Ngaliema, Pierre January 2013 (has links)
The aim of our study is to expose the obstacles that impede oral expression in the French as a foreign language classroom in the context of the courses taught at the University of Cape Town (UCT). To achieve this aim, we questioned the first year students of French who constituted the main thrust of our research. After carrying out some investigations, we realised that there are four main obstacles hindering oral expression at UCT: pedagogical obstacles, linguistic, psychological and sociocultural ones. From these results, we tried to make suggestions and to formulate recommendations. In the formulation of these recommendations, we have tried to adhere as closely as possible to the students’s suggestions.

Cultura e representações na didática do francês língua estrangeira / Culture and representations in the teaching of French as a foreign language

Hirata, Tânia Regina Gomes Soares 02 August 2006 (has links)
The opening process to other cultural universes generated through more closeness between societies as created needs for a new thinking approach on culture and representation. These concepts are now put in the field of Foreign Language Didactic at a very important place because the understanding of languages is an essential element in the relationship between various cultural communities and therefore help the understanding of the diverse forms to see and living the world. The teaching-learning of a foreign language must also stimulate the reflection on the diversity of cultural facts therefore stimulating the awareness of the learning person that excessive folklorisation could damage badly the reality of theses cultures. Through the analysis of the French Press elements about Brazil, we have been looking for an objective approach on how to demonstrate possible diversities, after having acknowledged the manner we have been seen through the selected articles. That has been very interesting because, as Brazilian, we have been in front of how the Other sees our society and therefore how we should conduct our representation analysis of the Other. The final aim is to support, through a better objectivity of the given facts, a thinking process on cultural diversity, on the importance of relativism and on the danger of excessive generalisation

Between business language and language of culture. Senses that permeate the relation of the Brazilian learner with English language and Spanish language

Sousa, Greice de Nobrega e 21 August 2007 (has links)
Based on the theoretical framework of the French perspective to Discourse Analysis, we analyzed, in this research, the relation of the Brazilian learner with two foreign languages: the English Language (EL) and the Spanish Language (SL). In order to do this, we investigated the images detected on the learners\' comments about those foreign languages, which were the result of questionnaire applied to many groups. The image that marks the relation EL/learner is that EL is a business language; in the case of the SL, the image of the 2nd business language comes first, and the image of language of culture comes after, becoming stronger through the learning process. In what language proficency is concerned, we interpreted these images in its relation with some appealing situations (\"interpellations\") which the contemporary subjec is exposed to and in relation to the functioning of some preconstructed meanings he is captured by. We also studied the constitution of the SL and its expansion process as international language, and how it functions in the Brazilian school, where it has been the foreign language of this Institution since 1961. The learning process of the SL, which we interpreted as the identification/subjection shows, at least in the subject\'s imaginary, a deslocation in the relation SL/learning which does not happen in the one he establishes with the EL. Therefore, we believe to be detecting differences in the relations between the learners and the two foreign languages, in the learning process, which is concerned with this learner as a subject between (the) languages in an important moment in the history of the SL as foreign language in Brazil

L'utilisation des TIC dans l'apprentisage du FLE au Soudan : étude de cas à l'université de Nyala au Darfour / Utilisation of ICT in learning french as foreign language in Sudan : case study at university of Nyala in Darfur

Mohammed Abdallah Ishag, Babiker 18 January 2017 (has links)
This research aim lays on the impact of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) during French teaching class in Sudan. This case study focused on the students from Nyala University (South Darfur State). The hypothesis was about the ICT impact on the learning as a vector for the French language mastering and the initiation towards its cultural aspects by the modification of the knowledge relationship. The crossed methodology used 1) a qualitative inquiry interview on teachers about their ICT uses; 2) a survey questionnaire (N=220; all the student population enrolled at Nyala university in the language curriculum); 3) a comparative study on classroom pracTICs with(out) the ITC use (2/ 12 sequences duration; semester 5 level; 90 students). Results showed that the ITC use impacts the interaction dynamics and modifies the rapport to knowledge, opening perspective s for democrati zing and the area as well as renewing the professional and student pracTICs towards crosscultural perspectives.

El deseo de comunicarse en los pasos 3, 4 y 5 en español en Suecia : Su relación con tres factores afectivos individuales / Willingness to communicate in steps 3, 4 and 5 in Spanish in Sweden : Its relationship with three individual affective factors

Jonasson, Ellen January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this work has been to investigate how the willingness to communicate correlates with three affective factors: motivation, linguistic anxiety, and the attitude towards the target language. To investigate what was mentioned in the purpose, the following questions have been posed: How is motivation correlated with the willingness to communicate in Spanish as a foreign language? In what way is linguistic anxiety correlated with the willingness to communicate in Spanish as a foreign language? And finally, how is the attitude towards Spanish correlated with the willingness to communicate in it as a foreign language?  Our hypothesis to the first question was: we believe that high motivation is positively correlated with a high willingness to communicate. A low willingness to communicate will be correlated with low motivation. The second hypothesis was: we believe that a high linguistic anxiety correlates with a low willingness to communicate. A low linguistic anxiety correlates with a high willingness to communicate. The third and last hypothesis was: we believe that a positive attitude towards Spanish correlates with a high willingness to communicate. A negative attitude will correlate with a low willingness to communicate. We have chosen to use a quantitative method through a survey that evaluates the perceptions of 65 students studying Spanish as a foreign language in the steps 3, 4 and 5 that correspond to the stages A2 and B1 according to the CEFR. The questionnaire contains, in total, 22 statements about attitudes towards Spanish, motivation, desire to communicate and language anxiety. Using the responses to the statements in the survey, we performed statistical tests according to the Chi-Square to determine possible correlations. Our results showed that there is a positive and strong correlation between motivation and the willingness to communicate, that there is no notable correlation between language anxiety and the willingness to communicate, and finally that there is a positive strong/medium correlation between attitude towards the language and the willingness to communicate.
