Essa regulamentação se deu através do Estado, instância central onde são coordenados os mecanismos de controle, como parte de um Projeto de Modernidade. A marcação ocidental via normas, leis e regras da sociedade determinam quando inicia a velhice dos indivíduos, no caso do Brasil aos 60 anos. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi compreender as concepções de velhice e envelhecimento do idoso de São José do Cerrito, Santa Catarina. Compreendido enquanto um 'transitante' na fronteira entre a perspectiva da pessoalidade, nas maneiras com que se percebem e atribuem sentido ao seu próprio envelhecer e, entre a perspectiva da vida social e pública, de como a legislação vigente sobre o envelhecimento atua entre os moradores. A pesquisa foi realizada em cinco etapas, de março a maio de 2015. Foram entrevistadas vinte e sete pessoas, homens idosos, com idade entre os 60 aos 87 anos e agentes institucionais vinculados direta ou indiretamente ao trabalho com esta faixa etária. Meu intuito foi tentar compreender como esses homens chegaram até ali, nas terras do Cerrito/SC, quais foram e são as (suas) histórias e a de seus antepassados. E o resultado foi que a compreensão do envelhecimento e das velhices dos idosos desta localidade perpassa em como transitam entre o rural e o urbano, as múltiplas identidades vivenciadas, aos grupos de pertencimento, ao cuidado de si, do outro e ao cuidado na/com a terra.<br> / Abstract : It is in modernity that the course of life in the Western world has been institutionalized, universalizing and regulating individuals according to their ages. This regulation took place through the State, central instance where the control mechanisms are coordinated, as part of a Modernity Project. Western marking via norms, laws and society rules determine when the old age of individuals begins, in the case of Brazil at the age of 60. The objective of this research was to understand the conceptions of old age and aging of the elderly of São José do Cerrito, Santa Catarina. Understood as a 'transient' on the frontier between the perspective of personality, the ways in which they perceive themselves and give meaning to their own aging, and, from the perspective of social and public life, how current legislation on aging works among residents . The research was carried out in five stages, from March to May 2015. Twenty-seven people, elderly men, aged between 60 and 87 years and institutional agents directly or indirectly linked to the work with this age group were interviewed. My intention was to try to understand how these men came here, in the lands of Cerrito / SC, what were and are their stories and that of their ancestors. And the result was that the understanding of the aging and old age of the elderly in this locality runs through the way the rural and the urban, the multiple identities experienced, the groups of belonging, the care of self, the other and care in the Earth.
