Design of a Knowledge Acquisition Tool using A Constructivist Approach for Creating Tailorable Patient Education Materials

Yang, Wenfeng January 2005 (has links)
Research in patient education suggests that tailored educational materials can improve patient's understanding of a treatment plan and help to achieve patient engagement and compliance. The goal of the HealthDoc Project has been the creation of automated Natural Language Generation systems for producing educational materials that are tailored to an individual patient's medical condition and personal situation. The project has so far focused on developing computational linguistic tools needed to author tailorable content from which customized versions could be generated. Also the HealthDoc model of document generation assumes the existence of previously authored textual material. Therefore, a new approach is needed to construct these materials and ensure that the relevant medical knowledge will be captured and delivered to the patient by providing a means to assist the health care professionals in directly authoring the required domain knowledge. <br /><br />We have used constructivist educational theory and knowledge-level modelling to define a new approach incorporating Patient-centric and Behaviour-modifying Educational Model (PBEM) and a knowledge-acquisition framework. Unlike traditional approaches, in which all patients are treated alike in terms of the medical information provided, our new model takes into account characteristics of individual patients. This facilitates the patient's assimilation of relevant information pertaining to her behaviour and health. As the information provided must address the various concerns of different stakeholders, and different patients have different concerns and concern intensities, a knowledge-acquisition framework was developed to provide a structure for patient knowledge acquisition. This framework includes the following components: a Strategic Model, a Concerns Model, and an Interrogation-based knowledge-acquisition Tool. The tool is intended to be used directly by health care professionals and to assist them in formulating, structuring, representing, and articulating their domain knowledge. This research work explores a new field, knowledge-level modelling, for generating patient-tailored educational materials and provides guidelines to implementing such a knowledge-acquisition tool.

Multi-Agent Games of Imperfect Information: Algorithms for Strategy Synthesis

Åkerblom Jonsson, Viktor, Berisha, David January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this project was to improve upon a toolfor strategy synthesis for multi-agent games of imperfect informationagainst nature. Another objective was to compare the toolwith the original tool we improved upon and the Strategic ModelChecker (SMC). For the strategy synthesis, an existing extensionfor expanding the games called the Multi-Agent Knowledge-Based Subset Construction was used. The construction creates anew knowledge-based game where strategies can be tested. Thestrategies were synthesized for the individual agents and thenjoint profiles of the individual strategies were tested to see ifthey were winning.Four different algorithms for going through the game graphswere tested against the other existing tools. The new andimproved tool was faster at synthesizing a strategy than both theold tool and the SMC for almost all games tested. Although forthe games where the new tool is out-performed, results indicateit to be due to a combination of chance and how the games areperceived by the tools. No algorithm or tool proved to be thebest performing for all games. / Kandidatexjobb i elektroteknik 2021, KTH, Stockholm

Iraqi, Hassan 08 1900 (has links)
This research paper deals with the design of an integrative strategic model, and its application on the National School of Public Health (ENSP). It is an integration of the various existing strategic models, including those proposed by Andrews and Porter to capture the opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses of organizations. Such an integrative strategic model did not exist until today, when there was obvious interest in its design. Indeed, companies could refer to more than one model, but this did not allow to concentrate information and thus better support decision-making. In this perspective, the proposed integrative model was applied to analyze the National School of Public Health. The interest in shaping this integrative strategic model was to analyze measure and understand the actual functioning of the organization, its environment, and its competitors in order to propose favorable strategies. Research results were consistently proposed in accordance with the organization's mission, social responsibility and values. Our data collection was based on 4 individual interviews, 14 questionnaires completed with 18 questions and analysis of published documents. The information was presented as a case study to enrich the contributions of authors who informed organizational management and strategic analysis. The purpose of this initiative was to support the school (ENSP) in its efforts to adapt its training program offer to meet the requirements of the Moroccan competitive market. We achieved our objectives by suggesting 5 strategic options: Create a master's degree in public health, create a master's degree in women’s health, develop a program in environmental health, promote technological expertise and increase management autonomy. In conclusion, we have formulated the limits of our conceptual framework. This approach concerned the improvement of our study to ensure that the integrative strategic model is generic and applicable for all organizations in health field.
