Como os compostos fen?licos s?o t?xicos aos seres vivos, o teor m?ximo de 0,5 ppm ? considerado como concentra??o limite para lan?amentos em corpos de ?gua doce pela Resolu??o Federal CONAMA n?. 430 de 2011. No processo de tratamento desses efluentes, a extra??o l?quido-l?quido ? o processo mais econ?mico para a recupera??o do fenol, pois consome pouca energia, mas, na maioria das vezes, utiliza um solvente org?nico que pode acarretar s?rios problemas ambientais. Alguns estudos comprovam a viabilidade da utiliza??o de tensoativos n?o i?nicos em substitui??o aos solventes org?nicos. O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi estudar o processo de extra??o de fenol de efluentes aquosos utilizando como agente extrator os tensoativos n?o i?nicos nonilfenol etoxilados com grau de etoxila??o: 8; 9,5; 10; 11 e 12. Avaliou-se algumas propriedades do processo, como o ponto de nuvem (PN), concentra??o miclar criticar (c.m.c.) dos tensoativos, termodin?mica de miceliza??o, efeito da concentra??o de sal (Xsal), concentra??o de tensoativo (Xt), concentra??o de fenol (Xf) e grau de etoxila??o da mol?cula de tensoativo (EO), bem como os par?metros do processo de extra??o: efici?ncia de extra??o, raz?o volum?trica das fases, fator de concentra??o e coeficiente de parti??o. Os resultados mostraram que o PN dos tensoativos ? diretamente influenciado pela quantidade de fenol e sais presentes no efluente. A t?cnica de planejamento experimental mostrou-se eficiente no desenvolvimento de modelos matem?ticos capazes de prever o PN dos tensoativos e na otimiza??o das vari?veis visando um baixo custo energ?tico (diminui??o do PN). As condi??es para se obter os menores valores de PN ? Xsal = 0,2%, Xt = 0,5% e EO = 10. Os ensaios para determina??o da c.m.c. e an?lise termodin?mica de miceliza??o permitiram verificar que o aumento da temperatura tende a diminuir a c.m.c. dos tensoativos, o processo de miceliza??o ? espont?neo e exot?rmico para todos os tensoativos e temperaturas estudados. A efici?ncia de remo??o de fenol dos sistemas foi satisfat?ria e, em alguns casos, superior a 95%, apesar do elevado percentual do volume da fase coacervato. A modelagem e an?lise estat?stica dos dados experimentais geraram modelos capazes de descrever o processo, estimando a efici?ncia de remo??o e os par?metros em fun??o da composi??o do sistema. Portanto, a utiliza??o de tensoativos n?o i?nicos nonilfenol etoxilados propostos representam uma alternativa concreta na remo??o de fenol de efluentes aquosos, com menor risco ambiental que os sistemas convencionais utilizados na ind?stria. / Environmental sustainability has been the subject of interest and concern in the industry, mainly due to the generation of waste. As the phenolic compounds are toxic to aquatic organisms, the maximum level of 0.5 ppm is considered as concentration limit for releases in freshwater bodies by the Federal CONAMA Resolution no. 430 2011. In the process of treatment of these effluents, liquid-liquid extraction is the most economical process for the recovery of phenol, because it consumes little energy, but most often implements an organic solvent that can cause serious environmental problems. Some studies demonstrate the feasibility of using non-ionic surfactants to replace organic solvents. The main objective of this work was to study the process of wastewater phenol extraction using as extracting agent non-ionic surfactants nonylphenol ethoxylat. It was evaluated several properties such as the cloud point remove and, critical micelle concentration (c.m.c.) of surfactants micellization thermodynamic, effect of salt concentration (Xsal), surfactant concentration (Xt), phenol concentration (Xf) and ethoxylation degree of surfactant (EO) as well as the parameters of the extraction process. The results shows that the cloud point (PN) of the surfactants is directly affected by the amount of phenol and salts present in the effluent. The experimental design technique was efficient in the development of mathematical models capable of predicting the PN of surfactants and optimization of variables aimed a low energy cost (reduction of PN). The conditions to obtain the lowest value PN is Xsal = 0.2%, Xt = 0.5 and EO = 10. Assays for determining the c.m.c. and micellization thermodynamic analysis allowed to verify that the increase in temperature tends to decrease c.m.c. of surfactants, the micellization is a spontaneous and exothermic process for all temperatures studied and surfactants. The phenol removal efficiency of the systems was satisfactory and in some cases greater than 95%, despite the high percentage of the volume of coacervate phase. The modeling and statistical analysis of experimental data generated models capable of describing and predicting the removal efficiency and the process parameters depending on the composition of the system. Therefore, the remover use of non-ionic surfactants nonylphenol ethoxylate represent a practical alternative for phenol removal from wastewater, resulting in less environmental risks than conventional systems used in industry.

It is a mixture of alkanes from the simplest to more complex aromatic compounds that are present derivatives such as gasoline, diesel, alcohol, kerosene, naphtha, etc.. These derivatives are extracted from any oil, however, only with a very high quality, in other words, when the content of hydrocarbons of low molecular weight is high means that production of these compounds is feasible. The American Petroleum Institute (API) developed a classification system for the various types of oil. In Brazil, the quality of most of the oil taken from wells is very low, so it is necessary to generate new technology to develop best practices for refining in order to produce petroleum products of higher commercial value. Therefore, it is necessary to study the thermodynamic equilibrium properties of its derivative compounds of interest. This dissertation aims to determine vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the systems Phenilcyclohexane - CO2, and Cyclohexane - Phenilcyclohexane - CO2 at high pressure and temperatures between 30 to 70oC. Furthermore, comparisons between measured VLE experimental data from this work and from the literature in relation to the Peng- Robinson molecular thermodynamic model, using a simulation program SPECS IVCSEP v5.60 and two adjustable interaction parameters, have been performed for modeling and simulation purposes. The learning strategy was built up by a sequence of activities that involve History of Science and experiments, put in a course that had as a base the proposal of the Group of Redevelopment of Physics Teaching (GREF). We have used as the conductor wire of our research the development of thermo dynamics since the development of the first thermo machines, passing by the Industrial Revolution and the evolution of concepts of warmth and temperature. The learning strategy was applied to a group of second grade of secondary school in a public school in Mossor? (RN). By doing these activities we tried to become the concepts, which are part of thermo dynamics, more meaningful to the students. In the first we propose a cosmological model with a time varying speed of light c. We consider two diferent time dependence of c for a at Friedmann-Robertson- Walker (FRW) universe. We write the energy conservation law arising from Einstein equations and study how particles are created as c decreases with cosmic epoch. The variation of c is coupled to a cosmological Λ term and both singular and non-singular solutions are possible. We calculate the "adiabatic" particle creation rate and the total number of particles as a function of time and find the constrains imposed by the second law of thermodynamics upon the models. In the second scenario, we study the nonlinearity of the electrodynamics as a source of matter creation in the cosmological models with at FRW geometry. We write the energy conservation law arising from Einstein field equations with cosmological term Λ, solve the field equations and study how particles are created as the magnetic field B changes with cosmic epoch. We obtain solutions for the adiabatic particle creation rate, the total number of particles and the scale factor as a function of time in three cases: Λ = 0, Λ = constant and Λ α H2 (cosmological term proportional to the Hubble parameter). In all cases, the second law of thermodynamics demands that the universe is not contracting (H ≥ 0). The first two solutions are non-singular and exhibit in ationary periods. At this temperature the first wax crystals are formed by the cooling systems paraffin / solvents. Paraffins are composed of a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons of high molecular weight. The removal of petroleum from wells and the production lines means a surcharge on produced oil, thus solubilize these deposits formed due to modifications of thermodynamics has been a constant challenge for companies of oil exploration. This study combines the paraffin solubilization by microemulsion systems, the determination of WAT systems paraffin / solvent and performance of surfactant in reducing the crystallization. We used the methods: rheological and the photoelectric signal, validating the latter which was developed to optimize the data obtained due to sensitivity of the equipment used. Methods developed for description of wax precipitation are often in poor agreement with the experimental data, they tend to underestimate the amount of wax at temperatures below the turbidity point. The Won method and the Ideal solution method were applied to the WAT data obtained in solvent systems, best represented by the second interaction of Won method using the solvents naphtha, hexane and LCO. It was observed that the results obtained by WAT photoelectric signal when compared with the viscosity occur in advance, demonstrating the greatest sensitivity of the method developed. The ionic surfactant reduced the viscosity of the solvent systems as it acted modifying the crystalline structure and, consequently, the pour point. The curves show that the WAT experimental data is, in general, closer to the modeling performed by the method of Won than to the one performed by the ideal solution method, because this method underestimates the curve predicting the onset of paraffin hydrocarbons crystallization temperature. This occurs because the actual temperature measured was the crystallization temperature and the method proposes the fusion temperature measurement. / A TIAC ? a temperatura de in?cio do aparecimento dos cristais de parafina. Nesta temperatura os primeiros cristais de parafina s?o formados, pelo resfriamento de sistemas parafina/solventes. As parafinas s?o compostas de uma mistura de hidrocarbonetos saturados de alto peso molecular. A remo??o de parafinas dos po?os e das linhas de produ??o significa um custo adicional ao petr?leo produzido, portanto solubilizar estes dep?sitos formados decorrentes das modifica??es termodin?micas tem sido um desafio constante das empresas exploradoras de petr?leo. Este estudo alia a solubiliza??o paraf?nica por sistemas microemulsionados, ? determina??o da TIAC dos sistemas parafina/solvente e a atua??o do tensoativo na redu??o da cristaliza??o. Utilizaram-se os m?todos: reol?gico e o do sinal fotoel?trico, validando este ?ltimo o qual foi desenvolvido visando aperfei?oar os dados obtidos devido a sensibilidade do equipamento utilizado. M?todos desenvolvidos para descri??o da precipita??o da cera est?o freq?entemente em pobre concord?ncia com os dados experimentais; eles tendem a subestimar a quantidade de cera ?s temperaturas abaixo do ponto de turbidez. Foram aplicados os m?todos de Won e o da solu??o ideal aos dados de TIAC da parafina obtidos em sistemas com solventes, sendo melhor representado pela segunda intera??o do m?todo de Won com os solventes: nafta, hexano e LCO. Foi observado que os resultados de TIAC obtidos pelo sinal fotoel?trico quando comparados com a viscosidade, ocorrem antecipadamente, demonstrando a maior sensibilidade do m?todo desenvolvido. O tensoativo i?nico reduziu a viscosidade dos sistemas paraf?nicos, pois ele atuou modificando a estrutura cristalina, conseq?entemente o ponto de fluidez. As curvas que representam os dados experimentais da TIAC est?o, de maneira geral, mais pr?ximas da modelagem realizada pelo m?todo de Won do que da solu??o ideal, pois este m?todo subestima a curva de predi??o do in?cio da temperatura de cristaliza??o da parafina com os hidrocarbonetos. Nestes po?os, os erros m?ximos observados foram de 28,55% (Po?o 1) e 15,72% (Po?o 2). Entretanto, desvios significativos entre as vaz?es calculadas e medidas foram encontrados nos Po?os 3 e 4. Nestes po?os, os erros m?ximos observados foram de 536,84% (Po?o 3) e 335,54% (Po?o 4). Utilizando a expans?o em S?rie de Taylor da equa??o exponencial de Ramey, foi obtida uma fun??o expl?cita, linear, entre a vaz?o ao longo do po?o e a temperatura do fluido, sendo realizada uma an?lise quantitativa da incerteza de medi??o. Foi ent?o apresentado um m?todo de c?lculo estoc?stico das vaz?es a partir das distribui??es de probabilidade das temperaturas medidas, atrav?s da Simula??o de Monte Carlo. As novas vaz?es calculadas apresentaram erros m?ximos de 3,67% (Po?o 1), 14,45% (Po?o 2), 14,62% (Po?o 3) e 22,29% (Po?o 4). Logo, a abordagem probabil?stica permitiu que as vaz?es injetadas fossem satisfatoriamente estimadas mesmo nos casos em que a resolu??o do sensor de temperatura era inadequada ? detec??o de pequenas varia??es na temperatura do fluido. Portanto, a metodologia de c?lculo das vaz?es injetadas a partir do perfil de temperatura do fluido foi validada com sucesso. / This thesis is a contribution to the development of flow sensors in oil and gas industry. The main objective of this work is presenting a methodology to measure the flow rates into multiple-zone water-injection wells from fluid temperature profiles and estimate the measurement uncertainty. First, the classical Ramey equation describing the fluid temperature as a function of flow was presented. Then, three methods to calculate the flow rates from temperature profile were described and the flow sensor was computationally modeled. Next, the flow rates into four multiple-zone injection-wells, located in Rio Grande do Norte, were calculated from temperature profiles experimentally measured. The calculated flow rates were compared to the measured flow rates. The preliminary results, obtained from Wells 1 and 2, were satisfactory. In these wells, the maximum errors were equals to 28,55% (Well 1) and 15,72% (Well 2). However, significant deviations between the calculated and the measured flow rates were found at Wells 3 and 4. In these wells, the maximum errors were equals to 536,84% (Well 3) and 335,54% (Well 4). The Ramey equation was expanded in Taylor Series and linearized to obtain an explicit, linear, function between the flow and the fluid temperature. Then, a quantitative uncertainty analysis was performed. From this analysis, it was observed, due the temperature sensor resolution, the expanded measurement uncertainty may achieve about 155,04% of the calculated flow rate. Then, the injected flow rates were stochastically recalculated from the probability distributions of the measured temperatures, through a Monte Carlo simulation. The new calculated flow rates presented maximum errors of 3,67% (Well 1), 14,45% (Well 2), 14,62% (Well 3) and 22,29% (Well 4). This probabilistic approach allowed injected flow rates to be estimated even in the cases where the temperature sensor resolution was inadequate to detection of small variations into the fluid temperature. Therefore, the methodology to calculate the injected flow rates from the fluid temperature profile was successfully validated.
