Consumer behaviour towards cause related marketing in the greater eThekweni region

Corbishley, Karen Margaret January 2007 (has links)
Thesis (M.Tech.: Marketing)-Dept. of Marketing, Durban University of Technology, 2007. xv, 205 leaves / Cause related marketing (CRM) is becoming a popular marketing strategy used by brand managers, retailers and service companies. It can be described as a marketing strategy that links charities or ‘causes’ with the sales of a product, brand or service. The charity is mentioned in promotional campaigns and a certain percentage is donated to the cause in accordance with unit sales or turnover. A study was conducted in the eThekweni region of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa to gather information on this issue. The study was a quantitative survey and data was collected by means of an interview process. The overall objective of this study was to gain an understanding of consumer behaviour towards companies using CRM in the greater eThekweni region. This objective was made up of three sub-objectives. The first subobjective was to identify whether eThwekeni consumers would switch brands to a company involved with CRM, if price and quality were equal. This was followed by subobjective two, which was to establish whether particular socio-demographic characteristics of consumers would be related to their evaluation of a CRM offer. Finally, sub-objective three was to establish whether those same socio-demographic characteristics would be related to the selection of specific causes.

: Analysis of Systembolaget's approach to not entice the purchase of alcohol in their commercial "Exercising & Drinking"

Larsson, Fredrik January 2018 (has links)
‘A society where alcohol can be enjoyed with care for one’s health so that no one takes damage’ is the vision of Sweden’s alcohol monopoly Systembolaget. In its foundation Systembolaget aims to always inform citizens of the risks associated with alcohol consumption through various ways of marketing, without ever encouraging its recipients to buy alcohol. Since Systembolaget is a monopoly there is no other way to turn, which makes it paramount that they do not abuse their position of power to break their vows of engaging in this social marketing. This paper aims to explore how well Systembolaget keeps to not overlapping regular marketing with its own societal engagement, through a semiotic analysis of one of their campaign films called “Exercising & Drinking”– also with two interviews of people related to the making of this film.Regarding the results it seems as if they have failed to keep their promise of informing the involved risks of alcohol consumption in this particular film. Here they have also failed in their pursuit of not encouraging the consumption of alcohol, though not directly– They portrayed social gatherings of happy people consuming alcoholic beverages in various locations such as pubs, restaurants, parties, clubs and at home. This is a dubious crossing of their foundation, though a crossing nonetheless. The implications of this paper can be summed up as Systembolaget having failed in their social marketing, meaning that if they’ve done it once they could most certainly have done it again, which makes it important that future campaigns be scrutinized for further mistakes. For companies in a position of power as immense as Systembolaget, continued scrutiny so that no boundaries are overstepped is of major importance

Meira, Paulo Ricardo dos Santos January 2010 (has links)
Marketing, as a whole, has been demanded on its accountability to give evidence of good practice in return of investments. The same situation challenges social marketing. This doctoral thesis examined evaluation structural frameworks brought by marketing literature, in quest of the “ideal” framework of evaluation, based on academic articles review, market actual practice, experts opinion, and an empirical examination of the proposal in two real cases, the “pedestrian crossing new signal case” of Porto Alegre City Hall, and the Immunological Programme of the Public Health State Center (CESV/RS) of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul. The essentially qualitative methodology involved Delphi research, in-depth interviews and case studies. The structural framework eventually developed integrates Input, Process and Outcomes dimensions of evaluation, each one with its due variables, indicators and forms or measurement. The ethical issue is pervasive in all dimensions, but not with a easy way of assessment.

PAULO ALEXANDRE DA FONSECA MOREIRA 27 May 2009 (has links)
[en] Concept social responsibility practiced by companies has gone through paradigms regarding economic-legal, it goes through the ethical-philanthropic set of ideas and having as a highlight point the detachment from proactive social responsibility, incorporated to the corporate decision process and attentive to relationships with stakeholders. No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2576011 bytes, checksum: 916dfddb97da18f4010865248eecd77d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-09-17 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The research studied childhood obesity as a problem of macromarketing scope, aiming to identify the contributing factors for their growth and how these factors are configured between parents and children, to understand the behavioural influences this context that are amenable to intervention social marketing for changing harmful behaviours. Thus, the study had the objective of building a theoretical framework of behavioural factors relevant to childhood obesity, configure key factors relevant to social marketing associated with parents and children, and finally, based on the relationships among the factors, analyse stocks government to support the development of effective public policies. In this sense, the theoretical framework discussed issues related to expanded marketing vision, outlining this research in a perspective of macromarketing and social marketing against a backdrop of bad food intake and prior to public health problems such as obesity. From a qualitative approach, the method used was the interview with semi-structured and in-depth itineraries, applied to the main agents of change this reality, parents of children overweight or obese with up to 12 full years. For this, 17 mothers were interviewed by audio recording and subsequently the interviews were transcribed and systematized according to categories (factors and sub-factors) pre-defined and interrelated dimensions microenvironmental and macroenvironmental the study. In the data analysis it can be seen that the lines are representative of the factors studied in the research and converging to the discussion in the applied literature, showing a growing and multi-sector scenario of childhood obesity, and subject to social marketing interventions in negative behaviours and drivers of disease. From the analysis it was possible to add four new factors of childhood obesity in this study, which emerged from the analysed reports: bullying, aggression, anxiety for food and use of medicines; these can be viewed as obesity frame consequences and in some instances, causes the increased amount of food intake. Generally, the family, the parents' role, is the major factor in the prevalence of overweight, however, these actors, parents and children, are strongly influenced the child's living environment (micro) and external and social environment (macro). That said, on the assumption that the study demonstrates a systemic and systematic way to shape the behavioural factors of influence of childhood obesity, suggests the use of social marketing expertise along with information about the real scenario of Brazilian childhood obesity to development of effective public policies and far-reaching. Thus, it is expected that the relationship between the factors and the design of how to shape the lives of those surveyed serve as government and social stimulus to behavior change through actions and interventions with a strategic and comprehensive vision. Also recommended the inclusion of social marketing stakeholders, based on Benchmark Criteria Andreasen (2002), to achieve a reduction in obesity in Brazil by promoting health effectively, educating and mobilizing the community, parents and the children.

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2272874 bytes, checksum: 93e7a81c9ba6d5726bc15d51fef81b2d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-08-23 / This paper goal was to identify which are the behavioral conditionings that influence the buying intention of ultraprocessed food and beverage, under the social marketing optics. The literature review made possible, through analysis of food consumption researches, to comprehend the factors and their relationship with the dimensions of interest in this paper (ultraprocessed buy-intention, attitude toward the ultraprocessed, subjective norm, self-efficacy and perceived control), resulting in nine hypotheses to empirical verification. The methodological procedures involved the creation of a questionnaire with scales that have been validated in other studies, being just adapted to this one. With the available data, we made an initial exploratory analysis, followed up by descriptive analysis, factor analysis and the use of structural equation modeling in order to verify the hypotheses. We found that convenience and sensorial appeal are the main factors that significantly contribute to a positive attitude regarding ultraprocessed food, and that they influence the buying intention of these products. This last one gets a strong negative influence from the self-efficacy construct, pointing out the importance of the individual's intern control to avoid the consumption of harmful to health food. Another important finding of the paper is the significantly interference of the facilitators construct to self-efficacy, showing that the impossibility to cook and the fact of eating by itself hinders the individual's control over its feeding choices.

The present work had as objective to place and to discuss, starting from certain concepts, the performance of the Third Sector, as a new one enterprising social, front to the State (First Sector) and the Market (Second Sector). Understood by many as development possibility for the democracy and of the future of the international political and economic relationships, by means of to a civil society with more activity, it has if turned center of the attention of the media and objective of interest for the scientific community. The terminology Third Sector had origin in United States in the end of the seventies and, exactly for that recent appearance and its excessive inclusion, it still provokes plenty of discussion. No-government organizations (ONG), foundations, associations, volunteers' informal groups, institutions without lucrative ends, organizations of the civil society of public interest (OSCIP) and even parties politicians they are among the involved actors, where public's concepts and private they resemble to confuse. Another characteristic of the Third Sector is the interesting possibility that opens for the private investment that, besides the benefits and fiscal exemptions that it provides to its partners, it can also work as effective communication tool. For the accomplishment of that work they were chosen two institutions of the Third Sector, of Assis' area, with different characteristics: 1) a foundation, directly linked at a great private company and 2) an autonomous philanthropic institution without lucrative ends, both with performance in the area of the childhood and adolescence. Through interviews accomplished in the institutions, the opinions of the subjects, employees and volunteers were picked, selected by the area of performance, that they were interpreted according ...(Complete abstract, click electronic access below)
