Leveraging External Sources of Innovation with the Application of Collaborative Software Tools : The case of SMEsNilsson, Fanny, Sturedahl, Jennifer January 2021 (has links)
Background – Leveraging external sources of innovation (ESI) is found to be vital for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) innovation work as they commonly suffer from a lack of resources to facilitate and execute this work. The interaction with the external environment does, in turn, enable access to knowledge and capabilities that SMEs currently not possess. Moreover, as collaborative software tools (CSTs) have proven to play a critical role in today’s innovation processes and have transformed the way of interacting with the external environment, it becomes obvious that research in this field must account for the usage of these tools. CSTs have a significant impact on communication, cooperation, and coordination and are, therefore, widely used to facilitate collaborations in intra-organizational groups. Thus, these tools can be beneficial for SMEs as it provides them with greater access and availability to the external environment. Purpose – This research aims to understand how SMEs can leverage external sources of innovation with the application of collaborative software tools and develop fruitful insights that can be used to facilitate innovation work for SMEs that typically lack internal resources. Method – This study approaches the underlying philosophy of a relativist ontology, a social constructionist epistemology, and iterative grounded theory. For the methodology, empirical data was collected through 31 semi-structured interviews with participants from SMEs and their ESI in the region of Jönköping County following a purposive sampling method. The empirical data was further analyzed by conducting a grounded theory strategy for process analysis. Findings – We develop two processes illustrating how SMEs can leverage ESI with the application of CSTs. It was found that the application of CSTs in these processes enables SMEs to explore, acquire, and utilize information and knowledge from ESI in ways that previously have not been possible. By providing new ways of communicating and cooperating, CSTs facilitate the activity of sourcing knowledge and resources from ESI. Consequently, the SMEs are provided with new knowledge and resources that, in turn, improve and enhance the development of innovations. Thereby we contribute to an understanding of how SMEs can leverage ESI in the 21st century.

Software tools and vocabulary development : A study about software tools and the ways teachers perceive they can be used to facilitate vocabulary development in an EFL classroom / Mjukvaruverktyg och utveckling av ordförråd : En studie om mjukvaruverktyg och sätten lärare upplever att de kan användas för att främjautveckling av ordförråd i ett klassrum med engelska som tredjespråkKarlsson, Izabella, Mehmedovic, Irma January 2021 (has links)
As the world and society evolve into a more digitized era, school systems have to follow. Sweden the national board of education has started to include digital tools into the curriculum and to place demands on the digital competence of Swedish teachers. The consequences that follow are that teachers are expected to implement digital tools of varying kinds into their lessons, which is done with varying success. This thesis aims to examine how software tools such as Kahoot and elevspel are perceived by English teachers in Sweden as tools they can use as they teach learners in grades 4-6. More specifically, this thesis will focus on how English teachers in an EFL setting perceive that they can use these tools to facilitate vocabulary development. In this essay, we have conducted quantitative research by using a questionnaire to gather data from English teachers in Sweden. Along with this, we have also examined previous research in this field to review the scientific background and take this into consideration. The results from this questionnaire showed that English teachers in Swedenincorporate software tools in their lessons and perceive software tools as necessary. However, a majority of the participating teachers noted that more support and ideas are needed for them to incorporate these tools to a fuller extent.

Sustainable process synthesis, design, and analysis: Challenges and opportunitiesMartin, M., Gani, R., Mujtaba, Iqbal 28 March 2022 (has links)
Yes / In this perspective paper, we present challenges and opportunities that the chemical, biochemical and related industries pose to the process system engineering community to help deliver reliable and novel sustainable alternatives. More specifically, we highlight the need for a systems approach where model-based sustainable process synthesis, design, and analysis serve as opportunities to tackle the challenges. Three technology areas (interlinked to each other) that impact the sustainability of earth, namely, chemical processes linked with CO2 capture and utilization, biorefineries and water desalination are selected to highlight our views as well as the need for further development of computer-aided tools to efficiently solve the large and complex mathematical systems the problems represent. Analysis of these problems and their reported solutions indicate that opportunity exists for development of a new class of model-based methods and tools and their integration with the currently available ones to obtain the desired sustainability development goals.

This paper is a follow up of the previous work concerning the Web Engineering Resources Portal (shortly WEP). It consists of a Reference Model and a Resources Portal. The aim of WEP is to provide a tool for web engineering as well as a reference for the development of applications / information systems and a guide for finding and understanding web engineering technologies and tools. Here we deal with that last part and the educational aspect of WEP which we are trying to achieve.
Briefly, the thesis involves three parts:
Firstly, the study of modern possibilities for collecting and importing information regarding the choice of suitable tools and the development of our own methodology. The rapid growth of data volume rendered obvious the problem of finding and extracting of ''useful'' or ''desirable '' information, since there is an abundance of development tools (which are indeed constantly renewed) for every category of web application making the process of choosing the most suitable ones particularly laborious and time-consuming.
Secondly, it refers to the enforcement of the above methodology aiming at the import of resultant tools with the transformation of information in XML for the layout of WEP. We explain the way the import and management of content using XML technology is completed and we come to the adaptation and implementation phase through the Stringbeans framework.
Thirdly we try to highlight the educational character of WEP portal. The concept of e-learning is described and the various alternatives at the age of Web 2.0, where the users participate actively in the writing of educational material are taken into consideration. Furthermore, we analyze the characteristics of PLE (Personal Learning Environments) and LMS (Learning Management Systems) quoting advantages and disadvantages of both.
Finally, we lead to a general evaluation of our effort, mentioning the results and the objectives that were achieved, the conclusions and our proposals for the future.

Fizikos interaktyvių mokomųjų kompiuterinių priemonių 8-ai klasei analizė ir kūrimas / Analysis and development of interactive learning computer-aided software tools designed for physics subject in the 8th classesBlauzdavičius, Vygantas 10 July 2008 (has links)
International researchers demonstrate that modern training aids may improve teaching and learning process. It is appointed in analytic way that interactive learning computer-aided software tools are used more rarely than in other subjects. There are some reasons for that: programess are too complicated, they are not adjusted to curriculum and most of them is in foreign language.
Analysis of internet sites on physics subject indicates that they mostly are accessible easily and have suitable, comprehensible navigation, also they are quite well animated. Considering results of analysis it is decided to create an interactive internet site which is coordinated with common curriculum and with standarts of education and would be devoted for training physics subject in 8 classes. This internet site was named “Rectilineal gradual moving”.
When this training internet site was being designed, preference was given to active and mixed active types as well as to very high, high and medium high level of interaction since active learning computer-aided software tools interaction type directly stimulates actions of students.
When the part of theory of rectilineal gradual moving was analysed, ways of presentation training material were chosen.
The site was designed with programme Front Page 2003. For creation of interaction there are explored two language in script writing: VBScript and Java Script. Considering that these languages have not essential differences interaction of learning site... [to full text]
