The Church of Sweden often states that children have a special position in the church, and this statement is the basis of this essay. This essay evaluates the special position that children is said to have in the church and what role children’s religious and cognitive understanding have in this special position. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the Church of Sweden’s knowledge of children's cognition and how they apply this knowledge in their work with children. To analyze this special position I use material created by the Church of Sweden, such as propositions for the church meeting, episcopal letter, statements and other publications made by the Church of Sweden. This essay looks at how the church is run on a national level, and on the level of the diocesans and the parishes. The data collected on how the Church of Sweden runs its operation regarding their education of children are then analyzed based on theories from the Psychology of Religion. These theories are from Jean Piaget, Ronald Goldman, David Elkind, James W. Fowler and Justin L. Barrett. This essay also examines the ages of children that the different parishes in Umeå uses to select when children should receive their first children’s bible, and how different theories on cognitive development relate to these ages. There is an awareness, within the Church of Sweden, of how theories and methods from the psychology of religion can help with the teaching of Christian faith. To date, there has been a lot of talk and wishes from the Church of Sweden to make the change needed to provide better education to children in regards to their cognitive understanding, but the implementation of this change has so far been moving slowly.

Sammanfattning Uppsatsen har syftat till att utifrån tre sjukhusprästers perspektiv och uppdrag undersöka trostolkning som kommer till utryck när ett dop av svår sjuka barn sker. Hur dop i krissituationer uppstod och hur den tillämpas idag med stöd av Sjukhuskyrkan och i samråd med vårdpersonalen inom Neontala intensivvårdsavdelning. Uppsatsen har även undersökt hur dop i krissituationer kan vara av betydelse för själsligt och existentiell betydelse i förhållande till föräldrarnas behov av existentiell lindring i detta sammanhang. Alla informanter i uppsatsen anser att dop i krissituationer inom andlig vård har betydelse och att de med sitt uppdrag vill bemöta dopföräldrarnas behov av existentiell livstydning när ett barn är döende.    Uppsatsen har en kvalitativ metod med en deduktiv ansats, vilket innebär att man utifrån ett antal professionella erfarenheter eller händelser, det vill säga det empiriska materialet och de valda teorierna, inducerar en sannolik slutsats. De teoretiska perspektiv som uppsatsen bygger på är teorier kring religionspsykologiskt studie: Föräldrars erfarenheter efter spädbarns död, med särskilt hänsyn till ritualers funktion, och den pastorala dopteologin en studie om Griftetal mellan trostolkning och livstydning.   Min kortfattade slutsats är att dop i krissituationer har betydelse såväl för prästen som för dopföräldrarna. Om dopföräldrarna är medlemmar i Svenska kyrkan och önskar ett dop i en krissituation så ingår det i Svenska kyrkan uppdrag att bemöta dopföräldrarnas behov av existentiell livstydning. Med hjälp av dop i krissituationer kan Svenska kyrkan förmedla sin trostolkning samtidigt som en svår situation bekräftas där dopföräldrarna erbjuds förtröstan i hoppet om en uppståndelse för barnet efter döden.

Baptism has long been seen as an uncomplicated and inclusive element in the Church of Sweden. The process studied in this thesis has, however, indicated a change on this point. Three people (one of which has been serving as a minister in the Church of Sweden for fourteen years), baptised as children in The Lords New Church, a church that follows Emanuel Swedenborg’s teachings, was baptised anew in the order of the Church of Sweden in November 2018, after the Church of Sweden had declared their original baptism to be invalid.A statement on the matter was released from the Church of Sweden in which several documents were referred to as supporting the arguments of the Church of Sweden. These documents, along with the statement from the Church of Sweden, are presented and discussed in this thesis.The discussion shows that the documents can be read in more than one way, and that the Church of Sweden seems to have used only parts of them in its reasoning on the matter.

This essay aims to study the Eucharist in three Protestant church traditions, based with a special interest in its openness and consequences. Are there any restrictions who can receive communion? What importance do these traditions attach to the Lord's supper; what consequences does it have? The essay is based on four documents, an ecumenical document from the World Council of Churches, and a document each from the United Methodist Church, the Church of Sweden and the Uniting Church in Sweden. The investigation concludes that the Church of Sweden is not completely consistent in its view of the Eucharist - the Eucharist is a meal for the baptized, but practice can vary. The presence of the Holy Spirit and the connection between the Eucharist and sanctification are less emphasized in the Church of Sweden, while it is stressed in the Uniting Church in Sweden and the UnitedMethodist Church. The author concludes that the communion table should be open to all who seek it. He also longs for a communion revival in his own Church community, which is The Uniting Church in Sweden.

I den här uppsatsen görs en postkolonial, feministteologisk och konstruktivistisk analys av det ursäktstal Svenska kyrkan framför till det samiska folket hösten 2021. Med hjälp av den postkoloniala feministteologen Kwok Pui-lan och den kontextuella teologen Marcella Althaus-Reid närmar sig uppsatsen frågan om det i ursäktstalet finns uttryck för koloniala tendenser eller möjliga befrielser från sådana. Analyses leder till ett utforskande av dynamiken mellan föreställningar om kön, sexualitet, den Andre och naturem, där dessa visar sig vara tätt sammanvävda i en dualistisk ontologi konkretiserad i heterosexuella antaganden. För att bli fri från koloniala tendenser krävs de gamla heterosexuella antagandenas undergång. Bara i den ömsesidiga enhetens harmoni skapas nytt liv.

Inom ramen för empirisk ecklesiologi är det den här studiens syfte att är undersöka vilken ecklesiologi som kommer till uttryck genom diakonin i Huddinge församling, genom att använda ”Teologins fyra röster” som arbetsmodell och tolkningsverktyg. Hur kyrkan framträder för människor undersöks genom att studera vad den gör och ställs i relation till kyrkan som social kropp. Genom en ecklesiologisk fältstudie där Teologins fyra röster får styra vilket material som samlas in avtäcks och analyseras den ecklesiologi som kyrkan bär på. Studiens slutsats är att den ecklesiologi som framträder genom Huddinge församlings diakoni är starkt relationellt betonad. Resultaten pekar också mot att människors kristna självförståelse inte formas som ett resultat av en kognitiv process utan genom att kristen tro praktiseras och förkroppsligas genom handling.
