A Partially Randomized Approach to Trajectory Planning and Optimization for Mobile Robots with Flat DynamicsSeemann, Martin 21 May 2019 (has links)
Motion planning problems are characterized by huge search spaces and complex obstacle structures with no concise mathematical expression. The fixed-wing airplane application considered in this thesis adds differential constraints and point-wise bounds, i. e. an infinite number of equality and inequality constraints.
An optimal trajectory planning approach is presented, based on the randomized Rapidly-exploring Random Trees framework (RRT*).
The local planner relies on differential flatness of the equations of motion to obtain tree branch candidates that automatically satisfy the differential constraints. Flat output trajectories, in this case equivalent to the airplane's flight path, are designed using Bézier curves. Segment feasibility in terms of point-wise inequality constraints is tested by an indicator integral, which is evaluated alongside the segment cost functional.
Although the RRT* guarantees optimality in the limit of infinite planning time, it is argued by intuition and experimentation that convergence is not approached at a practically useful rate. Therefore, the randomized planner is augmented by a deterministic variational optimization technique. To this end, the optimal planning task is formulated as a semi-infinite optimization problem, using the intermediate result of the RRT(*) as an initial guess. The proposed optimization algorithm follows the feasible flavor of the primal-dual interior point paradigm. Discretization of functional (infinite) constraints is deferred to the linear subproblems, where it is realized implicitly by numeric quadrature. An inherent numerical ill-conditioning of the method is circumvented by a reduction-like approach, which tracks active constraint locations by introducing new problem variables. Obstacle avoidance is achieved by extending the line search procedure and dynamically adding obstacle-awareness constraints to the problem formulation.
Experimental evaluation confirms that the hybrid approach is practically feasible and does indeed outperform RRT*'s built-in optimization mechanism, but the computational burden is still significant.

[pt] PROBLEMAS PARA A FINITUDE EM SPINOZA / [en] PROBLEMS FOR FINITUDE IN SPINOZAPEDRO VASCONCELOS J DE GOMLEVSKY 22 June 2023 (has links)
básica do trabalho.
quinto lugar, o texto conclui recapitulando as contribuições deste trabalho e
[en] The aim of the present text is to demonstrate the impossibility of the
deduction of both finitude and motion in the system of Spinoza s Ethics. The interest
behind this objective is to provide reasons that justify the pertinence of updating
Spinoza s philosophy. To this end, the method employed will be an immanent
reading of this work, trying, whenever possible, to avoid exogenous understandings
of its content. Thus, the text is divided into five parts. First, there is an introduction
in which the objectives, the method used, and the basic structure of the work are
presented. Secondly, there is a presentation of the relevant presuppositions for the
intended demonstration, such as the concepts of: substance, attributes, infinite
modes, finite modes, the principle of sufficient reason and true knowledge. In the
third part the problem is delimited more precisely in three steps. Initially,
differentiating it from the accusation of acosmism, made by Hegel against Spinoza.
Then, pointing out the epistolary exchange between Spinoza and Tschirnhaus as an
instance of the precise position of the problems considered, whose formulations are
polished resulting in three questions. After that, the third stage of this third chapter
seeks to defend the legitimacy of posing such questions, against the claims of two
contemporary commentators. Then the text proceeds to its fourth act, in a series of
steps. First, thirteen contemporary attempts to solve the problem are presented and
evaluated. They are grouped into three sets, each related primarily to one of the
three questions reached in the previous step. From the consideration of these
attempts, further criticism arises in the interest of establishing the impossibility of
demonstrating motion and finitude in the system of the Ethics. Thereafter, all the
results obtained in this stage are consolidated, in an individualized treatment of the
three questions cited, each subjected to four stages. Initially, the legitimacy or not
of the question is explained. Next, the assumptions relevant to the issue under
consideration are shown. After that, what the interpretation advanced by this thesis
believes can be demonstrated according to Spinoza is positively demonstrated. Finally, the polemical demonstrations are included, in which the inadequacies of
the positive demonstrations proposed in light of the presuppositions advanced and
other arguments are presented. At this point in the text, the fourth chapter moves on
to its last two stages. First the presentation of two more critiques of the notions of
motion and finitude in Spinoza. After this, to close this stage, a diagnosis is
included, where it is intended to determine what has caused the difficulties treated.
Finally, in fifth place, the text concludes by recapitulating the contributions of this
work and proposing in brief principles for a philosophy that gives up the
assumptions considered problematic and that, therefore, could deal differently with
the themes of movement and finiteness. In addition, some questions that this
direction of thought leaves open are presented, pointing to further developments,
finally closing this work.

[pt] FRACTAIS E O MODELO DE VAN-HIELE: UMA PROPOSTA DE UNIÃO PARA O ENSINO DA MATEMÁTICA NA EDUCAÇÃO BÁSICA / [en] FRACTALS AND THE VAN-HIELE MODEL: A UNION PROPOSAL FOR THE TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS IN BASIC EDUCATIONPABLO BARBOSA FONSECA 25 June 2020 (has links)
[en] This dissertation discusses the use of fractals in the teaching of mathematical subjects in the context of elementary, middle and high school, aiming at raising and attracting the interest and curiosity of the students through the beauty and dynamism they offer to the construction of mathematical concepts such as: similarity, perimeter, area, volume, arithmetic and geometric progression. This work begins with a brief history about the emergence of fractals and a summary of levels of cognitive development according to the van-Hiele model. Then, it is shown a collection of activities involving fractals with increasing difficulty levels that provide students with meaningful learning with nuances of modernity. From their own perceptions and the exchange of ideas between them, they formulated recursive techniques to predict a next iteration of the figure and means to obtaining the perimeter and area of the next figures. We believe that with this dissertation we can not only work and develop basic mathematical concepts, but also foster the study of the infinity concept, in addition to reducing the distance between Algebra and Geometry imposed by most current textbooks in use.

[pt] ANÁLISE DE ESTABILIDADE DE TALUDES AO LONGO DA ROTA DE UM DUTO SUBMARINO NA BACIA DE CAMPOS, RJ / [en] SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS ALONG A SUBMARINE PIPELINE`S ROUTE AT CAMPOS BASIN, RJBARBARA AZEVEDO DA SILVA 25 October 2005 (has links)
Devido as adversidades à estabilidade do fundo marinho,
formulação clássica do talude infinito.
[en] This research analyses stability conditions of marine
sediments superficial layers of along a 10 in. diameter
pipeline`s route, located at Campos Basin, RJ. The
geological and geotechnical data were obtained during a
wide geophysical and geotechnical survey along the
pipeline`s route. Due to adversities to botton stability
found in the marine environment, several qualitative and
quantitative stability analysis have been made. Nowadays,
because of environmental and safety issues, the researches
are more focused on quantitative analysis of geohazards
associated with the stability condition of the sea bottom,
since slope slides represent the main risk for those
structures. The stability analyses were based on the
infinite slope theory. The methodology applied was the
same used by Nowacki et al. (2003) at the deep fields of
Mad Dog and Atlantis, in the Gulf of Mexico. The results
were compared with the results from the classical
formulation of the infinite slope. An integration of
geotechnical and geophysical data was necessary, in order
to obtain all the parameters used in the methodology. The
results indicated two critical points along the route,
both associated with the flanks of the Itapemirim Canyon,
which have steep slopes. Brief studies were made to
evaluate the importance of triggering mechanisms
(earthquakes and storm waves) at these critical points but
the results discard this possibility. It was also
concluded that the geotechnical data used in this research
were insufficient and in a certain way not appropriate for
the slope stability analysis. A new geotechnical lab tests
campaign was proposed for future studies.
