Fritidshusturism i Värmdö kommun : En studie om dess hållbarhet och framtid

Bjursäter, Marie, Oxalaryd, Petra January 2014 (has links)
Purpose: To evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of second home tourism as a sustainable form of tourism, using the three dimensions economic, environmental and social sustainability, and to discuss the future importance of second homes for sustainable tourism in Värmdö municipality. Methods: The methods of research include four interviews with respondents connected to the future of tourism and second homes in Värmdö municipality, a survey conducted with locals of Värmdö municipality and an analysis of statistical reports and official documents. Theoretical framework: The paper is based on theories of sustainability, second homes’ impact on destinations, peak consumption and the future of second homes. Conclusions: Second homes are a positive complement to the traditional tourism that takes place in Värmdö municipality during the summer, due to the fact that second home owners visit the municipality during the remainder of the year to a greater extent than the traditional tourists. From a sustainability point of view second homes can both have a positive and a negative impact on the local community where the positive economic effects are the most prominent. The traditional tourism in Värmdö municipality is expected to increase as a result of the ongoing destination development projects. The number of second homes is predicted to gradually decrease due to many of them being turned into permanent homes and the limited construction of new second homes. The reduced supply but constant or increased demand is likely to lead to increased prices of second homes. Second homes are expected to continue to play an important role in the tourism industry in Värmdö municipality.

Transformace druhého bydlení v CHKO Kokořínsko / Transformation of Second Homes in The Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area

Šulcová, Petra January 2010 (has links)
The main content of this Thesis is the second home as a part of tourism and recreation - very popular form for leisure time. The aim of the Diploma Thesis is to monitor changes in the second home in a protected landscape area Kokořínsko. The comparison of the second home in Sudetenland and in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia is emphasised. Although this district did not belong to the important areas of the second home from the very beginning, after the Second World War Kokořínsko became more developed, mainly in the terms of cottage building. The Thesis is divided into several parts. Individual parts are important for understanding the second home in this district. The Thesis deals with a brief history of the second home in Kokořínsko and characterises the Sudetenland with the whole area from the point of view of development and localization. Concerning research methods, the Thesis uses mainly a field research method, a questionnaire survey and a statistic data research. Key words: a second home, protected landscape area Kokořínsko, folk architecture, Sudetenland

Fritidshusturismens utmaningar och möjligheter från ett kommunalt perspektiv

Viklund, Rebecca January 2020 (has links)
In Sweden, people can only be registered as a citizen in one municipality while at the same time, almost half of the Swedish population have accesses to a second home. Second home owners is therefore not visible in the public statistics which causes problems for municipalities when planning since this mobile population seems to be immobile. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of second home tourism on a municipal level and how these effects are handled by a municipal organization. The municipality of Tjörn, a municipality consisting of islands on the countryside on the Swedish west coast, is used as an example to illustrate this subject. The study is based on one group interview and one personal interview with municipal workers with different professions to examine which effects they identify from the second home tourism and how they handle this in their professions. The results shows that the second home tourism in the municipality of Tjörn concerns economical, ecological, physical and social aspects plus aspects concerning the identity of the place. This in turn demands a knowledge and information from the affected municipality to be able to handle the effects in a sustainable way.

Det dolda bostadsutbudet : En undersökning av alternativa bostäder i Skellefteå kommun

Hallström, Gustav January 2024 (has links)
Large parts of northern Sweden have seen a fast increase in many new job opportunities. Skellefteå municipality is the most prominent example of this. The company Northvolt established a factory there in 2017 which has led to a fast increase in population. This has largely been seen as positive, however it has also caused many problems for the municipality. The most pressing problem is housing. It has been hard to build new housing at a fast enough pace to match the increasing population, this has led to a housing shortage in Skellefteå.  The aim of this essay is to examine the possibilities of converting and using second homes as permanent housing in Skellefteå Municipality. Deserted houses will also be included to a lesser extent. This will be done by analyzing previous research and reports and by taking second homes from broker websites and analyzing the price and other factors in ArcGIS Pro as well as the potential costs of renovation. The results show that five types of second homes could be converted into permanent housing at a somewhat reasonable price. While many second homes are cheaper than apartments, they are still quite expensive if the costs of renovations are included. It is unclear if using second homes as permanent housing could have a large impact on the housing shortage in Skellefteå, and more research is needed to say anything for certain. Deserted houses could be converted to permanent housing, but it is unclear if there is an interest in doing so, since it could be very expensive and tedious to renovate these houses.

Druhé bydlení v oblasti středního toku Lužnice jako předstupeň amenitní migrace / Second homes in Lužnice river area as the first stage for amenity migration

ŠAŠKOVÁ, Dominika January 2016 (has links)
The presented diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of the second homes in the area around the middle stream of the river Luznice. The trend of second homes is closely connected mainly to rural tourism. Currently the number of people living in the countryside is decreasing, this leads to increasing depopulation of the countryside. Development of rural tourism and second homes, which can be described as a precursor of amenity migration can alleviate the depopulation of the Czech countryside. Those two terms: second homes and amenity migration are very frequently overlapped in our conditions so it is difficult to determine the clear border between them. The second housing represents the way of spending the free time and so it can by stated as a complex phenomena and processes connected to a recreational object, most frequently represented by a cabin or a weekend house. Some users of second homes may decide to move into their second houses permanently. In this case we call this the amenity migration. This type of migration is the movement of people from an urban area in to rural areas. The amenity migration can be understood as a migration for better environment, peace, the desire to be closer to nature and the desire for a better quality of life in general.

Vztah uživatelů druhého bydlení k přírodě / Relation of the Secondary Housing Users to Nature

Menšíková, Kateřina January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis analyses second homes in a specific region of the Lužnice river middle course (the cadastral town of Soběslav and the cadastral parcels of the Roudná, Klenovice and Skalice villages). The applied research part is based on a theoretical background research that defines basic terms, outlines appropriate topics with a connection to second homes (rural tourism, history of second homes, naturbanisation) as well as describes the analysed region. The aim of this thesis is to discover what motivates second home dwellers to use these dwellings for individual recreational activities and to identify the current situation of second home dwelling in this specific region. Another goal I have set for this thesis is to analyse how satisfied are second home dwellers with public services and facilities and whether they are thinking about converting their second (holiday) homes into permanent homes. The methodology of this thesis is based on a questionnaire analysing the second home settlements in the region specified above. The data have been evaluated using Microsoft Excel a PSPP software. Patterns of coastal tourism growth and multiple dwelling : implications for informal camping along the Ningaloo coastline

Lawrie, Misty Suanne January 2008 (has links)
Over the past few decades, the development of coastal areas has become an increasingly contested arena. For many years, tourism in remote coastal areas has been the preserve of a few intrepid campers, surfers and recreational fishers. More recently, however, numbers along parts of the coast have increased rapidly, not only contributing to an expansion of camping activity, but also pressure for more commercially oriented tourism. This has contributed to concerns about the environmental sustainability of tourism in remote coastal areas. Governments have increasingly been faced with the challenge of balancing ecological concerns with the pursuit of economic development. Adding to the complexity are the differing needs and demands of various segments of the tourism market all looking to enjoy particular places. Balancing the demands of campers, backpackers, package tourists and others in a single place is often wrought with conflict. This study explores some of these issues in a remote coastal area in Western Australia. The Ningaloo coast has evolved from a difficult to reach destination used by a small number of campers, to one of Western Australia's most popular tourist destinations in just two decades. The thesis examines the factors underlying the growth and change of tourism in the region, tracing its evolution from a few small rudimentary campsites to proposals for large scale resort developments. Of particular interest to this thesis is how planning and policy processes aim to address developmental pressures and resource use/planning conflicts. Additionally, this study provides an insight into the issues facing the informal, long term camper as the traditional segment of Ningaloo's tourism market. It examines how current planning and policy for the Ningaloo coastline affects this group by reshaping traditional tourism use of the area.

Planning for international retirement migration and expats: a case study of Udon Thani, Thailand

Koch-Schulte, John Joseph 03 March 2008 (has links)
International retirement migration (IRM) and its related fields of expatriate residency (expats), residential tourism, long-term tourism and international second homes are rapidly growing and changing. From its early modern beginnings when Northern Europeans moved to Spanish beaches in the 1950’s, geographic distribution has now expanded to include Mexico and the emerging IRM markets of Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia. A combination of many factors will contribute to the growth of IRM in the future with retiring baby boomers being the primary reason. Though the vast majority are of persons older, IRM is a misnomer for this topic as non-retired younger generations are also moving to these destinations, as they are increasingly able to work from virtually anywhere, due to the Internet economy and other trends associated with ever-increasing globalization. IRM in Udon Thani, Thailand consists almost exclusively of retired Western men marrying local women who are almost always much younger. Almost all the men first spend time in the sex tourism haven of Pattaya, Thailand before moving to the interior Northeastern city of Udon Thani at or near where their wives are from. Thus, there are many linkages and commonalities between the expatriate residents in Pattaya and Udon Thani. Without proper planning, Udon Thani will continue to adopt many of the undesirable attributes of Pattaya such as beer bars and sex tourism which are already present and growing rapidly. This practicum focuses on IRM and expats in the city of Udon Thani, Thailand and examines impacts on the host community. The practicum also tries to develop general models of IRM in different communities in developing nations and recommend planning guidelines to help deal with this phenomenon. The research methods employed included: a review of the literature, key informant interviews, informal exploratory interviews with locals and the IRM population as well as observations. Outside of planning research conducted in Spain, no IRM or expatriate research has examined planning issues in detail. This practicum attempts to establish or contribute to a body of work to aide in future work on this topic. The primary planning issues in Udon Thani were found to be: sprawling residential growth, economic development, gender issues and integration of IRM and expat populations into the local communities. IRM shares many commonalities in all its global locations. However, planning for IRM in Udon Thani and possibly other Southeast Asian communities is unique due to the homogenous makeup of male retirees who bring with them a host of Western cultural values and problems related to bars and sex tourism. It has been found that planning for IRM shares commonalities with planning for amenity migration in North American mountain communities. There are many types of IRM communities. For example, beach communities may have a population that is more seasonal and has less attachment to host communities, while interior cities such as San Miguel and Lake Chapala, Mexico as well as Udon Thani may have more permanent year-round populations. Planning issues surrounding care-giving and marriage are also examined as medical care will be a future catalyst for many of these communities. / May 2008
