Real Time Speech Driven Face Animation / Talstyrd Ansiktsanimering i Realtid

Axelsson, Andreas, Björhäll, Erik January 2003 (has links)

The goal of this project is to implement a system to analyse an audio signal containing speech, and produce a classifcation of lip shape categories (visemes) in order to synchronize the lips of a computer generated face with the speech.

The thesis describes the work to derive a method that maps speech to lip move- ments, on an animated face model, in real time. The method is implemented in C++ on the PC/Windows platform. The program reads speech from pre-recorded audio files and continuously performs spectral analysis of the speech. Neural networks are used to classify the speech into a sequence of phonemes, and the corresponding visemes are shown on the screen.

Some time delay between input speech and the visualization could not be avoided, but the overall visual impression is that sound and animation are synchronized.

Fast Face Finding / Snabb ansiktsdetektering

Westerlund, Tomas January 2004 (has links)

Face detection is a classical application of object detection. There are many practical applications in which face detection is the first step; face recognition, video surveillance, image database management, video coding.

This report presents the results of an implementation of the AdaBoost algorithm to train a Strong Classifier to be used for face detection. The AdaBoost algorithm is fast and shows a low false detection rate, two characteristics which are important for face detection algorithms.

The application is an implementation of the AdaBoost algorithm with several command-line executables that support testing of the algorithm. The training and detection algorithms are separated from the rest of the application by a well defined interface to allow reuse as a software library.

The source code is documented using the JavaDoc-standard, and CppDoc is then used to produce detailed information on classes and relationships in html format.

The implemented algorithm is found to produce relatively high detection rate and low false alarm rate, considering the badly suited training data used.

Airbag tracking with enhanced feature detection and an active contour / Airbagföljning med förbättrad egenskapsdetektering och en aktiv kontur

Larsson, Pär January 2003 (has links)

This thesis develops an algorithm for tracking the boundary of an airbag throughout an image sequence. The algorithm is designed to work even if various problematic features, e.g. objects in the background, are present in the image. The work is built on an existing commercially available image processing and analysis suite targeted at the automotive industry. The software suite runs on standard PC hardware.

Firstly, improvements to the airbag tracking algorithm already available in the suite are considered. Testing reveals that these measures are not sufficient to overcome the problems posed by the problematic image sequences.

A new tracking algorithmis then proposed. It consists of a Canny edge detector, optional steps to enhance feature detection by removing edges in the background and edges interior to the boundary of the airbag and finally an active contour. The role of the active contour is to produce a closed curve while imposing smoothness constraints on the detected boundary. The active contour is in each frame initialized by linearly extrapolating the contour from previous frames.

The algorithm works very well and it is fast enough to run on slower machines than was initially targeted.

A comparative study of two structural methods for fault isolation analysis / En jämförande studie av två strukturella metoder för felisoleringsanalys

Rattfält, Linda January 2004 (has links)

Technical systems of today are often complex and integrated. If a fault occurs, the consequences can be disastrous both for the system itself and its surroundings. To maintain the operation and the security it is necessary to have a surveillance system which can detect a fault in an early stage.

In this thesis two structural methods for fault isolation analysis are discussed. The result from the studied algorithms shows what fault isolation properties a diagnostic model is expected to have. If the isolability is not good enough, it also gives information on where further modelling needs to be done.

To base a comparison of the two structural analysis algorithms on, four criteria are defined concerning for example realizability of residuals and time complexity. One interesting part of the methods is how dynamic models are handled. It is shown how differential constraints can end up in differential cycles which implies calculatory problems and what effects structural differentiation has on a system.

The algorithms have been tested on an application from the research training network DAMADICS. The result shows how different types of input models in this case give the same result.

Hårdvaruimplementerad Webtuner / Hardware implemented web tuner

Nilsson, Hjalmar January 2003 (has links)

/
The large increase of broadband connections in the world has lead to a rapid spread in the use of web radio. Millions of users listens every day to the many thousands available stations on the Internet. Web radio is a way to broadcast radio over the Internet. The most popular format to code the media is by use of MP3, but newer and better methods are on there way. Today you have to use a personal computer to listen to Web radio. This is both time consuming and a potential source of technical frustration. You have to install several programs and then search the Internet to find a station to listen to. Despite the hassle Web radio offers such a variety of music genres to give it a solid future. The objective of this thesis is to give an overview of the work I have done and the problems I have run into, implementing an MP3-based Web radio receiver in a small inexpensive electric circuit, completely independent of a personal computer. This report gives an overview of the different problems I have been faced to during my work. Due to the lack of stable development environment at the time of the programming, I was unable to implement my solution on one circuit and had to use two circuits.

Implementation of a Watermarking Algorithm for H.264 Video Sequences / Implementation av en vattenmärkningsalgoritm för H.264-videosekvenser

Bergkvist, David January 2004 (has links)

In today's video delivery and broadcast networks, issues of copyright protection have become more urgent than in analog times, since the copying of digital video does not result in the decrease in quality that occurs when analog video is copied.

One method of copyright protection is to embed a digital code, a"watermark", into the video sequence. The watermark can then unambiguously identify the copyright holder of the video sequence. Watermarks can also be used to identify the purchaser of a video sequence, which is called "fingerprinting".

The objective of this master thesis was to implement a program that would insert watermarks into video sequences and also detect if a given video sequence contains a givenwatermark.

The video standard I chose to use was the H.264 standard (also known as MPEG4 AVC) as it offers a significant efficiency improvement over the previous video compression standards.

A couple of tests that can be considered representative for most image manipulations and attacks were performed. The program passed all tests, suggesting that the watermarking mechanism of this thesis can be expected to be rather robust, at least for the video sequence used. By looking at the watermarked video sequences and comparing them to the originals, or measuring the signal to noise ratio, one can also see that the watermarks are unobtrusive. The execution times were also measured. Compared to coding and decoding a H.264 video stream, the time it takes to insert and extract watermarks was much less. Calculating a threshold takes roughly double the time as decoding the sequence, though.

Arbetsstudie av trucktillverkning vid SB Truck AB / Study of Forklift Manufacturing at SB Truck AB

Jacobs, Mikael, Jakobsson, Peter January 2004 (has links)

/
This thesis has been carried out at SB Truck AB in Vreta Kloster. The emphasis of the project was to capture the manufacturing of a forklift on tape, to be able to analyse the manufactoring methods and calculate the total time of manufactoring. The project contains suggestions for improvements of the manufactoring methods. The suggestions mainly deals with the vital parts in the production process of the forklift. The most important suggestions are:

- Determine which of the weldingjoints that really needs to be grinded.

- Make sure that the purchased girders reaches the required tolerance level of straightness.

An implementation of a rational, reactive agent

Engberg, Mattias January 2003 (has links)

We are working on the development and design of an approach to agents that can reason, react to the environment and are able to update their own knowledge as a result of new incoming information. In the resulting framework, rational, reactive agents can dynamically change their own knowledge bases as well as their own goals. An agent can make observations, learn new facts and new rules from the environment, and then update its knowledge accordingly. The knowledge base of an agent and its updating mechanism has been implemented in Logic Programming. The agent’s framework is implemented in Java.

This aim of this thesis is to design and implement an architecture of a reactive, rational agent in both Java and Prolog and to test the interaction between the rational part and the reactive part of the agent. The agent architecture is called RR-agent and consists of six more or less components, four implemented in Java and the other two are implemented in XSB Prolog.

The result of this thesis is the ground for the paper “An architecture of a rational, reactive agent” by P. DellAcqua, M. Engberg, L.M. Pereira that has been submitted.

Förstudie av utbildningshjälpmedel och beslutsstöd för Rules of Engagement inom svenska Marinen / Prestudy of Computer-Based Training and Decision Support facilitating the use of Rules of Engagement in the Swedish Navy

Follin, Per, Persson, Peter January 2004 (has links)

Utvecklingsarbetet bedrevs parallellt med kartläggningen och involverade stabs- och fartygspersonal. Efter ett antal utvärderingar med användare kunde tre koncept för stöd och hjälpmedel ges. För att öka förståelsen och visualisera koncepten har tre demonstratorer skapats. Koncepten har fått arbetsnamnen;
