The Meaning of Urban Governance by Value Change between Urban and Rural in Taiwan

Yeh, Chin-Chia 11 March 2008 (has links)
The importance of value lies in its potential influence of people¡¦s behavior and decision. It also determines how people distribute their available resources. After the World War II, in the western developed countries people¡¦s value has changed to post-materialism due to the stable growth of economy in these countries. People transferred their value priority from economy growth, stable job, authority, order, and rationality, to freedom of speech, environmental protection, multi-value, leisure time, art, and self- expression. These changes have caused governments to react these issues think about how to govern the diversity and complicity of changing value. This research focuses on value of time and space transformation by analysing data from Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSCS). Through re-construction scale and calculate score of post-material value, the paper examines trend of value changes from 1985 to 2005 by adopting one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA and three-way ANOVA approaches to analyse the differences of value among socio-economic variables. From the findings this research reveals that: (1) In Taiwan, value including period effect, age effect and cohort effect has significant changes along with time passing by; (2) Variables influencing value changes include age, income, education, job, marriage, and urban attributes. Income interacts with urban attribute, and moreover, income, urban attribute, and marriage interact with one another; (3) The effect of gender has not been proven for influencing value change; however, value of female gradually changes toward post-material value; (4) The influence of income value decreases when income decrease; however, this influence does not have significant change between people of age 40 to 59; (5) Job does not have significant influence on secondary industry and tertiary industry in early stages, and it also does not have significant influence on primary industry and secondary industry in lately stages; (6) People with high income, high education, or in unmarried status have high post-material value; (7) The difference of urban attribute shows that there is significant difference between urban, town, and rural, due to urban value changes toward post-material in early stage; however in lately stage there is no significant difference between urban and town. From the finding above it indicates that value changes from urban to town in space respect; (8) Between urban and income interaction of value change, people in urban area show significant difference of income value, then comes to people in town, finally people in rural area. As to the interaction among urban, income and marriage, it shows that single people with low income show significant difference in urban attribute; (9) Governments of urban area with post-material features should distribute resource in post-material governance. This research finds that there are significant post-material features in urban area, and significant material features in rural area; (10) Form indictor of macroeconomics, personal expenditure, interpellation of city council, election bulletin, final accounting of expenditure, this research shows that urban governance also shifts as researched value changes; (11) Since 2000, Taiwan has faced economic recession and raising unemployment problems which cause value changes toward material value. This change leads local governments to decrease expenditure on both environmental protection and community development during 2000 to 2007; (12) Urban government should focus on good governance, and value changing toward post-material contributes to foundation of good governance. Governments should improve the way of governance based on these value changes.

Efficiency of hospitals : Evaluation of Cambio COSMIC system

Li, Haorui January 2007 (has links)
<p>In this modern world, healthcare has becoming a popular word in human life. People pay their attention on their health protection and treatment, but at the same time, they need to bear the high expenditure for their healthcare processing.</p><p>It is a serious problem that the government income can not afford the large expense in healthcare industry. Especially in some developing countries, healthcare problem has become the problem for the nation development.</p><p>We would like to choose this basic way to solve this problem directly, to provide the channel to improve the efficiency of healthcare system, Cambio COSMIC.</p><p>The aim to analysis COSMIC for my case study is to find out the conclusion that how does the architect design the system from the stakeholders requirement to achieve the success of improving the efficiency of healthcare system. And how to measure the success for the system achieving to improve the efficiency of healthcare system is still required to indicate.</p>

Exchanges for complex commodities [electronic resource] : toward a general-purpose system for on-line trading / by John Hershberger.

Hershberger, John, 1980- January 2003 (has links)
Title from PDF of title page. / Document formatted into pages; contains 117 pages. / Thesis (M.S.C.S.)--University of South Florida, 2003. / Includes bibliographical references. / Text (Electronic thesis) in PDF format. / ABSTRACT: The modern economy includes a variety of markets, and the Internet has opened opportunities for efficient on-line trading. Researchers have developed algorithms for various auctions, which have become a popular means for on-line sales. They have also designed algorithms for exchange-based markets, similar to the traditional stock exchange, which support fast-paced trading of rigidly standardized securities. In contrast, there has been little work on exchanges for complex nonstandard commodities, such as used cars or collectible stamps. We propose a formal model for trading of complex goods, and present an automated exchange for a limited version of this model. The exchange allows the traders to describe commodities by multiple attributes; for example, a car buyer may specify a model, options, color, and other desirable properties. / ABSTRACT: Furthermore, a trader may enter constraints on the acceptable items rather than a specific item; for example, a buyer may look for any car that satisfies certain constraints, rather than for one particular vehicle. We present an extensive empirical evaluation of the implemented exchange, using artificial data, and then give results for two real-world markets, used cars and commercial paper. The experiments show that the system supports markets with up to 260,000 orders, and generates one hundred to one thousand trades per second. / System requirements: World Wide Web browser and PDF reader. / Mode of access: World Wide Web.

BGP Extended Community Attribute for QoS Marking

Knoll, Thomas Martin 09 June 2008 (has links) (PDF)
This document specifies a simple signalling mechanism for inter-domain QoS marking using a BGP Extended Community QoS Attribute. Class based packet forwarding for delay and loss critical services is currently performed in an individual AS internal manner. The new QoS marking attribute makes the QoS class setup within the IP prefix advertising AS known to all access and transit ASes. This enables individual (re-)marking and forwarding treatment adaptation to the original QoS class setup of the respective IP prefix. The attribute provides the means to signal QoS markings on different layers, which are linked together in QoS class sets. It provides inter-domain and cross-layer insight into the QoS class mapping of the source AS with minimal signalling traffic.

Specification, implementation and verification of refactorings

Schaefer, Max January 2010 (has links)
Refactoring is the process of reorganising or restructuring code by means of behaviour-preserving program transformations, themselves called refactorings. Most modern development environments come with built-in support for refactoring in the form of automated refactorings that the user can perform at the push of a button. Implementing refactorings is notoriously complex, however, and even state-of-the-art implementations have very low standards of correctness and can introduce subtle changes of behaviour into refactored programs. In this thesis, we develop concepts and techniques that make it possible to give concise, modular specifications of refactorings. These specifications are precise enough to cover all details of the object language, and thus give rise to full featured, high-quality refactoring implementations. Their modularity, on the other hand, makes them amenable to formal proof, and hence opens the door to the rigorous verification of refactorings. We discuss a disciplined approach to maintaining name bindings and avoiding name capture by treating the binding from a name to the declaration it refers to as a dependency that the refactoring has to preserve. This approach readily generalises to other types of dependencies for capturing control flow, data flow and synchronisation behaviour. To implement complex refactorings, it is often helpful for the refactoring to internally work on a richer language with language extensions that make the transformation easier to express. We show how this allows the decomposition of refactorings into small microrefactorings that can be specified, implemented and verified in isolation. We evaluate our approach by giving specifications and implementations of many commonly used refactorings that are concise, yet match the implementations in the popular Java development environment Eclipse in terms of features, and outperform them in terms of correctness. We give detailed informal correctness proofs for some of our specifications, which are greatly aided by their modular structure. Finally, we discuss a rigorous formalisation of the central name binding framework used by most of our specifications in the theorem prover Coq, and show how its correctness can be established mechanically.

Den feminina maskeraden : Attributen som skapar ytspänningar / the Feminine Masquerade

Grimborg, Lotta January 2015 (has links)
We live in a world constructed by predeterminations, divided by gender. It’s a masquerade that we’re all taking part in, men by their gaze and women by embodying it. I’ve investigated spaces where feminine attributes are interconnected to a female body, and aspects that shape the misleading mask. In my research I discovered that there are three areas where a woman and female attributes are merged: In media where the stereotype image of a woman is confirmed in glossy magazines and in reality shows. In the bathroom, a room that represents the starting point of the masquerade. And last in typical feminine rooms, beauty salons, where make-up and nail polish is applied to female bodies. By researching spaces I discovered that bodies are shaped by the exclusion of the other sex and by gender specific norms. Out from my own bodily perception I have investigated the feminine surface in the borderland between corpus and jewellery. In my process I shifted the perspective by creating wearable pieces that illustrate the undressing of femininity and by dressing traditionally masculine corpus in feminine materials. All together the objects make up a burlesque staging of a feminine scenography. It’s first when an object loses its initial function that we can create new reference points. It’s when lipstick is casted in the shape of soap and when a high heel is separated from the shoe that they become disconnected from the female body. / <p>The full thesis contains copyrighted material which has been removed in the published version.</p>

Grafinės duomenų bazės blokų atributų valdymo sistema / The graphical data base block attribute management system

Lukoševičius, Kęstutis 12 January 2005 (has links)
In the recent two years the analysis of principal and connective circuitry drawings proved that the principal and connective circuitries of very complicated projects are kept in a single file. Therefore, traditional specialized automated design system are not able to build and draw hybrid circuitries with the fragments of electromechanically networks together with the display of sensors and processors. The number of elements in such project files may reach from a few hundred until a few thousand. As this number is so high, the standard AutoCAD means do not quite fulfill the designers’ needs of working with blocks and their attributes. In this way they choose automated means that do not limit their abilities in preparing technical, assembly and tuning documentation, necessary for the completion of the projects. Therefore, based on the master’s paper, in order to fulfill the aforementioned needs, the building of the graphical data base block attribute system management system has been completed. The objective of the paper is the attributes and management of the graphical data base blocks. The purpose of the paper is to create a system of the graphical database attribute management and the means of using it. The purpose is defined by the following tasks: graphic data bases are analyzed; also the graphical data base blocks, their attributes, constituent parts and their management; the means of using the system in the medium of Auto CAD; based on the master’s paper the system of...
