Documentation numérique en Afrique francophone subsaharienne : évaluation de l'offre et des usages en sciences humaines à l'Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar / Digital documentation in Africa : evaluation of the offer and uses in the human sciences of the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar

Kane, Khardiatou 25 September 2018 (has links)
University libraries in French-speaking African countries face a documentary supply challenge in a context of a lack of financial resources, an increase in the cost of documentation, and some inefficient organizational forms. This thesis aims at first, from surveys and collections of diverse data, to establish the state of the paper and digital documentary offer at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, in SHS, highlighting points comparison with other Sub-Saharan Francophone Universities. The results are intended to quantify and qualify this offer, to point out new dynamics in the context of digital documentation with different types of actors. In addition, librarians seek to rely fully on Open Access, both in terms of access to resources and the value of local funds. Digital information is increasingly seen as the best way to meet the information needs of the university community at Dakar's Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD). Nevertheless, it is often confronted with problems of access to information but also of use of documentary resources. This research focuses, in a second part, to appreciate the uses of digital resources, in a comparative way between several disciplines at UCAD and between teachers and students. Recommendations are made to try to improve the documentary services in this University.

Examining the performance of AR technologies to provide instructions for operators : a study at Siemens

Zellaya, Ibrahim, Brushwood, William January 2020 (has links)
Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB is interested in digitizing their current work processes. Therefore, the reason for this study is to examine if AR performs better than paper as an instruction method for operators at Siemens in Trollhättan. In order to answer the question "How well does Augmented Reality (AR) technology perform compared to physical papers as an instruction method for operators in a production environment?", two qualitative methods have been applied. Data was collected by using observations and semi-structured interviews for the analysis of this study. Our choice of theoretical framework was not only applied for evaluating the performance, but also the operators' willingness to adopt AR as a form of instruction method. The findings from the results show that AR performs better as an instruction method and that the operators had a positive attitude when using AR. However, it is still unclear how well this technology will be accepted. This is mainly due to the fact that future improvements still need to be made to the hardware and the lack of customized applications for the operators' needs.

Anténní systém pro bezdrátové mikrofony / Antenna system for wireless microphones

Bartoš, Adam January 2018 (has links)
Master's thesis deals with the design of an antenna system for wireless sound transmission used mainly in professional sound reinforcement. The introductory part deals generally with wireless microphones, frequency bands used and proven antenna types. Next, this work deals with signal distribution that is realized using the antenna splitter. The antenna parts is focused on easy production and real usage, therefore were selected antennas with appropriate properties suitable for small series production. This thesis includes simulation of each device, their real construction design and measurements of built prototypes and final products. All three produced devices – the rack splitter, /4 antenna and Helix antenna are fully working, achieve good parameters and are ready for further manufacturing and easy modifications in case of frequency band change requirement. The conclusion includes an overall assessment of the results achieved.

Intercultural Communication In The Global Age: Lessons Learned From French Technical Communicators

Tallman, Nicole 01 January 2013 (has links)
This thesis explores the cultural considerations American technical communicators must address when working with French colleagues and when creating technical documentation for French audiences. A review of the literature on intercultural communication theory was conducted, along with a review of the limited research on technical communication in France and the needs of French audiences. A qualitative online survey of French technical communicators was also conducted. Through this survey, French technical communicators reported on their intercultural beliefs, experiences, and practices, and information, language, and cultural needs. Survey responses were analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Two main themes were developed as a result of this analysis: the importance of adapting content to French audiences, and the cultural differences between French and American information needs and communication styles. Survey findings are combined with theoretical and practical literature to offer American technical communicators guidance for successful intercultural interactions. This thesis concludes with suggestions for future practice and research in intercultural technical communication.

Zastřešení objektu pro společenské účely / Roof structure of construction for social purposes

Bašista, Ján January 2013 (has links)
The work treats the static recalculation of an existing roof structure of a construction for social purposes and proposes two variants of the design of a new roof structure. The construction has a rectangular ground plan of 30 m x 47 m and the roof structure is placed on the load bearing circumference concrete walls. Except for the load constituted by the function of the construction and by the climatic area, an extra load of 2 tons suspended at any place of the structure is considered because of the special requirement of working and technological equipment. The variant no. 1 is designed from the steel S355. The variant no. 2 is designed as a combination of the wood GL24h and the aluminium EN-AW 5083. Both of the variants have 11 transverse load bearing girders. The purlins are perpendicular to the girders and are placed on them. Stiffness is secured by roof stiffeners.
