châteaux, espace et société en Dauphiné et en Savoie : du milieu du XIIIe siècle à la fin du XVe siècle / Castles, space and society in Dauphiné and Savoy : from the mid-13th century to the late 15th century

Payraud, Nicolas 12 December 2009 (has links)
During the Middle Ages, the relationship between the neighbour principalities of Dauphiné and Savoy influences the evolution of a huge territory stretched between Lake Geneva, the Mediterranean Sea, the Rhone Valley and the Padan Plain. Their common History, however, is far from being fully known. Castles, which are, because of their many functions, the very heart of the medieval society, seem to be the key to understand it. Through the study of the castles and castellanies of Montluel, Moras-en-Valloire, Sallanches and Queyras, based on series of account rolls and registers kept by the two administrations, it is possible to analyse the evolution of the space mentioned above, from the mid-13th century to the late 15th century, a period of time during which Dauphiné became united with France (1349) and the county of Savoy was made a duchy (1416). Facing such changes, the ways of princely power deeply evolve, outlining what will later become known as the modern state.

Alternative housing environments for the elderly in the information society:the Finnish experience

Özer-Kemppainen, Ö. (Özlem) 30 May 2006 (has links)
Abstract The living circumstances of the elderly are closely related to the social changes in society. The aim of this research is to firstly, identify the impact of social changes on the spatial organization of dwellings and housing from the perspective of the elderly within the framework of social ageing, and secondly to examine the reasons for relocation of the elderly to sheltered housing. Using this data, some recommendations are made about a suitable barrier-free housing model for the elderly based on traditional Finnish rural housing. In addition to the need for barrier-free design criteria in the design process of future dwellings, understanding the social and psychological aspects of the traditional housing of the northern outreach can provide a new perspective for developing and modifying current living environments of the network society. Dwelling architecture already contains a versatile spatial order and a productive identity to constitute different levels of social order and integration. Applied in the network society, the traditional Finnish housing feature known as "tupa" has the capability of exceeding the physical boundaries of home to integrate the service possibilities of the cyberworld. This "tupa" model, both on the dwelling unit level and on the housing level, is not only suitable for the lifestyle of the network society, but also for the elderly who are gradually growing fragile. The "tupa" model functions as a suitable space for the elderly; firstly, as a place to grow old as productive members of the society after retirement and, secondly, as a place to function as active members fostered by the housing community and by the facilities of the network society. "Theme housing" model which is a reinterpretation of the principles of Finnish rural housing, provides a model which can both facilitate social interaction, and the productivity of different generations, while avoiding isolation and social exclusion in the network society.
