Orientador: Rosa Fátima de Souza Chaloba / Banca: Carlos Henrique de Carvalho / Banca: José Vaidergorn / Resumo: Partindo da análise de três jornais da cidade de Ribeirão Preto, esta pesquisa buscou reconstituir parcialmente, na ótica da imprensa escrita, o debate educacional no interior paulista, em meados do século XX. A investigação teve como objetivos: examinar como a educação primária e a secundária foram retratadas na imprensa local; verificar como jornais de diferentes matrizes político-ideológicas debateram e elaboraram propostas para a educação; analisar o processo de urbanização e modernização da cidade de Ribeirão Preto, na ótica da imprensa local e contribuir para a ampliação do conhecimento sobre a história da educação paulista. A abordagem teórica privilegiou a história cultural. Dentro desta vertente, a pesquisa foi norteada pelos conceitos de classe, cultura e experiência, desenvolvidos pelo historiador Edward Palmer Thompson. As décadas de 40 e 50 do século XX representam, para a História do Brasil Republicano, a transição do rural para o urbano, da oligarquia para a democracia, do agrário para o industrial. Nesse processo, a educação teve um papel decisivo e estratégico. A análise dos jornais possibilitou acompanhar o crescimento da cidade de Ribeirão Preto, os problemas decorrentes do aumento populacional e como as várias camadas sociais, segundo os periódicos, se apropriaram do espaço urbano. Em relação ao ensino primário, a pesquisa evidenciou as políticas públicas, que buscaram atender as reivindicações das camadas populares e os problemas decorrentes da democratização do ensino básico, temáticas que circularam nos jornais e que demarcaram a escola pública como espaço ideal para a educação popular. Com relação ao ensino secundário, os periódicos, enalteceram as escolas e colégios, identificados como instituições tradicionais, responsáveis pela formação da elite intelectual de Ribeirão Preto... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Based on the analysis of three newspapers in the city of Ribeirao Preto, this study intend to reconstruct in part, from the point of view of the press, the educational debate in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo in the mid-twentieth century. The research aimed to examine how the primary and secondary education was portrayed in the local press, to verify how newspapers of different political and ideological matrices discussed and developed proposals for education, to analyze the process of urbanization and modernization of the city of Ribeirao Preto, in the perspective of the local media and, finally, to contribute to the expansion of knowledge about the history of education in the state of São Paulo. The theoretical approach focused on cultural history. Within this area, the research was guided by concepts of class, culture and experience, developed by the historian Edward Palmer Thompson. The decades of 1940 and 1950 of the twentieth century represent, for the History of Republican Brazil, the transition from a rural to a urban society, from oligarchy to democracy, from a agrarian economy to a industrial model. In this process education played a decisive and strategic role. The analysis of newspapers allowed following the growth of the city of Ribeirao Preto, including the problems arising from population growth and how the various social strata, according to the journals, appropriated the urban space. In relation to primary education, the research showed public policies that intended to meet the demands of the poor and the problems arising from the democratization of education, these topics circulated in newspapers and they have spotted the public school as an ideal space for popular education. Uma memória gerada em contraposição a outras memórias, que corre ao ritmo do tempo, das pessoas e das gerações. Tendo por finalidade compreender como a sociedade araraquarense construiu representações sobre a Escola Estadual Bento de Abreu, objetivamos investigar como a escola aparece nas representações dos ex-alunos no que diz respeito à concepção de escola de "boa qualidade". O estudo incide sobre o ensino de nível médio ministrado nessa escola na década de 1970, momento da implementação da Lei Federal 5.692/71 que fixou as Diretrizes e Bases para o ensino de 1º e 2º Graus no país impactando profundamente o funcionamento das escolas e a organização didática pedagógica do ensino básico brasileiro, contribuindo para a intensificação do processo de democratização desse ramo de ensino. A partir da implantação desta nova medida, este estabelecimento educacional passou a oferecer somente ensino de 2º Grau, atendendo ao nome de Instituto de Educação Estadual de 2º Grau "Bento de Abreu". Valendo-se da história oral como metodologia para coleta e análise dos dados cotejada com a documentação do Arquivo Permanente dessa escola, entrevistamos esses sujeitos que tiveram parte de sua carreira escolar nesta instituição de ensino. A memória desses entrevistados nos permitiu recuperar e investigar as representações dos sujeitos educacionais sobre essa escola, principalmente no que se refere às questões de qualidade do ensino, a relação escola-sociedade, bem como a cultura produzida por essa escola que se inseriu na formação da cultura da cidade de Araraquara. Com esse resgate busca-se compreender e aprofundar o estudo sobre a história dessa instituição educativa, contribuindo para a compreensão da educação secundária no Estado de São Paulo na década de 1970. / Abstract: Educational institutions, like people, are carriers of memories. A memory generated in contrast to other memories, which flows to the rhythm of time, people and generations. Having the aim to understand how the Araraquarense society builds representations about the State School "Bento de Abreu", we objective to investigate how the school appears in representations of ex-students with respect to conception of school in "good quality". The study focuses on teaching of high school ministered in this school in the 1970's decade, moment of implementation of Federal Law 5.692/71 that fixes Guidelines for teaching 1st and 2nd degrees in the country, impacting profoundly the functioning of schools and the didactical and pedagogical organizations teaching of basic Brazilian education, contributing to the intensification of the democratization process of this branch of education. After the implementation of this new measure, this educational establishment has offered only teaching of 2nd Degree, given the name of State Institute of Education of 2nd Degree "Bento de Abreu". Drawing on oral history as methodology for collecting and analyzing data collated by recording Permanent Archive of this school, we interviewed those subjects that had part of his school career in this educational institution. The memory of these respondents allowed us to recover and investigate the representations of educational subjects about this school, especially with regard to issues of quality of teaching, a school-society relationship, and the culture produced by this school which was included in the training culture of the city of Araraquara. With this rescue we attempt to understand and deepen the study about the history of this educational institution, contributing to the understanding of secondary education in the State of Sao Paulo in the 1970's decade. / Mestre

Os textos principais são acompanhados de case questions (questões sobre o caso), que têm o papel de estimular certo tipo de reflexão. Dos case studies em papel, passa-se para os em vídeo, bastante similares, em estrutura, aos em papel, com a diferença natural de se acrescentar mais aos casos 'contados' utilizando os recursos visuais e sonoros que o vídeo disponibiliza e a dinâmica que o hipertexto propicia. Nesta pesquisa apresentamos o Vídeo-Caso em Hipertexto (VCH) como ponto central de nossa proposta. Apontamos todo o processo de sua construção e produção finalizando com a edição do protótipo intitulado "Uma Aula sobre Sistemas Lineares no Ensino Médio". / Abstract: This study aims at presenting and discussing the process of designing and producing a Video Case in Hypertext, meant to be used both in pre- and in-service mathematics teacher education, so that those professionals can share others' experiences. Clips are accompanied by case questions (questions about the case) that try and foster discussion. From textual case studies one moves to video ones, which add a 'reality' component to the told stories, using the visual and sound resources available and, from that, we move to the hypertext format, which adds a navigational dynamics. In this study we present a prototype video-case in hypertext as the final product of the process. / Doutor

Tais características provavelmente possuem relação com a existência de uma escola a partir de 1901, inicialmente como Lyceu e, em 1929, como Ginásio Mineiro, dirigido pelo idealista prof. Salathiel de Almeida. A escola, equiparada ao Colégio Pedro II, é uma das mais antigas instituições públicas de ensino secundário do Brasil. Nela estudaram e lecionaram renomados escritores, políticos e artistas. Foi palco de inúmeros eventos artísticos e culturais, e sua história acompanhou de perto transformações políticas brasileiras da primeira metade do século XX. Salathiel foi reconhecido pelo filósofo Jackson de Figueiredo, que chamou Muzambinho de "Athenas do Sul de Minas", e Salathiel de "maior dos educadores de seu tempo". Esse trabalho trata, sob a ótica de um Educador Matemático, um pouco da História da Educação Brasileira na República Velha e Era Vargas e de suas relações com a política, e configura Muzambinho como exemplo de cidade marcada pela história de um colégio. O trabalho, feito sob a forma de História Cultural, utiliza-se principalmente de fontes primárias e produz história dessa escola e de Muzambinho, de 1901 a 1951, e suas inter-relações com a política e legislação educacional brasileira. / Abstract: Muzambinho (MG) presents unique characteristics in geopolitical, social, and cultural contexts and its student center. These characteristics probably are related to the existence of a school in 1901, initially as Lyceu and in 1929, as Ginásio Mineiro, headed by idealistic teacher Salathiel de Almeida. The school, like Colégio Pedro II, is one of the oldest institutions of secondary education in Brazil. Renowned writers, politicians and artists have studied and teach there. It was the scene of numerous artistic and cultural events, and its history has seen closely the Brazilian political changes in the first half of the twentieth Century. Salathiel was recognized by the philosopher Jackson de Figueiredo, who drew Muzambinho of "Athens of the South of Minas, and Salathiel of "the greatest educator of his time". This work is about the History of Brazilian Education in the Old Republic and Vargas Age, seen by a Maths educator perspective, and its relationship with politics, and it sets Muzambinho as an example of town marked by the story of a school. The work, done as Cultural History, is used mainly to primary sources and describes the history of the school and Muzambinho from 1901 to 1951, and also their inter-relations with the Brazilian educational policy and legislation. / Mestre
