Långvarig ogiltig frånvaro i gymnasieskolan : Hur upplever gymnasieelever med långvarig ogiltig frånvaro sin skolsituation / Chronic invalid absenteeism in high school : How do high school students with chronic invalid absenteeism experience schoolAlmquist, Cecilia, Svensson, Sara January 2018 (has links)
Fem informanter deltog i studien. / Background: The occurrence of school absenteeism in Sweden is high among high school students. School absenteeism is a complex phenomenon with several causes and can lead to non-approved grades, unemployment, alienation and mental health issues. Purpose: The purpose is to describe how high school students with long-term invalid absence experience their school situation. Method: A qualitative method was used and the result was analyzed according to meaning analysis. Five informants participated in the study. Result: The study resulted in four meaning subjects which described the informants’ experiences: To experience victimization and injustice, to experience familiar and everyday relationship problems, to experience inadequate school adaption and to experience the needs of school improvements/changes. Conclusion: The study showed how important it is to adapt school to every unique student, both in an educational way and when it comes to efforts which make the student more involved and respected. School needs to address issues which involve the idea that no student should be exposed to bullying, victimization or harassments. The cause of the school absenteeism is in most cases related to the school activities. Students in this study experience that school has many areas which could be subject to improvements to avoid situations leading to chronic, invalid absenteeism. They don’t associate school with something positive and motivational, but something with a negative impact on their health.

Social policies for health and education represent fields of action and knowledge of public and strategic relevance, considering their effects in the quality of life of Brazilian population. As they are social rights, they convey political disputes and instances of direct intervention of public state power and society, interconnecting social needs, which are demanded by the population, and the ways of referring and affording them by the State. School and health programs are devices of direct execution of these policies, having availability to population as their main objective by means of their services. This thesis studies the inter-institutional relationship established by the School Health Program and schools of the city of Porto Alegre, configuring their demands for assistance and their referring fluxes. We tried to know the criteria and the respective ideological and political understandings by which schools define the situations of school vulnerability and the way they refer their students towards assistance in the public net, represented in this study by Nascas (Center of Attention to the Health of Teenagers and Children). We used triangulation of resources to produce data (document research, group interviews, and profile configuration) and, as an analytical strategy; we crossed quantitative and qualitative data by means of contents analysis and measurements of performance at school. This study comprehends eight district Nascas in Porto Alegre, using group interviews with their technicians. The analysis of referring contents of schools, as well as the elaboration of school profiles, was performed at a specific Nasca selected as a sample for this work. The multiple metamorphoses by which health and education have marked and defined their fields and contributions in the scenery of state and municipal public policies, have their fluxes of referring as a traditional way of conceiving and operating practices of health in the point of view of the medicalization of the social, which means school failure in this context. The cases of school vulnerability (failure and difficulties in learning) are conveyed by schools as a result of physical, psychological and social conditions of their students and, for this reason, motivate referring to clinical assistance. This cultural feature is analyzed by the constitution of Brazilian public context, institutionalization of education and health policies in the specificity studied, by their multiple expressions, updating conceptions of hygienist paradigm which prevailed in the relationship between the civil society and the State, in the emergence of the social issue. However, nowadays, the forms of this traditional phenomenon are different and complex and proceed by the displacement of the social control exerted by the State over the customs and moral behavior of the population to the control of drugs consumption, services and devices aimed at the “ perfect and long health “ exerted by the market. Contemporarily, the medicalization of social life is a phenomenon that invades public and private sceneries, mediated by new inflections of the industry of consumption which confine the health needs of society to market rules. In this context, social failure is a potential field for investments as long as it is conceived as a pathology which might be treated and healed by means of medicinal and therapeutic practices. We conclude that the current conditions of school vulnerability, in spite of their particularities, mirror the condition of social vulnerability to which the population of Brazil is exposed, in regard to the configurations of the capitalist system and its globalization, thus requiring an extensive society debate about its effects for the entire Brazilian population in which workers of the fields of health and education have much to contribute.

Objective: To implement education in health actions in the Federal Institute Farroupilha Alegrete campus (IFFAR / CA), integrated to the Health in School Program (PSE), standardizing activities, qualifying student assistance and stimulating the practice of themes Cross-sectional studies on health. Methodology: The research was carried out at IFFAR / CA and counted with80 students of the first year of the integrated technical course in Agriculture and 31 teachers, into two stages, with quantitative and quantitative / qualitative approaches. Data collection in the first stage (Component I) was performed through documentary analysis of the Multiprofessional Clinical Record of the institution's health sector, in a descriptive cross-sectional analytical study with a quantitative approach, and in the second stage (Component II) data collection was carried out through a semi structured online selfadministered questionnaire in the teachers, in a descriptive exploratory study with quantitative-qualitative approaches. The interpretation of the data of Component I was performed using Excel® software of Microsoft Office®, using absolute and relative values and measures of central frequency, mean and standard deviation, for the variables blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI) , dental evaluation and psychological evaluation. In Component II, quantitative data were processed using Likert scales, evaluated by the frequency distribution in each of the responses, while the qualitative data were interpreted by the thematic content analysis of Bardin. Results: Component I showed that the mean age of the students is 15.3 years, 56.25% (n = 45) are males, 53.75% (n = 43) of them are Campus and 36.25% (n = 29) come from the city of Alegrete / RS. In BMI, a prevalence of 18.75% of overweight and 6.25% of obesity was found, higher in females (20% and 11.4%) than males (17.8% and 2.2%). One hypertensive student (1.25%) was diagnosed, and students of both genders had 7.5% of pre-hypertensive individuals. Of the 68 students who underwent dental evaluation, 13% did not require intervention, 50% performed cleaning and 36.8%, restoration. 16.2% (n = 11) of the students were referred for external dental evaluation, most of them female (orthodontic treatment). 43.75% (n = 35) of the students were evaluated by the psychology sector, 20% (n = 16) for complaints of parents or teachers lacking interest or problems in classroom performance and 17.5% = 14) spontaneously sought. In Component II, 28.2% (n = 31) of the teachers answered the questionnaire; of these, 54.8% (n = 17) are female and 54.8% (n = 17) are in the age group between 30 and 39 years. 54.8% have been formed for at least 7 years, 54.9% have a master's degree and 25.8% have a PhD. Qualitative data showed that teachers have an interest in working on health topics, with the help of professionals in the area in the institution, in an innovative and continuous, interdisciplinary and multiprofessional way, and the themes suggested by them reflect those proposed by the Health in School Program. Final Considerations: It was verified that the actions of the PSE could be the institutional standard of activities of the health sector, being configured as an opportunity to meet the principle of integrality, articulating the work of health professionals and education, developing more focused actions in health promotion and allowing the expansion of adolescent care, enhancing singularities and school performance.
