Dilts, Judith A. (Judith Anne), 1941- January 1971 (has links)
This thesis has explored participation by adult volunteer workers of the Wapehani Girl Scout Council in central Indiana. This study involved 50 adults who were active members of the council at the time of the study and 50 adults who had been members of the council and were no longer active at the time of the study.A demographic questionnaire and a personality inventory were administered to each of the 100 participants in the study. The questionnaire involved the following information about each volunteer: age, sex, education, marital status, family income per year, size of community lived in, number of years in Scouting, membership in other organizations, number of children, number of daughters, number of daughters in Scouting, age at which daughters joined Scouts, and reasons for remaining or leaving Scouting. The personality inventory was the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule, and it involved 15 variables: achievement, deference, order, exhibition, autonomy, affiliation, intraception, succorance, dominance, abasement, nurturance, change, endurance, heterosexuality, and aggression.

Diseño de información y motivación hacia el material formativo de la Asociación Scouts del Perú / Design of information and motivation towards the formative material of the Scouts Association of Peru

Flores Cruz, Kamila Alexandra 02 July 2019 (has links)
Scouting is one of the largest and most recognized youth associations in the world. Its formative proposal, known as the Scout Method, works with children and young people on a personal and group level with the aim of forming better citizens. However, they have a deficit to present their formative material, causing lack of motivation among scouts to start their progression. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to redesign the training material of the Scouts of Peru Association using the tools provided by the design of information. It is expected that applying the information design as a tool can transform the training material of the Scouts of Peru Association providing an alternative that generates more motivation in scouts. The methodology used is experimental research, since it includes an experimental variable, in a fixed environment. The level of research is experimental one and the approach that has been chosen is mixed one since both the quantitative and the qualitative method will be used. The presented solution is a game for mobiles in which the scouts answer questions to go through a circuit, has the option of team play where they compete in teams. The proposal responds to the difficulties found in the current material without breaking away from the foundations of Scouting. In conclusion, after testing, 100% of scouts responded positively to the proposal, demonstrating interest in the material and motivation to start their progression, thus validating the hypothesis presented. / Trabajo de investigación

"White, Black, and Dusky": Girl Guiding in Malaya, Nigeria, India, and Australia from 1909-1960

Stanhope, Sally K. 13 July 2012 (has links)
This comparative study of Girl Guiding in Malaya, India, Nigeria, and Australia examines the dynamics of engagement between Western and non-Western women participants. Originally a program to promote feminine citizenship only to British girls, Guiding became tied up with efforts to maintain, transform, or build different kinds of imagined communities—imperial states, nationalists movements, and independent nation states. From the program’s origins in London in 1909 until 1960 the relationship of the metropole and colonies resembled a complex web of influence, adaptation, and agency. The interactions between Girl Guide officialdom headquartered in London, Guide leaders of colonized girls, and the colonized girls who joined suggest that the foundational ideology of Guiding, maternalism, became a common language that participants used to work toward different ideas and practices of civic belonging initially as members of the British Empire and later as members of independent nations.

Tramping a skauting na Vltavotýnsku jako kulturněhistorický fenomén / Tramping and scouting on Vltavotýnsko as a cultural-historical phenomenon

HLADEČEK, Jiří January 2009 (has links)
This study is about regional significance of two movements, the scouting and the tramping. Czech Junák was the one of the first movements joined the worldwide scout association. A. B. Svojsík, the founder of czech Junák, participated in progress of the international scout association. Czech Junák kept its own typical particularity thanks to taking some ideas from american woodcraft, created by E. T. Seton. Also tramping was another one symbol of czech culture in 20th century. Tramping is unique movement inspired with affinity for nature with evident influence of Setonۥs individualism and liberalism and nowdays asserts in culture sphere, especially in music. Both of this two movements, scouting and tramping had (and still have) great tradition in region of Týn nad Vltavou. Local scouting and tramping was mostly inspired by the river Vltava.

Emoční inteligence a možnosti jejího poznávání a uplatnění / Emotional intelligence and possibilities of its recognition and application

Maršálek, Jan January 2016 (has links)
The aim of the theorethical part of the thesis is to describe basic charac- teristics of concept of the emotional intelligence. The thesis summarizes two main theoretical approaches to EI: Mayer, Salovey et al. (1997) and Goleman (2000, 2011). Several currently used EI measurement methods are introduced, along with some of the principal reservations against the EI measurement as such. Practical applications of emotional intelligence along with theoretical possibilities of further development of EI are also briefly discussed. The empirical part summarizes the findings of combined quantitative- qualitative research realized in a sample of scout leaders. Using MSCEIT (Mayer et al., 2012), the research revealed that the scout leaders reached significantly lower EQ score in general EI, in Strategical EI branch and in subscales Using emotions and Understanding emotions. Reversely, they achieved significantly higher EQ score in subscale Managing emotions. The outputs of the qualitative enquiry are in direct contradiction to the quantitative outputs; the respondents agreed consentaneously that the scout education improved their emotional matureness, they also provided many particular examples and links between scouting and the develop- ment of the emotional intelligence. Possible explanations for this contrast...

Rudý nebo hnědý šátek? Společné i rozdílné osudy Pionýrské organizace a Junáka v zakladatelském období komunistického režimu v Československu / Red or brown scarf? The destinies of the Pioneer organisation and Junak in the early communist era in Czechoslovakia

Churáčková, Anna January 2021 (has links)
RÉSUMÉ The diploma thesis analyses the process of creation of the Pioneer organization, and the gradual prohibition of the Scout organization Junák by the Communist regime at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. The thesis aims to describe the view of the Junák organization by the Communist regime, and to compare both youth organizations. The first part focuses on the creation of Junák, its development up to 1945, and discusses the organization, meaning and content of the Scout educational method. The second crucial chapter describes the history of the Scout movement after World War II in the context of the post-war tendency to merge youth organizations and give them a single central leadership. The reasons and circumstances under which the Communist regime decided to suspend the activity of the Scout organization and to give full responsibility for the education of children to the Czechoslovak Youth Federation (ČSM) and its part, the Pioneer organization, are examined. The task of the Pioneer organization in the socialist society is described, so are its organization, meaning, symbols and the educational framework. The concluding chapter presents the early activities of Pioneers in the first socialist years to then discuss the socialist view of ethics and the working methods in youth work put forward by the...

Ett arv från gamla tider? Parallell utveckling: den svenska scoutrörelsens värdegrund och läroplan i kontrast till den svenska skolans moraluppfostran

Hällen, Axel January 2009 (has links)
