The Study of Supply Chain Finance Applications ¡VA Case Study of The Uni-President Group

Chen, Li-chuan 08 September 2006 (has links)
Domestic marketing is in vigorous development these years. On the one hand is to be in accordance with the fast changing of the market due to the goods flow concerns the survival development very much; on the other hand, because of the impact of joining the WTO and the challenge of globalization, enterprises are in the tight corner that even they don¡¦t go out, there are rivals attack actively. The empires feel the pressure, and of course, so do those small and medium-sized enterprises. Under this kind of circumstance, most of the enterprises develop the logistics and the information flow as the main consideration, but as the finance flow, is only for accounting. Though the academic world has re- searches on marketing, most of them are about the logistics and the infor- mation flow. As the part of combining the reformation of finance flow, per- haps one certain company gets some advantages from it, but to the industry or enterprise connecting with supply chain as the main body, there is no complete integrated discussion about upstream and downriver and let alone the research regarding the integrated profit. This research takes the leading domestic food industry, Uni-President, as the object. The whole supply chain takes the Uni-President as the core and extends to the upstream supplying system, downriver retailing system and the end of logistics to discuss the alternation of finance flow¡¦s procedures and the benefits from the application. Through the case description and analysis, the customers (the sales companies and distributors), the collaborative banks, all Uni-President¡¦s manufactories and the suppliers (manufactures) start out for the potential need to the finance flow. It reveals the fact that how the group coordinates, discovers and plans to find out the essential reformation and core value to the finance flow step by step and by way of continuous communi- cation and persuasion to push the reformation which joins the banking group, suppliers and customers to the finance flow. To this entire supply chain, it encourages the fund¡¦s turnover, upgrades the business credit, widens the financial accommodation, reduces the risks of operation, and accelerates the operation profits in the chain. Those mentioned above provide an invisible and powerful competitive advantage and a closer strategic cooperative value between upstream and downriver for all the strategic partners in this supply chain to create a marvelous and a win-win situation. Hoping this research could help the industries/private enterprises who are willing to be devoted on this and be as an important reference while they plan the reformation of the finance flow to the supply chain.

Framing and the End of Operation Iraqi Freedom

Hickman, James Robert 01 January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative framing study is to analyze the dominant frames that were reflected in the news coverage of two separate Presidential speeches marking the proposed cessation of combat operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In order to determine which frames emerged in the coverage of each speech, a content analysis of 105 thesiss from 4 national newspapers was conducted. Analysis included the week preceding and the week following each speech in an effort to capture the immediate coverage surrounding each address. The findings suggest that the dominate frames utilized were the economic consequences frame, the responsibility frame and the human interest frame. The use of these three frames demonstrates that the press finds comfort in using previously identified frames in its coverage of key events. While there were specific incidents where press coverage veered from the narrative depicted by each presidential administration, these can be viewed as the exception rather than the norm. Beyond these 105 thesiss, the results of this study cannot be generalized, but they can be viewed as an exemplar of the media's view of these presidential addresses.

Framing Obama : A Comparative Study of Keywords and Frames in Two Washington Newspapers

Renström, Caroline January 2011 (has links)
This study aims to contribute to the understanding of ideology conveyed by lexical items and framing of texts. Since ideology is embedded in language the frames used in newspapers construct a narrow ideological perspective for the readers to interpret subjects and events through. On the basis of editorials from The Washington Post and The Washington Times that cover President Barack Obama, the study examines how the editorials differ in their framing of Obama and which discourses and keywords occur unusually frequently in each newspaper. Findings suggest that when it comes to framing, The Washington Post allows for a relatively balanced perspective on Obama as they both support and criticise him, while The Washington Times overwhelmingly condemns and attacks Obama. A keyword analysis points to unusually frequent discourses on race, conservatives and reforms in The Washington Post, and spending, unemployment and political institutions in The Washington Times. Because of their ideological differences the newspapers construct a reality where the subject, Obama, is presented in very different ways.

Canadian University Presidents on Sustainability: Definitions, Roles and Ways Forward

McNeil, Rebecca 29 May 2013 (has links)
Increasingly, universities are being tasked with leading the way to a sustainable future. Yet little is known about how Canadian university presidents conceptualize sustainable development and the role of the university in this endeavor. With studies demonstrating that it is important for university stakeholders to share common understandings of sustainability, and that administrators are especially instrumental in the pursuit of a sustainable university, these stakeholders’ perspectives and values around the concept of sustainability in higher education are significant. This study, which included in-depth interviews with 26 Canadian university presidents, revealed that presidents have substantially high levels of eco-literacy surrounding the concept of sustainable development and understand sustainability in higher education in measures relevant to their jurisdiction. Barriers were primarily financial, although cost-savings through energy reduction was also noted as a benefit, along with it being “the right thing to do” and worthwhile because of its perceived significance to students. The piece ends with recommendations for practitioners of sustainability, policy makers, researchers and university administrators.

Salvador
