O estrategista brasileiro da micro, pequena e média empresa privada nacional

It's also true that the major theories in strategy, especially from the classic school, the oldest and most influent in this field, were originated from empirical studies in large ¿ if not giant ¿ companies, many of them currently present in Brazil. The micro, small and medium Brazilian companies, of well known social and economical importance to the country, and its strategists are certainly not inert to this knowledge, but it doesn¿t necessarily means it can be applied with success in such different context. Previous studies indicate that this strategist makes use of intuition and is not very friendly with bureaucratic controls, but, in reality, the profile of this Brazilian executive is still unknown. Naturally, we do not expect this profile to be static in time, but reactive to changes on business environment, especially with the current globalization process. This research, aiming at knowing the profile of the Brazilian strategist of micro, small and medium companies and through an intensive revision on strategy literature, has built a mathematical model by the use of factor analysis, that can be applied in future studies. A new typology to understand the strategic thinking of these leaders is proposed. The conclusion shows that, for the executives in this research, intuition is not predominant on their decisions. Although more rational than intuitive, they refuse the idea of being purely rational. Besides, in the strategy formation process, they tend to have a collective spirit rather than deciding alone and to believe in the importance of being formal, planning and registering their intentions. / É indiscutível a liderança da literatura norte americana no campo da estratégia empresarial e sua consequente influência no mundo científico e empresarial brasileiro. É também verdade que as grandes teorias, em especial as que fazem parte da escola clássica, a mais antiga e influente no campo, derivaram de estudos empíricos em grandes empresas estrangeiras, quando não corporações gigantescas multidivisionadas, muitas delas hoje presentes em território brasileiro. As micro, pequenas e médias empresas brasileiras (MPME) ¿ de sabida importância no cenário sócio-econômico do país ¿ e seus estrategistas certamente não estão inertes a este conhecimento, mas tampouco se pode garantir o sucesso de sua aplicabilidade num cenário tão específico e distinto. Estudos anteriores atestam que este estrategista é mais intuitivo e avesso a controles burocráticos, mas a grande verdade é que pouco se conhece do real perfil dos executivos das MPMEs no que se refere ao processo de formação da estratégia. Evidentemente, não se espera que este perfil seja estático, atemporal, mas reativo às alterações do tempo e do ambiente, especialmente neste atual mundo globalizado. Este estudo, objetivando conhecer o perfil do estrategista brasileiro da MPME privada nacional e através de ampla revisão das teorias em estratégia, construiu uma escala matemática por meio da aplicação de análise fatorial, propondo uma tipologia que permita compreender a natureza do pensamento estratégico destes líderes. A utilização desta escala ¿ que pode ser aplicada em futuras pesquisas ¿ indicou que, no universo de strategistas pesquisados, a intuição é arma complementar, mas não predominante. Este estrategista, embora mais racional que intuitivo, não crê que a razão pura seja suficiente para suas tomadas de decisão. Além disso, possui um caráter coletivo acentuado para formação da estratégia e valoriza o formalismo, caráter no qual demonstra acreditar na importância de planejar e registrar suas intenções.

The presented thesis deals with the possibilities of using techniques of Competitive Intelligence (hereafter CI) for small and medium companies. Its aim is mainly to analyze the possibilities of CI method in case of a specific company in the field of small and medium enterprises. The first part provides comprehensive overview of theoretical information, which is necessary to identify the concept of CI. It begins with definitions of CI and then continues with more detailed description of the field. Next, characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises are introduced, as well as the possible use of CI in these enterprises. Finally, various methods such as SLEPT analysis, Porter's five forces model, SWOT analysis, and others are described in detail. The practical part of the work deals not only with description of a particular company in the field of building design and architecture, but also with crucial part of the thesis, exploration of external background of the company using these analytical methods and proposal of the proper use of information resources according to needs of the company. The last chapter deals with a suitable method of application of CI in the field of architecture and construction, providing summarized suggestions for the specific company as well as for the sphere of business in general.

Aplicação da ferramenta planejamento financeiro em empresas do setor automobilístico : um estudo sobre as pequenas e médias empresas do município de Taubaté

O atual cenário econômico mundial é marcado pelo acirramento da concorrência entre as empresas, devido, em parte, à globalização dos mercados. Nesse ambiente competitivo, as ferramentas gerenciais figuram como essenciais para auxiliar o processo de tomada de decisão das organizações. A indústria automobilística tem sofrido profundas mudanças, especialmente ao longo dos últimos dez anos, como consequência da globalização e das turbulências na economia mundial. A cadeia da indústria automobilística integra pequenas e médias empresas, na condição de fornecedoras de peças e de serviços para as grandes montadoras. Essa característica do setor implica pequenas e médias empresas figurando como dependentes de grandes organizações, as quais dispõem de sofisticadas ferramentas de gerenciamento, seja da produção, seja da gestão do negócio. Nesta dissertação é abordado o uso do planejamento financeiro no processo de gestão das pequenas e médias empresas da cadeia automobilística do vale do Paraíba Paulista que operam na cidade de Taubaté. A partir do estudo bibliográfico sobre o uso do planejamento financeiro considerado como ferramenta de auxílio à tomada de decisão gerencial , foi elaborado um questionário, contendo somente questões do tipo fechadas. As questões foram respondidas por uma amostra de gerentes das organizações estudadas, obtida a partir do cadastro da CIESP; a significância da amostra é de dez por cento. A partir das respostas obtidas, foi possível verificar que o planejamento financeiro é usado na gestão das empresas como ferramenta de auxílio no processo de tomada de decisão. Os resultados indicam, ainda, que as empresas estudadas adotam ferramentas gerenciais para se manterem em um setor onde são dependentes de empresas de grande porte, as quais adotam sofisticadas técnicas de planejamento. / The current world scenario is market by increased competition between firms, due, in part, to globalization of markets. In this competitive environment, th management tools included as essential to assist the process of decision-making organizations. The automotive industry has undergone profound changes, especially over the last ten year, as a result of globalization and turbulence in the global economy. The chain of automotive includes small and medium companies, provided that supply parts and services for large automarkers. This characteristic of sectors involves small and medium companies ranks as dependent on large organizations, which have sopisticated management tools, whether in production, whether business management. This dissertation has addressed the use of financial planning in the process of management of small and medium companies of automotive chain of Paraíba Paulista Valley that operating in the Taubaté city. From bibliographic studying on the use of financial planning - considered as a tool to aid management decision making - was drawn up a questionnaire with only closed-type questions. The questions were answered by a sample of managers of the organizations studied, obtained from the records of CIESP; the significance of the sample is ten percent. From the answers obtained, we observed that financial planning is used in business management as a tool to aid in the process of decision making. The results also show that the studied companies adopt management tools to stay in an industry where they are dependent on big companies, which adopt sophisticated planning techniques.

INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF LEAN SIX SIGMA PRINCIPLES ON ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING DATA GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS IN SMES: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY USING GROUNDED THEORY AND ISM APPROACH

<p>Data Governance and Data Privacy are critical aspects of organizational management that are widely utilized across all organizational scales. However, this research focused specifically on the significance of Data Governance and Data Privacy in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). While the importance of maintaining these systems is paramount across all organizations, the challenges faced by SMEs in maintaining these systems are greater due to their limited resources. These challenges include potential errors such as data leaks, use of corrupted data, or insufficient data, as well as the difficulty in identifying clear roles and responsibilities regarding data handling. To address these challenges, this research investigated the impact of utilizing Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and practices to overcome the anticipated gaps and challenges in SMEs. The qualitative methodology utilized is a grounded theory design, chosen due to the limited understanding of the best LSS practices for achieving data governance and data privacy in SMEs and how LSS can improve the adoption of data governance concerning privacy in SMEs. Data were collected using semi-structured interview questions that were reviewed by an expert panel and pilot tested. The sampling method included purposive, snowballing, and theoretical sampling, resulting in 20 participants being selected for interviews. Open, axial, and selective coding were performed, resulting in the development of a grounded theory. The obtained data were imported into NVivo, a qualitative analysis software program, to compare responses, categorize them into themes and groups, and develop a conceptual framework for Data Governance and Data Privacy. An iterative data collection and analysis approach was conducted to ensure that all aspects were considered. The applied grounded theory resulted in retrieving the themes used to generate a theory from the participants’ descriptions of LSS, SMEs, data governance, and data privacy. Finally, ISM technique has been applied to identify the relationships between the concepts and factors resulted from the grounded theory. It helps arranging the levels the criteria, drawing the relationships in a flowchart, and providing valuable insights to the researcher. </p>
