Konfuciánské hodnoty a čínská politická tradice / Confucian Values and the Chinese Political TraditionZhang, Zhe January 2021 (has links)
Culture and politics are inseparable. How to realize the cultural factors of Chinese traditional politics and its influence and enlightenment on the contemporary era has been one of the most important issues with great concern of the academic community. Starting from Confucianism, this paper uses qualitative analysis and Marxist theory of cultural criticism to provide an in-depth interpretation of traditional Chinese politics. The main content of the paper is divided into three parts. The first part provides a systematic study of the background of the emergence of Confucian political philosophy in the pre-Qin period. Its main content covers the economic, political, and cultural aspects of the Warring States period. The second part analyzes the values of pre-Qin Confucian political philosophy. This part mainly deals with the theories of heavenly and human nature of three Confucian scholars, Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. The third part interprets traditional Chinese politics in the context of Confucianism by focusing on the blood patriarchal culture, the social-based culture, the ethical culture, and the political culture of the sages, respectively. Perceived Burdensomeness: Exploring Potential Vulnerability FactorsSaxton, Brandon T. January 2019 (has links)
Suicide affects hundreds of thousands of people around the world each year. Despite many coordinated efforts to address this problem, in multiple domains, these numbers have risen over the last decade. The Interpersonal Theory of Suicide is a relatively recent theory that has received considerable attention and investigation. Perceived burdensomeness is one of the constructs from this theory. The belief that you are a burden on others is a robust predictor of suicidal ideation and, to a less understood extent, suicidal behavior. To my knowledge, few studies have looked at the factors that lead to perceived burdensomeness. This study was conducted to begin to address this gap in the literature. Attributional style, hopelessness, socially-prescribed perfectionism, and self-esteem were identified as potential vulnerability factors for perceived burdensomeness. One hundred twenty individuals were surveyed about these constructs and perceived burdensomeness. Participants were also asked to read three vignettes based on interviews with individuals with lived experiences related to suicide attempts. Following each vignette, participants were asked to report the level of perceived burdensomeness that they anticipated that they would feel in that situation as an additional analogue measure of perceived burdensomeness. It was found that attributional style, socially-prescribed perfectionism, and self-esteem predicted current levels of perceived burdensomeness. Self-esteem was the only variable that predicted analogue levels of perceived burdensomeness, beyond current levels of depression. This exploratory study has the potential to contribute to the literature by guiding and informing future research related to better understanding or reducing perceived burdensomeness.

For students who want to make a difference in college and beyond, involvement in a variety of available leadership positions while in college can lead to gains in many areas-and most importantly, the ability to work respectfully, flexibly, and effectively with an increasingly diverse population. While it is widely acknowledged that leadership qualities and skills are principally learned and developed (rather than inherently innate to the individual), scholars are less certain as to the specific variables and values that result in socially responsible leadership skills among college students. The Resident Assistant (RA) represents a pivotal student leadership role on campus-but it is not the only way for students to assume an influential and skills-building leadership role. Other student leaders (OSLs), encompassed herein under the umbrella title of "peer helpers," include peer counselors, peer educators, and tutors.
College and university educators are striving to develop leaders to be effective in an increasingly diverse society through a variety of methods including co-curricular opportunities. The implementation of targeted leadership development opportunities represents another way to meet this goal. The Social Change Model (SCM) of Leadership Development, which consists of seven core value (citizenship, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, consciousness of self, congruence, and commitment), was created to help educate college students by focusing on positive social change through leadership.
Given the lack of research examining leadership outcomes from serving in the RA position, this quantitative investigation was designed to compare SCM values in RAs to the analogous values in OSLs to determine if there were differences between the two cohorts with respect to socially responsible leadership. In short, are outcomes associated with socially responsible leadership due to being a student leader in general, or will serving in the RA role be more advantageous in developing those skills? An additional goal was to determine to what degree elements of the Social Change Model (SCM) could predict a student leader serving as a RA or in another role as an OSL. Findings from this investigation were based on responses from the 2012 iteration of the Multi-institutional Study on Leadership (MSL). A careful analysis of the data revealed that the SCM value of "citizenship" was the only one among the seven that could predict a student leader serving as an RA over an OSL; in contrast, RAs did not score significantly higher than OSLs on any of the other remaining six values. Although there is a large body of work related to RA performance, further research is needed to understand the relationship between the performance of student leaders who serve in this role and SCM values. / Ph. En global trend inom finansbranschen har varit ett ökat intresse för hållbara och ansvarsfulla investeringar från både privata investerare som vid fondbolagens komponering av fonder. I Sverige sparar majoriteten av befolkningen i fonder och en markant tillväxt bland hållbara fonder har skett. Det privata sparandet har flyttats från sparkonto till olika typer av värdepapper såsom fonder. Trots det ökade intresset föreligger ingen definition av hållbara investeringar. Syftet med studien var att förklara urvalsprocessen vid komponering av hållbara placeringsprodukter för att öka investerares kunskap om vilka premisser fondbolag inkluderar i Socially Responsible Investments fonder. I studien intervjuades tre hållbarhetsansvariga i svenska fondbolag samt en aktieanalytiker. Intervjufrågorna kretsade kring vilka premisser fondbolagen inkluderar i sina hållbara fonder samtidigt fick respondenten belysa sin framtidstro på hållbara fonder. Studiens resultat visade på att samtliga fondbolag använder samma urvalsmetoder och följde samma urvalskriterier vid komponering av sina hållbara placeringsprodukter. Legitimitet och ekonomiskt incitament är bidragande begrepp i föreliggande studie. Resultatet som framkom var att även ifall fondbolagen tagit beslut utifrån det ena incitament så finns det kopplingar till det andra underliggande incitamentet. / A global trend in the financial sector has been an increased interest in sustainable and responsible investments from both private investors and the fund companies' composition of funds. In Sweden, most of the population saves in funds and a significant growth among sustainable funds has taken place. Private savings have been transferred from savings accounts to various types of securities such as funds. Despite the increased interest, there is no definition of sustainable investment. The purpose of the study was to explain the selection process when composing sustainable investment products to increase investors' knowledge of the premises of fund companies in Socially Responsible Investment funds.The study interviewed three sustainability managers in Swedish fund companies and one equity analyst. The interview questions revolved around what premises the fund companies include in their sustainable funds at the same time the respondent had to shed light on his future belief in sustainable funds. The study's results showed that all fund companies use the same selection methods and followed the same selection criteria when composing their sustainable investment products. Legitimacy and financial incentive are contributing concepts in the present study. The result that emerged was that even if the fund companies made decisions based on one incentive, there are links to the other underlying incentive.

Socially excluded localities are found all over the Czech Republic. They are whole neighbourhoods, houses or streets, usually situated on the outskirts of towns, threatened by a symbolic, territorial, cultural, economic and social exclusion. The inhabitants of the socially excluded localities usually have debts with the town, which is the reason why they were moved to this locality. Problems that frequently occur in the socially excluded localities include insufficient education, high unemployment rate, financial problems and a high occurrence of socially pathological phenomena. Drawing on the facts obtained, it is possible to recommend social services that missing here at present. At the same time, the results of this thesis may serve to social workers as a detailed survey of the social situation of the locality in question.
