Cryptocurrency as a Payment Method in the Retail Industry : An application of Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI) on the characteristics of Bitcoin: the case of BitrefillMukabi, Collins, Vu, Nguyen Long January 2019 (has links)
Background: The convergence of payment behaviours can contribute to the diffusion of new payment technologies and thus economic performance. There is evidence that the electrification of the retail payment system promotes the performance of the banking sector and economic growth. The retail payment market is a prime example of a two-sided market where new payment instruments need to reach a critical mass of users to become viable and grow further (Martikainen, Schmiedel & Takalo, 2015). Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyse Bitcoin, as a payment method, and review the models already used to shed more light on its further potential adoption by retailers. We apply the DOI theory and review the TAM model to determine the underlying characteristics of Bitcoin that will enable further adoption or rejection among retailers. Method: We conduct a case study on Bitrefill AB which offers a rich method for investigating and researching. With the process of interpretation in context, we make inference from the case of Bitrefill in connecting with events and experiences of other retailers (Expedia, Alibaba, Overstock and CheapAir). Conclusion: According to the results, the adoption of Bitcoin relies heavily on positive relative advantages to other payment methods, compatibility and simplicity of its use while negative characteristics that pull it back from being adopted include the complexities in understanding the technology behind it, damaging outcomes varying from the expected.

Automated vehicles on airports : A case study of process challenges and opportunities in developing employee acceptanceSäther, Jodie Katja January 2021 (has links)
This study aims to explore the development of employee acceptance and process challenges and opportunities that surface when new technologies are introduced in a workplace environment. In the case of the implementation of automated vehicles, this study was conducted in close relationship with the organisation. In particular, we investigate employee acceptance and process challenges with an assistance of an analytic model, TAPA, built on the theoretical framework of trust, practice theory and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which is supported with trust and practice theory to form a comprehensive framework. The study stands on the philosophy of engaged scholarship and uses qualitative material from an exploratory case study, interviewing 22 respondents in order to cover an extensive part of the processes and practices affected by this implementation. Interestingly, the empirical data suggests that developing employee acceptance and combating process challenges and harnessing opportunities are not separate subjects, but streams in the same river. Therefore, to develop acceptance, the organisation would also need to work through the process challenges the respondents warrants action.

Augmented Reality Contact Lenses: An Investigation of Technology Acceptance Drivers from a Potential User PerspectiveGmeinwieser, Korbinian, Schock, Nikolas January 2020 (has links)
Background: Augmented Reality (AR) could be the next revolutionary technology after the personal computer, the internet and the mobile era. While AR Smart Glasses are already on the market, AR Contact Lenses (ARCL) are still in the stage of research and development, but likely to replace the smartphone in the near future. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is the identification of key factors influencing the acceptance of ARCL from a potential user perspective to gather early-stage pre-market knowledge and extend the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) literature to this novel wearable technology. Method: An explanatory online survey was conducted to test the hypotheses in an extended TAM. Data from 250 respondents up to an age of 34 years, representing the potential target group was collected. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to assess the measurement model in terms of validity and reliability and the structural model in terms of hypotheses testing and strength of relationships between proposed variables. In addition, a multigroup analysis was examined to identify significant differences among groups. Conclusion: The results show that the attitude, which is strongly influenced by perceived usefulness, is the major key determinant affecting potential users’ behavioral intention to adopt ARCL in the future, followed by subjective norms. Furthermore, a strong influence of personal innovativeness on both antecedents of attitude, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use was identified. Moreover, moderating effects of educational background, knowledge of ARCL and usage of contact lenses were discovered.

Digitala möten : En kvalitativ studie om hur anställda upplever möten i videokonferenstjänsterDoversten, Sofia, Ridderbjelke, Caroline January 2020 (has links)

Explaining consumer perspectives on mobile news services: a study in South AfricaMaurya, Rubina 13 May 2019 (has links)
Access to news supports the development of democratic societies. News can promote sustainable community development and encourage healthy social, political, and economic engagement. Mobile news services (MNSs) are one means to reach out to citizens to share news and provide citizens with a forum to review and voice their opinion. However, the extant of research related to technology adoption of MNSs is limited. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a framework which articulates factors influencing the adoption of MNSs particularly by the citizens of South Africa. A review of the literature on MNSs and technology adoption helped to identify potential factors that could influence adoption. This study considers existing theoretical evidence and provides new empirical evidence, to extend current theoretical understanding. Mixed methods research supported the identification of influencing factors and relationships which support the adoption of MNSs. The resultant MNS adoption model offers new insights into the personal and social factors, attributes of adopters and attributes of MNSs influencing adoption of MNSs. The model included influencing factors such as social concerns, psychological drivers, motivators, trust sensitivities for accessing information, relative advantage and value, observability, usability, portability, immediacy, compatibility, and facilitating conditions. The identified relationships between the individual factors introduced a new perspective to the prior models of technology adoption, by highlighting connections between the social environment, the adopter, and MNSs. A pragmatic approach and statistical analysis of the data validated the relationships, and the model. The decision to adopt was found to be directly affected by sixteen interlinked factors. The findings are important to mobile service providers, designers, and developers, in their endeavour to satisfy their consumer’s needs and desires.

Streaming Services and Media ConsumptionHosseini, Seyedsiavash, Karmestål, Victor January 2021 (has links)
With the rapid pace of technological development, the way we consume media has changed drastically. Not too long ago, the very idea of never watching TV in the sense of broadcasted TV channels was absurd. Nowadays more and more people spend most if not all their media consumption time on streaming services like Netflix and Viaplay. We conducted a study on the reasons behind this change in media consumption, to find out why more and more people choose to spend their days watching Netflix instead of TV6 like they used to. We chose to perform our study through the lens of two different consumer behavior models: The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Uses and Gratification Model (UGT). With the concepts of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use from TAM, and information seeking, affinity and accessibility from UGT. A quantitative study was conducted with 72 respondents. Our choice of method was a questionnaire which we designed to gather data on the respondents’ thoughts towards streaming services and towards the different behavior models. The survey, which was web-based, was distributed on different Facebook groups to reach potential respondents. The data gathered was then analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha and linear regression. From the results, we could gather that perceived usefulness was the most important factor of TAM, and the largest explanation behind a consumer’s usage of streaming services. Information seeking, affinity and accessibility were the largest contributing factors in the UGT model, although our results showed that UGT was not as significant as TAM in usage of streaming services. We were able to conclude that streaming services are an innovation that offers usefulness to the respondents that broadcast TV cannot compete with. We also found that TV broadcasts have a potential niche audience which they can reach with the right priorities. There were some aspects of information seeking which our respondents felt streaming services lacked, meaning if broadcast TV capitalizes on this type of informative content that streaming services lack, they can hopefully maintain a significant enough audience.
