No. of bitstreams: 0 / Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar a construção da identidade sofrida por Celie, a personagem principal no livro The Color Purple (1982) de Alice Walker, e Janie, a personagem principal no livro Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937) de Zora Neale Hurston. A abordagem empregada favorece a investigação dos aspectos: jornada, sensualidade/sexualidade, e comunidade na construção das identidades dessas personagens. A comparação entre os romances revelou que as personagens passam por um processo semelhante e usam uma estratégia semelhante, a de contar suas próprias histórias, para expor seu crescimento como sujeitos atuantes.

Após a leitura de sua poética, nos propomos a analisar os seguintes temas presentes em sua obra: o erotismo e a sensualidade em uma série de poemas em que Delfino celebra o corpo da mulher até em suas partes mais íntimas; os momentos em que o eu-poético sente-se encantado por certas partes do corpo, como os pés, as mãos e os cabelos da amada, como também, poemas em que a mulher mostra-se superior a ele; pensamos também o misticismo relacionado ao sagrado e profano, sobretudo nos poemas em que em Adão e Eva aparecem como figuras poéticas; a crucificação e morte de Jesus Cristo e a (des)crença na existência de Deus; analisamos também referências à mitologia, através da alusão a deuses e deusas da mitologia grega/romana, que são comparadas a Helena/Eugênia. Temas que nos levaram a perceber que Luiz Delfino foi poeta intertextual que enveredou por todos esses caminhos. This study it will deal with the analysis of the poetical workmanship, in the here present case, the sonets, of the poet Luiz Delfino dos Santos who, although been born in Desterro, current Florianópolis, most of its life in Rio de Janeiro lived, where if it formed doctor, was senator of the Republic and wrote its poems. After the reading of its poetical one, in we consider them to analyze the following subjects gifts in its workmanship: the erotism and the sensuality in a poem series where Delfino even celebrates the body of the woman in its closer parts; the moments where the I-poetical one is felt magic for certain parts of the body, as the feet, the hands and the hair of the loved one, as well as, poems where the woman reveals greater it; we also think the sacred and the profane , over all in poems where in Adão and Eva they appear as poetical figures; the crucification and death of Jesus Christ and the belief in the existence of God; we also analyze references to mythology, through the allusion gods and goddesses of the mythology Greek/Roman, that are compared the Helena/Eugênia. Subjects that in had taken them to perceive that Luiz Delfino was intertextual poet who to get involved for all these ways.

A proposta de Tese incidiu numa leitura interpretativa das vicissitudes eróticas manifestas sob profundos sentimentos de erotismo nas mais variadas formas. No recorte proposto, analisamos, na prosa machadiana, os desdobramentos dos interditos eróticos que se formam no contexto da sensualidade e do jogo da sedução. Assim, indagamos a temática erótica, no decurso dos contos e romances do corpus temático selecionado, através dos princípios essenciais da análise interna das narrativas. Deste modo, na leitura dos textos machadianos, buscamos sorver palavra por palavra, dita e não-dita, perscrutando seus sentidos visíveis e ocultos, sugeridos e dissimulados por meio de signos semióticos contextualizados em seus ambientes, situações e condições que incidem dos subsídios textuais apreendidos na hipótese erótica que investigamos. Os instrumentos teóricos que contribuíram na efetivação desta pesquisa estão coligados às referências bibliográficas a respeito da obra machadiana afim ao tema em análise. Acresce também que este estudo está inter-relacionado aos pensamentos de autores que defenderam pressupostos teóricos literários, ideológicos, filosóficos e psicanalíticos na busca de possíveis interpretações dos enigmas eróticos pelos quais a condição humana é confrontada. Assim, o erotismo em Machado de Assis, não escancara e, sim, insinua-se; e está constituído entre a sobriedade e a leveza até os limites da morbidez em contiguidade a uma ironia latente. A proposição erótica não é vulgarizada e nem é composta sob a conjuntura da gratuidade, pois o autor ajusta causa e efeito. O erotismo é paradoxal, pois não se mostra em plenitude e nem se esconde em sua essência. É concluso que os índices eróticos assumem variadas formas, por isso apreendem o corpo em conjunto às ideias, ou seja, Machado de Assis desnuda seus personagens física e psicologicamente cuja razão predominante refreia os arroubos passionais gratuitos sem o prejuízo descritivo dos fatos narrados no que diz respeito aos desejos radicados tanto ao corpo, (vertical) quanto à especulação psicológica, a consciência, (horizontal). / This research aims to elect certain isotopic traces which confirm the presence of “eroticism rates Machado's speech”. The proposal is to point out the obvious erotic vicissitudes under deep feelings of eroticism in various forms. It is proposed to cut, analyze, in Machado's prose, the unfolding of erotic prohibitions that form in the context of sensuality and seduction game. The research proposal involves asking the erotic theme, over the short stories and novels the selected theme corpus through the basic norms of internal analysis of the narratives. Our reading of Machado's texts, in thesis, search sipping word for word, spoken and unspoken, peering into their visible senses and hidden, suggested and hidden through semiotic signs contextualized in their environments, situations and conditions that present textual subsidies seized the erotic situation that we propose to investigate. Eroticism is paradoxical because it does not appear fully and neither hides in its essence. Thus, the erotic indices take various forms, so seize the body together with the ideas, in other words, Machado de Assis bare their physical characters and psychologically whose predominant reason restrains the free passionate outbursts without descriptive prejudice to the facts narrated about the hopeless desires rooted both to the body, (vertically) and psychological speculation, awareness, (horizontal).

Os romances discutidos constam do manuscrito 392 da Sala de Reservados da Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra. Possuem um modo de expressão sensual-religioso, característica que se pode constatar a partir do léxico utilizado pelo autor e das estruturas sintáticas ambíguas encontradas em seus romances. O objetivo deste trabalho é tornar públicos os poemas de Fonseca, tomando-se como base alguns critérios da crítica textual e considerando-se a possibilidade da existência de mais de um autor com o mesmo nome, no seu tempo. Embora não se comprove a autoria, a opção feita foi a de perseguir a temática sensual e religiosa que perpassa os poemas, que são compostos segundo a prescrição de escrita do Barroco português. Quanto à metodologia e à organização, o trabalho está dividido em a) a pesquisa sobre o nome Antônio da Fonseca; b) a leitura e tratamento dos romances a partir dos manuscritos; c) atualização da ortografia d) contextualização histórica, visando a estabelecer um diálogo entre a obra do Padre e os referenciais literários de seu tempo; e) seleção dos romances de temática sensual; f) análise de três romances; e g) preparação de uma antologia, comentando características sensuais e religiosas empregadas pelo autor. A conclusão à qual se chegou é que a temática sensualidade / religiosidade, explorada pelo Padre Antônio da Fonseca, atua em consonância com a estética do Barroco, evidenciando a figura da antítese como o mais rico recurso estético deste rol de romances aqui trabalhados. / This dissertation treats about some novels written by the priest Antônio da Fonseca Soares, author who lived around the seventeenth century. The novels make part of the manuscript 392 of the Private Room of Coimbra University General Library, and they have a sensual-religous character, characteristic that can be noticed from the lexicon used by the author, and the ambiguous structures found out in his novels. The greatest scope of this work is becoming public the poems composed by Fonseca, basing on some criteria of textual review and considering the possibility of the existence of more than one author with the same name, specifically in that time. Although it's not proved the autorship, the option chosen was pursuing the sensual and religious thematic that are in those poems, which are composed according to the written prescription of the Portuguese (from Portugal) Baroque. As for the methodology and the organization, the work was divided in: a)the research about Antônio da Fonseca's name; b)reading and dealing with the novels from the manuscripts; c)updating the ortography; d)historical contextualization aiming to stablish a dialogue between the priest's work and the literary references from his time in the composition of the poems; e)Selection of the poems with the sensual thematic; f)analysis of three novels; g)preparation of an anthology making comments about the sensual and religious characteristics used by the author; It was possible to conclude that the sensuality/religiosity thematic, explored by the priest Antônio da Fonseca, acts together with the Baroque, showing up the antithesis figure as the richest aesthetic resource among the roll of novels which were developed in this work.

Estudioso dos antigos poetas gregos e entusiasta da arte antiga, Louÿs pode, num primeiro momento ser associado à escola parnasiana. Em seus primeiros poemas, bem como em diversos momentos importantes de seu trabalho, ele dedicou-se à construção de um ambiente pagão, harmonioso e aprazível, munido de uma sensualidade bastante associada à plasticidade das formas. Porém, uma propensão singular transportou igualmente seu trabalho a outro território. Propensão esta que se revela pela adoção da temática do erotismo e, sobretudo, pela forma particular com que ele apropria-se de tal matéria. Pode-se ler em seus livros uma atmosfera bela, sensual e hedonista, que ao mesmo tempo atualiza uma das grandes tradições do erotismo literário: o humor a ironia e os excessos lúbricos postos em cena para caçoar e combater as regras morais e a hipocrisia sexual da sociedade. Na combinação desses dois ideais, um estético e outro subversivo, encontramos a face particular da produção de Louÿs que servirá de guia à nossa investigação: Como defensor de uma nova maneira, mais libertária, de pensar e de lidar com as paixões do corpo, o escritor termina por criar uma série de personagens que, armados de grande beleza e de uma graciosa ironia, cumprem o papel de contestar a moral puritana. Estamos falando prioritariamente de personagens femininas, pois no trabalho deste autor uma atenção especial é concedida às mulheres. Vasta, variada e incontestavelmente sedutora é a procissão de beldades femininas que desfilam por seus livros. Mas o elemento mais interessante a se notar nessas mulheres não se resume ao quadro de seus encantos físicos, e sim algo que segue de par com eles, a saber, uma personalidade espontânea e de tendências licenciosas, dedicada especialmente à realização de uma vida plena de beleza e prazer. Tratamos, portanto, de elencar e analisar, na obra de Pierre Louÿs, uma série de personagens femininos que possuem o atributo de funcionar como um modelo de comportamento permissivo, libertário e atraente. Modelo este que é, sobretudo, o pretexto para uma literatura valiosa, ao mesmo tempo inquietante, e muito deleitável / Abstract: This thesis is based on the work of the French writer Pierre Louÿs (1870-1925). Scholar of ancient Greek poets and enthusiastic of ancient art, Louÿs may at a first moment be associated with the Parnassian school. In his early poems, as well as various important moments in his work, he devoted himself to the construction of a pagan, harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere, equipped with a sensuality somewhat associated to the plasticity of forms. However, a singular inclination transported his work to another territory as well. This inclination is revealed by the adoption of the erotic theme, and especially by the very particular way in which he embraces it. In his books one can read a beautiful, sensual and hedonistic atmosphere which equally updates one of the great traditions of literary eroticism: humor, irony and a lascivious excess brought into play to mock and scuffle society's moral rules and sexual hypocrisy. By combining these two ideals, one aesthetic and another of moral subversion, we find the particular aspect of Louÿs's work that will guide us in our investigation: As an advocate of a new, more libertarian way of thinking and dealing with the body passions, the writer ends up creating a series of characters who, armed with great beauty and graceful irony, play the role of refuting puritanical morality. We refer mostly to female characters, as in the works of this author particular attention is given to women. Vast, varied and attractive is the undoubtedly seductive procession of beauties parading through his books. But the most interesting element to be noticed in these women is not restricted to their physical charms, but rather something that matches that up, that is, their spontaneous and licentious-prone personality, expressly devoted to achieving a life full of beauty and pleasure. We tried, thus, to list and analyze, in Pierre Louÿs's work, a series of female characters that have the attribute of working as a model of a permissive, libertarian and attractive behavior. Dentre esses personagens, encontramos membros do clero católico, celibatários, e é para eles que voltamos o nosso olhar. Pretendemos traçar as características da abordagem de Boccaccio ao tema do amor sensual no celibato clerical em dez novelle da obra e, com isso, levantar quais concepções de amor, indivíduo e natureza humana são encontradas nas entrelinhas dessas histórias. Para analisarmos o corpus, tomaremos como base a fundamentação do celibato na Igreja Católica, exposta por Brown (1990); a doutrina do amor em Boccaccio, que trata o amor sensual com realismo e naturalismo, abordada por Scaglione (1963) e Givens (1968); a retórica de Aristóteles (2006), já que os personagens usam a retórica para obter êxito na conquista amorosa; as considerações de Ó Cuilleanáin (1984) e Smarr (2014) sobre a representação decameroniana do clero; além de estudos sobre o autor e obra, como os de Auerbach (2007; 2013). Com base em Berger (1972) e Nodelman (1988), analisaremos ilustrações que representam o amor sensual praticado por personagens celibatários, feitas por Alex Cerveny. No Decameron, os clérigos são dessacralizados, retratados como homens comuns, nos quais a natureza e o instinto se fazem presentes. A nosso ver, esses homens e mulheres são levados pela instituição católica a abandonarem... / Abstract: One of the main themes in the masterpiece of Giovanni Boccaccio, the Decameron, written around 1353, is the sensual love, experienced by its characters in a realistic and naturalistic way. Among those characters, we find members of the Catholic clergy who are celibates, and who are the holders of our attention. We intend to describe the characteristics of Boccaccio's treatment of the sensual love theme in clerical celibacy in ten novelle from the book and present which conceptions of love, individual and human nature are found in those stories. To analyse the corpus, we will consider the foundation of celibacy in the Catholic Church, exposed by Brown (1990); the doctrine of love in Boccaccio, that treats sensual love with realism and naturalism, approached by Scaglione (1963) and Givens (1968); the Aristotle's rhetorics (2006), since the characters use rhetorics to succeed in loving conquest; the considerations of Ó Cuilleanáin (1984) and Smarr (2014) on the decameronian representation of the clergy; besides studies about the author and book, such as the ones by Auerbach (2007; 2013). Based on Berger (1972) and Nodelman (1988), we will analyse some illustrations which depict the sensual love experienced by celibate characters, drawn by Alex Cerveny. In the Decameron, clerics are unholy, portrayed as ordinary men, in whom nature and instinct are latent. In our view, these men and women must give up sexuality because of the Catholic Church doctrines, but they do not actually want to abdicate this aspect which is inherent to human life / Mestre
