Defesa: Curitiba, 12/05/2017 / Inclui referências : f. 131-135 / Resumo: O século XIX europeu foi um período marcado pelo desenvolvimento das nações e por suas aspirações a histórias coletivas que legitimassem uma identidade nacional unificada. Dessa forma, impérios como a Inglaterra e a França investiram, ao longo de suas expedições pelo mundo, em estudos voltados para o conhecimento da Antiguidade, valendo-se da imagem dos antigos para se diferenciarem de outras sociedades em termos civilizacionais, instituindo-se como herdeiros das grandes civilizações do passado. O Egito Antigo é, então, redescoberto na Europa, tornando-se até mesmo moda no continente, pois antiguidades egípcias foram incessantemente apropriadas pela população europeia, desde homens comuns a ricos colecionadores. Tal fato intensificou a presença de viajantes antiquaristas no nordeste africano, que ficariam responsáveis pela espoliação da cultura material egípcia. Nesse contexto, inserem-se Sarah e Giovanni Belzoni, casal de europeus que viajou pelo Egito entre os anos de 1816 e 1819, e que foi responsável pela constituição de grandes coleções de artefatos egípcios que atualmente se encontram espalhadas em museus na Europa, incluindo o Museu Britânico. Além das exposições, os viajantes produziram um diário de viagem, no qual relatam suas impressões sobre a população local, tanto a moderna como a antiga. Partindo dessas informações, esta investigação teve como objetivo o estudo das narrativas desses viajantes, com o intuito de observar a relação entre passado e presente no contexto da expansão imperial britânica, bem como a criação e difusão de discursos sobre a sociedade egípcia antiga. A análise desse momento histórico nos estimula a compreender a literatura de viagem para além do simples relato ou da ficção, dentro de um contexto de construção de um pensamento imperialista difundido entre a população europeia no período. Palavras-chave: Usos do passado; Antiquarismo; Egito Antigo; Literatura de Viagem; Sarah Belzoni; Giovanni Belzoni. / Abstract: The nineteenth century in Europe was a period marked by the development of the nations-states and their aspirations to collective histories that would legitimise a unified national identity. Therefore, during their expeditions empires such as England and France invested in studies aimed gathering knowledge of Antiquity, appropriating the images of ancient cultures to differentiate themselves from other societies in civilisational terms by establishing themselves as inheritors of the great civilisations of the past. Ancient Egypt is then rediscovered in Europe, even becoming fashionable in the continent as Europeans, from ordinary men to wealthy collectors, incessantly appropriated Egyptian antiquities. This fact intensified the presence of antiquarian travellers in North-East Africa, who would be responsible for Egypt's material culture spoliation. In this context, Sarah and Giovanni Belzoni, a couple who travelled throughout Egypt between 1816 and 1819, became responsible for the constitution of large collections of Egyptian artefacts, which are currently scattered around in museums in Europe, including the British Museum. In addition to the exhibitions, the travellers produced a travel journal, in which they reported their impressions of the local population, both modern and ancient. This Master's dissertation aims to study the narratives of those travellers, in order to observe the relationship between past and present in the context of British imperial expansion, as well as the creation and diffusion of discourses on the ancient Egyptian society. The analysis of this historical moment stimulates us to comprehend travel literature not only beyond simple reporting or fiction, but rather within a context of the construction of an imperialist thought diffused among the European population in this period. Na maneira como ela estrutura e articula um incessante di?logo, em sua escritura, com os mortos (a tradi??o dramat?rgica), sobre os mortos (as diferentes ideias e no??es de morte na vida urbana) e para os que v?o morrer, nesse caso, a sua pr?pria pessoa em forma de registro autobiogr?fico. O trabalho se det?m, especificamente, na an?lise dos seus tr?s ?ltimos trabalhos: Cleansed (Purificados, 1998), Crave (?nsia, 1998) e 4.48 Psychosis (Psicose 4:48, 2000). Levando em considera??o o desenvolvimento dos elementos e no??es que constroem o conceito de Tanatopo?tica. Dessa maneira, s?o de interesse particular para esse trabalho as no??es de escritura e escrita perform?tica para an?lise e contextualiza??o da obra da dramaturga na hist?ria teatral, uma vez que essas no??es permitem compreender e abordar a obra a partir do vi?s performativo. Para a discuss?o dessas no??es foram fundamentais as ideias de Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes, Alex Beigui, Diana Klinger e Gershom Scholem. O estudo sobre a morte e a fenomenologia tanatol?gica foi conduzido a partir da an?lise das escrituras, na sua abordagem direta ao tema, ou por meio das refer?ncias, cita??es e met?foras utilizadas pela autora para elaborar a sua po?tica da morte, ou tanatopo?tica. Para isso levaram-se em considera??o as ideias de Edgar Morin, Emmanuel Levinas, Martin Heidegger, Arthur Schopenhauer, Heiner M?ller, Vladimir Safatle, entre outros. Kane aparece neste trabalho como autora que se mostra tribut?ria ? linhagem hist?rica do Teatro do Absurdo, sem reconhecer ou assumir oficialmente sua filia??o, mas transcendendo a ela na supera??o daquele que foi o seu maior intento; a recusa ao nome, a aniquila??o e a fuga da linguagem teatral. / This research is the outcome of a theoretical-analytical consideration about the dramaturgical works of the british playwright Sarah Kane. About the way she structures and articulate an unceasing dialogue in her writings with the dead (the dramaturgical tradition); about the dead (the different ideas and notions about death in the urban life); and with the ones that are going to die, i.e. herself in autobiographical registers. The work focuses, specifically, at the analysis of her three last plays: Cleansed (1998), Crave (1998), and 4.48 Psychosis (2000), taking into consideration the development of the notions and elements that build the Thanatopoetic concept. The particular interests of this work are the notions of writing and performative writing applied to the analysis and contextualization of Kane?s work at the theatre history, since those notions allow the comprehension and approach of the plays through a performative bias. This work also identifies, develops and invests the notion of the ?Golem? character as a dual or shadow device, to discuss and enroll matters from the playwright?s intimate universe. For the discussion of these notions, the author uses ideas from Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Roland Barthes, Alex Beigui, Diana Klinger and Gershom Scholem. The study about death and the thanatological phenomenology will be conducted with the analysis of the writings, in its direct theme approach, or through references, quotations and metaphors used by the playwright to elaborate her ?Death poetic?, or Thanatopoetic. For that, the author takes into consideration the works of Edgar Morin, Emmanuel Levinas, Martin Heidegger, Arthur Schopenhauer, Heiner M?ller, Vladimir Safatle, among others. This work also identifies in Kane an author that pays tribute to the historical lineage of the Absurd theatre, without officially recognizing or assuming such affiliation, but instead transcending it with the overcoming of what was her biggest intent; the annihilation of and escape from the theatrical language.

Fingersmith is a historical novel with a clear, non-heteronormative agenda. It was published in 2002 by Sarah Waters, and it challenges the way the Victorian era viewed and oppressed non-heteronormative sexuality. The characters Susan Trinder and Maud Lilly, is exposed to both imprisonment, violence and abuse as a kind of collective punishment of “the mad woman”. The primary goal of this queer analysis is to see how ‘multisexual’ expressions can be traced in the novel, often conveyed through neo-Victorian symbols and the function of the colour ’red/crimson’. It also discusses how the neo-Victorian symbols (especially the important function of Maud’s white gloves) works as both a way of turning women mad and keeping them sane in a world determined to ’cure’ sexuality that differs from its heteronormative structure. / Fingersmith är en historisk roman med en tydlig icke-heteronormativ agenda. Den publicerades år 2002 och skrevs av Sarah Waters, och utmanar sättet den viktorianska eran såg på och förtryckte icke-heteronormativ sexualitet. Karaktärerna Susan Trinder och Maud Lilly utsätts båda för fångenskap, våld och övergrepp som en slags kollektiv bestraffning av ”den galna kvinnan”. Målet med denna queerteoretiska närläsning är att undersöka hur multisexuella uttryck kan spåras i romanen, ofta förmedlade via neo-viktorianska symboler och den röda färgen. Den diskuterar även hur de neo-viktorianska symbolerna (Mauds vita handskar fyller här en viktig funktion) fungerar både som verktyg för att driva kvinnor till galenskap och rädda dem från den, i ett samhälle som kämpar för att ’bota’ den sexualitet som skiljer sig från den heteronormativa strukturen.
