Purpose: The purpose of this study is to clarify and analyze alienation, as a social phenomenon described in two teenage books. The study will also examine the creation of sympathy towards main characters and what impact the novel as a whole could have on it. The intention is also to uncover the role of the Other, as well as to visualize the creation of distance between different ethnic groups. Method: The study is based on a qualitative text-analysis. It includes four different dimensions, including the author’s background and the researcher´s interpretation. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that it´s possible to find values in both of the novels, and therefore makes it possible to create opinions and statements that may contribute to alienation. It also demonstrates that alienation can appear in different forms based on the characters different background. Question formulation: What attitudes and values towards immigration, ethnicity and alienation can be found in the two novels? How are they conveyed in the two novels? What differences and similarities could be found in the characters' ethnic alienation?

Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur lärare arbetar med läsläxan gällande både för- och efterarbete samt vilket syfte läsläxan har. I studien vill vi även se till vårdnadshavares perspektiv gällande deras syn på deras barns läsläxa. Studiens underlag utgörs av både en intervjumetod och en enkätundersökning. Resultatet visar att lärares syfte med läsläxan är att kunna möjliggöra elevers fortsatta läsutveckling, eftersom det krävs mycket träning för att nå ett gott läsflyt. Lärarna påtalar vikten av att ha ett planerat för- och efterarbete kring läsläxan men att efterarbetet ses som ett hinder, på grund av att det är för stora elevgrupper och att tiden inte räcker till att lyssna på alla elevers läsning. Resultatet visar att det behövs ett gott samarbete mellan skola och hem. Läsläxan görs i hemmet och detta medför att ett ansvar läggs på vårdnadshavare när det kommer till elevers fortsatta läsutveckling. Både lärare och vårdnadshavare uttrycker sig ha ett gott samarbete mellan varandra för att eleverna ska nå målet, att bli goda läsare. Samtliga lärare säger att de ger tydlig information gällande läsläxan men däremot visar resultatet enligt vårdnadshavare att informationen brister gällande läsläxan. Resultatet visar däremot att vårdnadshavare är engagerade och delaktiga i sina barns läsläxa.

The aim of this study is to investigate four teachers’ ideas and experiences of Information and Computer Technologies (ICT) in the early years of learning to read in the lower grades of school. This is done with the aid of qualitative interviews. The results of the interviews are then discussed on the basis of Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory. The informants work in three different municipalities in southern Sweden. The study presents research that is both positive and negative to the use of computers or tablets instead of pen and paper in the teaching of writing. The study also aims to elucidate the informants’ perception of advantages and disadvantages of ICT in teaching. The result shows that the informants have a positive view of ICT as a complement in their teaching. The informants, however, are limited by external factors such as access to technical tools and Internet connections, which causes frustration and has the effect that they get relatively little actual experience of it. The teacher’s technical competence and the age of the pupils also affect the working methods and the pupils’ assignments. / Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka fyra lärares föreställningar om och erfarenheter av IKT i den tidiga läsinlärningen, för skolans yngre årskurser. Detta görs med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer. Resultatet från intervjuerna diskuteras sedan utifrån Vygotskijs sociokulturella teori. Informanterna arbetar i tre olika kommuner i södra Sverige. I studien presenteras forskning som är både positiv och negativ till att använda dator eller surfplatta istället för penna och papper i skrivundervisningen. Studien syftar även till att belysa informanternas upplevda för- och nackdelar med IKT i undervisningen. Resultatet visar att informanterna är positivt inställda till IKT som ett komplement i undervisningen. Informanterna begränsas dock av yttre faktorer som tillgång på tekniska verktyg och internetuppkoppling, vilket dels skapar frustrationer, dels leder till att deras erfarenheter är förhållandevis få. Även lärarens tekniska kompetens och elevernas ålder påverkar arbetssätt och uppgifter.
