Further Development of an Audio Analyzer / Vidareutveckling av en audioanalysator

Klevhamre, Benny, Nilsson, Peter January 2002 (has links)
Arbetet avbröts p.g.a. slutdatum. A part of an audio analyzer has been developed and implemented as an application in the hardware description language VHDL. This part has later been programmed into a PLD device on a circuit board used for audio tests on mobile telephones at Flextronics. The application converts data, making it possible to send information between the telephone and different measuring instruments. The application consists of two older applications. One of them has been fully implemented. What is left in the other part is to find the cause why it is sending wrong data as unwanted noise. The work had to be stopped when deadline was reached / A part of an audio analyzer has been developed and implemented as an application in the hardware description language VHDL. 1553-Simulator. Recording and playing data traffic using FPGA

Halling, Jon January 2002 (has links)
At Saab Aerospace in Linköping, components for measurement systems to the fighter aircraft JAS 39 Gripen are developed. In this activity you sometimes want to record the traffic transmitted on the data busses that connects different sys-tems. This traffic on the data busses is using the military standard MIL-STD-1553. This project has aimed to create a system for recording and sending 1553-data. The system is used on an ordinary personal computer, equipped with a recon- figurable I/O card that among others has a programmable logic circuit (FPGA). The recorded data are stored on a hard drive. The system has a graphical user interface, where the user can configure different methods of filtering the data, and other preferences. The completed system has currently the capacity to record one channel. This works excellent and the system basically meets all the requirements stated at the start of the project. By using this system instead of the commercial available systems on the market one will get a competitive alternative. If the system where to be developed further, with more channels, it would get even more price worth. Both in case of price per channel, but also in functionality. This is because it is possible to design exactly the functions the user demands. But the current version is already fully functional and competitive compared to commercial systems.

Development of a Comprehensive Mathematical Model and Physical Interface for Manual Wheelchair Simulation

Crichlow, Larry Russell 06 December 2011 (has links)
The aim of this project is to provide a manual wheelchair simulator for advanced wheelchair research within Toronto Rehabilitation Institute‘s Challenging Environment Assessment Laboratory (CEAL). To achieve this, a comprehensive mathematical model of the wheelchair/user system and a fully adjustable physical interface (which mimics various wheelchair configurations) have been developed. The mathematical model is unique in its ability to predict complex motions such as wheelies, and is able to update the wheelchair‘s position in a virtual environment, and calculate the force-feedback required for simulating various slopes and surfaces. The physical interface is used to measure the inputs required by the mathematical model (hand-rim input torques, hand and torso positions, and user centre-of-mass position), and utilizes servo motors to provide force-feedback at the wheelchair‘s hand-rims. Preliminary results comparing real-world wheelchair motion data to the mathematical model‘s predictions are presented, along with the physical interface design and mathematical model development.

Design and Development of an Intelligent Energy Controller for Home Energy Saving in Heating/Cooling System

Abaalkhail, Rana 18 January 2012 (has links)
Energy is consumed every day at home as we perform simple tasks, such as watching television, washing dishes and heating/cooling home spaces during season of extreme weather conditions, using appliances, or turning on lights. Most often, the energy resources used in residential systems are obtained from natural gas, coal and oil. Moreover, climate change has increased awareness of a need for expendable, energy resources. As a result, carbon dioxide emissions are increasing and creating a negative effect on our environment and on our health. In fact, growing energy demands and limited natural resource might have negative impacts on our future. Therefore, saving energy is becoming an important issue in our society and it is receiving more attention from the research community. This thesis introduces a intelligent energy controller algorithm based on software agent approach that reduce the energy consumption at home for both heating and cooling spaces by considering the user’s occupancy, outdoor temperature and user’s preferences as input to the system. Thus the proposed approach takes into consideration the occupant’s preferred temperature, the occupied and unoccupied spaces, as well as the time spent in each area of the home. A Java based simulator has been implemented to simulate the algorithm for saving energy in heating and cooling systems. The results from the simulator are compared to the results of using HOT2000, which is Canada’s leading residential energy analysis and rating software developed by CanmetENERGY’s Housing, Buildings, Communities and Simulation (HBCS) group. We have calculated how much energy a home modelled will use under emulated conditions. The results showed that the implementation of the proposed energy controller algorithm can save up to 50% in energy consumption in homes dedicated to heating and cooling systems compared to the results obtained by using HOT2000.

Improving pilot understanding of TCAS through the traffic situation display

Cleveland, William Peter 02 January 2013 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to improve pilot understanding of the Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) by changing the Traffic Situation Display (TSD). This is supported by two objectives. The first objective is to create an integrated, realistic air traffic environment. This serves as an experimental platform for testing and evaluating future TCAS TSDs. The simulator environment includes a desktop flight simulator, background air traffic simulator, and intruder aircraft. The intruder aircraft uses seven dimensional waypoints to robustly follow trajectories and cause specific resolution advisories. Second, the relative benefits of, and potential concerns with, new TCAS TSDs are explored using a structured, iterative design process with subject matter ex- perts (SMEs). Incremental changes to the TSD were implemented into the simulator environment. SMEs evaluated the displays and potential points of confusion were identified. Several display features are discussed and implemented for future evaluations. These include boundary lines of TCAS variables depicted on the TSD and on a vertical situation display, speed lines which vary with the TCAS estimate of time to closest point of approach, and a prediction of the safe altitude target during a resolution advisory. Scenarios which may be confusing or misleading are discussed. These scenarios may be ameliorated or exacerbated by display features. This information is useful to guide both design and certification or operational approval and is a starting place for future TCAS experiments.

Saarinen, Christopher, Antoniadis Sahindal, Evin January 2010 (has links)
This is a thesis on D-level. In a previous course, at our program Computer Science, we came up with an idea of how to improve/complement training for new employees who are situated in a stressful workplace at companies who are in a constant need of rehiring. We developed this concept and came up with an idea for a simulator that could train staff as well as relieve stress and tension for new employees. The idea matured and became a Serious Game simulator based on a dual-wield Wii-controlled PC-based simulator with Bluetooth support. The purpose of this paper is to produce a design concept for a simulator as well as conducting research on the topics: mental and physical learning abilities, psychomotor abilities, visual perception, hand-eye coordination, confidence, simulators and Serious Games. The conducted research will be the foundation for the design concept which will be implemented in our co-workers', Henrik Djerf & Daniel Gomez-Ortega, prototype. In the time-period for this examination course most part of the basic elements of the design concept were implemented and tested. The result of the work is presented in the last chapter with images and discussion on the simulators functionality and graphical user interface.

Vehicle Dynamics Testing in Advanced DrivingSimulators Using a Single Track Model

Thellman, Jonas January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this work is to investigate if simple vehicle models are realisticand useful in simulator environment. These simple models have been parametrisedby the Department of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University and havebeen validated with good results. The models have been implemented in a simulatorenvironment and a simulator study was made with 24 participants. Eachtest person drove both slalom and double lane change manoeuvres with the simplemodels and with VTI’s advanced model. The test persons were able to successfullycomplete double lane changes for higher velocities with the linear tyre modelcompared to both the non-linear tyre model and the advanced model. The wholestudy shows that aggressive driving of a simple vehicle model with non-linear tyredynamics is perceived to be quite similar to an advanced model. It is noted significantdifferences between the simple models and the advanced model when drivingunder normal circumstances, e.g. lack of motion cueing in the simple model suchas pitch and roll.

Automatisk sortering med engreppsskördare vid slutavverkning / Automated Sorting with a Single Grip Harvester in Final Felling

Erikssohn, Per, Oscarsson, Marcus January 2005 (has links)

Iskender, Hani January 2005 (has links)
At Saab Bofors Dynamics there are projects running which purpose are to develop simulators for various weapon systems like RBS 70. In order to manage creating real working simulators Saab Bofors Dynamics has to do more research and this final thesis is a part of this process. This final thesis has been performed at Saab Bofors Dynamics in the department of modelling and simulation, RTRKM, in Karlskoga. The purpose was to develop a control algorithm which makes it possible for an aircraft to behave real when controlling through a joystick. The conclusions show that further improvements are needed before the aircraft behaves entirely by the laws of physics. Among other things it is necessary to decrease the number of delimitations that have been done.

Construction of a Simulator for the Siemens Gas Turbine SGT-600

Nordström, Lisa January 2005 (has links)
This thesis covers the development of a simulator for the Siemens Gas Tur-bine SGT-600. An explanation on how a gas turbine works is also given, as well as the principles behind the control system used by Siemens to control the turbine. For Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery to be able to test its control sys-tem before delivering a gas turbine to the customer, a simulator is needed. The control system needs to be adjusted for every unique gas turbine, since there are several options for the customer to choose between when ordering the turbine. A control system standard is under development, which also needs to be tested in a simulator. The framework for the simulator, i.e. the hardware and software that form the simulator system, was predefined to suit this specific purpose. The Siemens software SIMIT is used for developing the model. SIMIT is a real time simulation tool where models are constructed using blocks, similar to MATLAB Simulink. A gas turbine is basically a heat engine that produces mechanical energy or electricity. The main task of the control system is to control the fuel flow to the combustion chamber and by that keeping the machine at desired speed. The gas turbine model was developed using measurement data from a site in Hungary, where a gas turbine of the type SGT-600 is in service. The model is based on simplified relations between the signals. By analyzing measurement data and learning about the functionality of a gas turbine it was found out that the speed of the gas generator affected most other sig-nals, like temperatures and pressures. The gas generator speed was found to be dependent on the heat flow, which is determined by the openings of the gas control valves. As a result of this thesis a working simulator for the gas turbine SGT-600 has been developed. The simulator can be used for testing the control sys-tem standard and for testing the control system when adapting it to a spe-cific delivery. It is also suitable for educational purposes, for example to instruct customers.
