3D Routing with Context Awareness

Costa, Breno Jacinto Duarte da 31 January 2009 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2014-06-12T15:52:15Z (GMT).

Notched

Kristiansson, Lisa Therese January 2022 (has links)
This work investigates the area of transformable and modular clothes through the technique of notching. The idea of transformable clothes is not new. Throughout history garments have been tied, wrapped or pinned together. Transformable clothes are often seen as a sustainable option because it challenges the wearer and creates a bond making the garment more valuable. This work seeks to present a new way of draping modular clothes by pinning notching strips onto fabric, transforming it into shapes. Resulting in a collection of pieces that can be combined in many different ways, creating a large collection using a small amount of materials.

Omni - Integrera mera!

Fager, Amanda, Lönngren, Josefin, Svensson, Sofie January 2017 (has links)

Estimation methods in adaptive treatment-selection designs

Pickard, Michael 08 April 2016 (has links)
Adaptive designs can improve the efficiency of drug development, but further research is needed before some are more widely implemented. One such design is a treatment-selection design, which begins with k treatment arms, but only a subset is carried forward after an interim analysis. The final analysis of the selected arm(s) is then performed using the data from both stages of the study. One issue with this design is ensuring the Type I error rate is controlled, but there have been a number of proposals that largely address this. A second drawback that has not yet been fully addressed is that the maximum likelihood estimate of the selected arm at the final analysis is often biased upward due to the selection method. Unbiased estimators already exist for this design, but methods with an acceptable balance between bias and mean squared error (MSE) are lacking. In this dissertation, two estimation approaches are proposed. The first is a parametric bootstrap resampling method in which the level of bias adjustment applied is driven by a comparison of the observed results to those expected when all arms have equal true means. The second approach is an empirical Bayes estimator that implements a novel limited translation function. These methods are compared to previously proposed approaches with respect to bias and MSE for studies that have either a normal or binomial endpoint. Both proposed methods are shown to exhibit reduced bias with reasonable MSE in some simulated scenarios, but the resampling method consistently shows similar, or improved, performance compared to previous approaches across the examined scenarios. The utility of this resampling method is further demonstrated by showing that it can be implemented when the arm with the second largest mean is selected for stage 2. It is also shown that the resampling method can be extended to when more than one arm is selected in stage 1, when there is a futility analysis, or when the study has a time-to-event endpoint. Recommendations on confidence intervals are also provided. The results demonstrate that the parametric bootstrap resampling method is a viable estimation approach for treatment-selection designs.

Integrating Conductive Threads into Different Knitting Construction by Flat Knitting Machine to Create Stretch Sensitive Fabrics for Breathing Monitoring

Qureshi, Waqas January 2011 (has links)
During the last decade medical applications of textile sensors have been growing rapidly and textile sensors are the focal research point for many sensor projects. Textile sensors are still not available as a mainstream product to replace conventional electric sensors and electrodes. Textile sensors can be integrated in a textile garment to measure vital signs of a human being. In this regard stretch sensors are able to measure breathing rate of a person. In this project we use seamless knitting technique to make stretch sensors using conductive fibers. The resistance difference between stretching and relaxing of these sensors gives a pattern for human breathing. Four knitting structures with different conductive fibers are made and tested with cyclic tester to construct a graph between resistance and time to find the knitting structure which gives the best results. Tests are also done to check the results after washing. These sensors can be used in breathing monitoring of patients during daily life. / Program: Master Programme in Textile Technology

Ultraljudssvetsning : ett komplement eller ersättning till symaskinen? / Ultra Sonic Welding : a Complement or a Substitute of the Sewing Machine?

Evaldsson, Pernilla, Martens, Birgit January 2007 (has links)
AbstractThis bachelor thesis has been assigned by the company ACG Nyström, Borås. ACG Nyström is working in cooperation with a Swiss company named Jentschmann AG. Jentschmann is a manufacturer of ultra sonic welding machines which ACG Nyström is marketing in Scandinavia and the Baltic States. On behalf of Jentschmann AG the company has the aim to introduce the ultra sonic welding technique to new companies. The aim of this thesis is to compare traditional sewing machines with ultra sonic welding machines within two textile areas, protective clothing and outdoor living. Two investigative questions have been formulated for this purpose: what are the differences between a sewing machine and an ultra sonic welding machine? Is it possible to replace the sewing technology with ultra sonic welding? These stand as guidance for this paper. To gather knowledge interviews, literature studies, and tests on two different ultra sonic welding machines were performed. Ultra sonic welding is a technique which generates inner friction inside the material when it is exposed to pressure. The inner friction creates heat which melts the material and bonds it together. The bond needs time to stabilize before the product can be used. Not all textile materials have the contingency to bond; in this scenario tape has to be added.Ultra sonic welding machines have the same appearance as traditional sewing machines, even the sewing process is similar. Another similarity is the capacity of the two machines, which is almost identical. The sewing machine technology has one advantage: the experience and research from several centuries. Industrial sewing machines usually have the ability to perform only one task whereas an ultra sonic welding machine can perform more than one operation. One reason why ultra sonic welding machines are being used within different textile areas is the water and UV-resistance of the bond (depending on choice of material). When compared, an ultra sonic welding bond is preferable. The bond has a cleaner and daintier appearance from a designing point of view. Our research in this thesis shows that most sewing processes on the chosen products have the ability to be replaced with ultra sonic welding. / Uppsatsnivå: C
