LEADER-MEMBER EXCHANGE, DYADIC DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS AND SUBORDINATES’ TURNOVER INTENT IN REHABILITATION AGENCIESGere, Bryan Oweilayefa 01 May 2016 (has links) (PDF)
This study examined the relationship between subordinates perception of the quality of leader-member exchange (LMX) relationship, dyadic demographic factors and turnover intent in rehabilitation agencies. The sample consisted of 152 direct care employees that work with individuals with disabilities at rehabilitation organizations in the state of Illinois. In particular, the focus was on determining the best fit model that predicts turnover intent among quality of LMX, dyadic age, gender, educational level, ethnicity and duration and their two-way interactions with LMX. Participants were asked to complete the team Leader-Member Exchange scale (LMX-SLX), Turnover Intent Scale (TIS) and a demographic questionnaire. Results of the regression analysis showed that LMX significantly predicted turnover intent, β = -.272, t=-3.298, Sig. F Change = .001. None (dyadic educational level, β = -.146; dyadic ethnicity, β = .068; dyadic gender, β = .100; dyadic duration, β = -.076) of the demographic factors except dyadic age, significantly predicted turnover intent (Sig. F Change = .112). Dyadic age, β = .258, t= 2.502, p= .014 was a significant predictor, although the overall model was not significant. All (dyadic educational level_LMX, β = -.60; dyadic ethnicity_LMX, β = .037; dyadic gender_LMX, β = -.130; dyadic age_LMX, β = .071; dyadic duration_LMX, β = .071), of the interactions significantly predicted turnover intent, although the overall model was not significant. In addition, implications, limitations and delimitation, and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Design of Children's Event and Cutural Center in Osu, Accra, GhanaSomuah, Rudi 17 July 2015 (has links)
Osu, a district in central Accra, Ghana, is known for its busy commercial enterprises, countless restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Osu remains prominent in Ghana and also globally for a variety of reasons. One of such reasons is that it is arguably Ghana's most contemporary setting; second to no other location in the entire country. Osu is also the site of Ghana's seat of government- The Colonial era Christiansburg Castle which houses the president’s office and official residence. The town also plays host to several western diplomatic missions and embassies including the American Embassy. In addition to its 5 star hotels, nightclubs and multiple drive-through restaurants, what really makes Osu prominent in Ghana and elsewhere is its multiple establishments for children, such as the Osu Children's Home, and its continued philanthropy towards the betterment of the plight of displaced and underprivileged children. This thesis proposes and showcases the design of a children’s event and cultural center in Osu; to celebrate and enhance its legacy of child philanthropy. Planning and vi generative design aspects of the built artifact such as programming, site studies, and the collection of potentials for form generation, will be exhaustively addressed in this thesis.

Inclusive leadership in a new reality of work : A qualitative study with leaders in hybrid settingsVictorsson, Elin, Visuri-Möller, Emma January 2023 (has links)
Research within the field of inclusive leadership solely derives from insights from leaders practicing inclusive leadership in physical settings. Building on previous research of e-leadership in virtual settings, the purpose of this study is to make a theoretical contribution to the area of inclusive leadership by incorporating the experiences and perspectives of leaders practicing inclusive leadership in hybrid settings. In addition, a practical contribution is to provide guidance on how leaders can adapt their leadership practices to be suitable for a hybrid way of working. The research is based on a qualitative interview study with an abductive approach and collected data from semi-structured interviews with fourteen formal leaders in a wide range of industries practicing inclusive leadership in a hybrid setting. The results show that inclusive leadership is influenced when practiced in hybrid settings and the key finding of this thesis concerns that shared decision-making incorporates additional features for inclusive leaders in hybrid settings to take into consideration.

LGBT affirming environments in hospice care settingsGore, Maria 01 May 2013 (has links)
The documented experiences and perceptions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) patients receiving hospice or palliative care gives merit to the need for the implementation of LGBT affirming environments in hospice care settings. The guidelines for creating these affirming environments are described in this paper. Applying the Donabedian (1988) model of structure, process, and outcome this thesis project analyzes identified interventions relevant to the implementation of LGBT affirming environments in hospice care settings. Utilizing a formal PICO questioning method, a search strategy was devised and studies were identified based on established criteria. The results suggest that there is a paucity of data in relation to the implementation of LGBT affirming environments in hospice care settings. In an effort to assist in identifying existing interventions that have not been studied this project also includes a recommended survey tool to measure the active efforts of hospice organizations to implement LGBT affirming environments.

Interprofessional Education for School-Based SettingsMack, Brittney M. 08 August 2022 (has links)
Teamwork is essential to provide quality services to individuals with disabilities (Morrison & Gleddie, 2019). Deficits across a variety of domains make interprofessional practice even more crucial (Dobbs-Oates & Morris, 2016). Interprofessional education (IPE) provides preprofessionals the opportunity to gain experience collaborating with various disciplines, better preparing them for interprofessional practice (Anderson et al., 2011; Ruebling, et al., 2014). Most IPE research has been completed with preprofessionals engaged in medical cases. The existing evidence for IPE in school-based settings is limited, which creates a gap for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who are pursuing work in school-based settings. The first purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions and attitudes of participants following an IPE experience of a medical case with both quantitative and qualitative data. The second purpose of this study was to determine if a case could be adapted to a school-based setting. Seventy-one participants completed a survey following an IPE experience with eight later participating in a focus group. Preprofessionals self-reported interprofessional learning from the experience and recognized the importance of team interactions. The IPE experience was successfully adapted to a school-based case and in an initial program evaluation, perception of teamwork and interactions were also important. In both settings, preprofessionals rated themselves as having less bias towards others than others have towards their own disciplines. This study provides essential information regarding IPE for school-based settings that will ultimately benefit children with disabilities by encouraging interprofessional practice.

Background: In 2021, it was estimated that 12.9 percent of Sweden's population had an alcohol or drug-related substance use disorder. Alcohol and drugs cause various harmful effects that pose a danger to health and can also result in economic and social damages. Nurses play a significant role in the recovery and treatment of patients with substancerelated disorders. Nurses may encounter this patient group across all healthcare settings. Previous studies showed that patients experienced a lot of stigmas and negative attitudes during their care. Purpose: This study aimed to describe nurses' experiences of caring for patients with substance-related disorders in inpatient care. Method: A descriptive literature study was conducted, using the PubMed-database to search for articles. The results were based on ten primary studies with a qualitative approach. Main results: Nurses faced challenging caregiving experiences when treating patients with substancerelated disorders. Nurses found it particularly difficult to treat pain. Caring for patients with substance-related disorders was also described as mentally demanding due to increased workloads. The results also highlighted the presence of threats and violence, stigma, and lack of knowledge. Nurses expressed a need for further education and increased support. Conclusion: Nurses´ lack of knowledge and experience were central factors behind the challenges they faced. To improve the quality of care and promote person-centered nursing, further education and support is required. Reducing stigma around substance-related disorders is also crucial in creating a supportive care environment for patients. By increasing knowledge and comprehension, nurses can better address the challenges that arises.
