O tema da dissertação é a noção de “Homem Novo” no discurso educacional angolano. Trata-se de uma análise discursiva sobre documentos da Educação em Angola, em especial sobre a LBSE – Lei de Bases do Sistema de Educação 13/01 – e documentos relacionados. O foco do trabalho está na trama complexa de discursos que prometem e mesmo produzem um sujeito da educação, aqui tratado como “homem novo”, no interior do currículo. O Homem Novo é apresentado como o sujeito sobre o qual recaem as ideias de desenvolvimento, transformação e futuro. Desenvolve-se este estudo a partir de vários autores angolanos (ANDRÉ, 2004; PINTO, 2013; GONÇALVES, 2001) que tratam do tema, relativo ao processo de formação do homem novo, assim como autores estrangeiros (FOUCAULT, 1997; HALL, 1992) que pensam a respeito da constituição do sujeito, de modo geral. A pesquisa está ancorada no pensamento foucaultiano para compreender como o perfil e as características do sujeito desejado pela LBSE se constituem, juntamente com o documento curricular do Ensino Primário, de forma a sustentar o aparecimento do homem novo, por meio dos discursos econômicos, culturais e da alfabetização como verdade. A pesquisa empírica fundamenta-se na análise documental dos materiais que permitem percorrer os desdobramentos da LBSE. Ademais, o processo que constitui o homem novo na proposta curricular do sistema educativo, se trama nas práticas discursivas sobre cultura, alfabetização e econômia. / The theme of this dissertation is the notion of “New Man” in the Angolan educational discourse. This is a discursive analysis on documents of Education in Angola, in particular, on the LBSE (in Portuguese) ‒ Basic Education System Law 13/01 ‒ and related documents. The focus of the dissertation lies in the complex web of discourses that promise and even produce a subject of education, here treated as a “new man” within the curriculum. The New Man is presented as the subject on which the ideas of development, transformation and future fall. This study is based on a number of Angolan authors (ANDRÉ, 2004; PINTO, 2013; GONÇALVES, 2001), who deal with the issue of the formation of the new man, as well as foreign authors (FOUCAULT, 1997; HALL, 1992), who think about the constitution of the subject, in general. The research is anchored in Foucauldian thinking to understand how the profile and characteristics of the individual desired by the LBSE, together with the curricular document of Primary Education, are constituted in order to sustain the appearance of the new man through the economic, cultural and literacy discourses as truth. The empirical research is based on the documentary analysis of the materials that allow to follow the unfolding of the LBSE. In addition, the process that constitutes the new man in the curricular proposal of the educational system, is plotted in the discursive practices on culture, literacy and economy.

O CD-ROM Voz: Fonoaudiologia e Medicina, volume 1, vem sendo utilizado como recurso didático em materiais de educação presencial e a distância, bem como estratégia terapêutica na prática clínica, havendo, ainda, a possibilidade de aplicação na aprendizagem de uma segunda língua. Sendo assim, este estudo foi conduzido com a hipótese de que é possível realizar a tradução transcultural deste CD-ROM para a língua inglesa. Os objetivos dessa pesquisa foram: a) atualizar a versão em Português do CD-ROM; b) traduzir e adaptar os conteúdos atualizados do CD-ROM em língua portuguesa para a língua inglesa americana e c) avaliar o conteúdo da tradução e a capacidade de reprodução dos objetivos e competências do material educacional na língua inglesa. Considerando estudos internacionais, para esta pesquisa foi utilizada uma metodologia que engloba a tradução feita por um tradutor, a retrotradução realizada por um segundo tradutor e a versão consenso realizada por um terceiro tradutor. Esta versão consenso foi submetida a uma banca de dez especialistas das áreas de fonoaudiologia, odontologia e tradução para avaliação. Como critério para avaliação da banca de especialistas, cada um dos membros preencheu dois questionários englobando a pertinência dos conceitos, os significados e a equivalência entre os pares de línguas de todas as seções do CDROM. Foram atribuídos notas de zero a dez em cada seção do questionário, considerando-se zero como totalmente alterado e dez inalterado, uma vez que o termo inalterado significa que a tradução manteve o objetivo do material original. Para a apresentação dos resultados, foi calculada a média ± desvio-padrão das notas atribuídas pelos dez especialistas. Além disso, a versão traduzida também foi avaliada pelos especialistas com relação à capacidade de reproduzir as habilidades e competências educacionais do material em língua portuguesa para a língua inglesa americana. O valor do Coeficiente de Correlação Intraclasse (CCI) para os dez avaliadores foi de 0,73, que corresponde a um nível satisfatório de coincidência de respostas entre os diferentes avaliadores. Em relação às notas atribuídas pela banca de dez especialistas, estas variaram de 8,8±0,91 a 9,9±0,31, com média e o desvio-padrão de 9,6±0,30, o que sugere qualidade muito boa da versão consenso. Ao final da avaliação da tradução pela banca de especialistas, os responsáveis pela pesquisa ponderaram as modificações sugeridas e realizaram uma revisão final de todo o conteúdo, para que, assim, a versão final fosse obtida e apresentada ao final deste trabalho. Risk of sperm competition moderatres men's relationship satisfaction and interest in their partner's copulatory orgasmUnknown Date (has links)
Sperm competition occurs when the sperm of multiple males concurrently occupy a female's reproductive tract and compete for fertilization. Sperm competition may have been a recurrent adaptive problem over human evolutionary history. Women's orgasm may facilitate retention of a particular man's sperm. I therefore hypothesized that men experiencing greater sperm competition risk will be particularly interested in the occurrence of their partner's copulatory orgasm. Men who are more satisfied with and invested in their relationship may experience greater costs in the event of sperm competition and potential cuckoldry. Therefore, these men may be more interested in ensuring their partner's copulatory orgasm. I hypothesized that men's relationship satisfaction and investment would predict interest in their partner's copulatory orgasm and moderate the link between sperm competition risk and interest in partner's copulatory orgasm. Using data secured from 229 men in a committed relationship, I tested and found support for these hypotheses. / by Vincent M. Mycket forskning har bedrivits med syfte att förstå ensamkommande barn i relation till gode män, i samband med flykten till ett främmande land. Vad som inte studerats i samma utsträckning är gode män till ensamkommande barn och deras perspektiv på uppdraget som god man. Denna uppsats ämnar därför att studera de gode männens upplevelser av uppdraget som god man till ensamkommande barn. Uppsatsen fokuserar på de gode männens upplevelser av relationen med barnet, kontakten med olika myndigheter, hur de upplever att uppdraget som roll karaktäriseras och hur gode männens motivation till uppdraget påverkas av deras upplevelse av rollen som god man. Förhoppningen med studien är att få en djupare inblick i hur gode män upplever uppdraget som god man till ensamkommande barn, samt öka förståelsen för den som engagerar sig. Vi hoppas även att studien ska öppna upp för diskussion i det svenska samhället kring huruvida godmanskapet, som det är utformat idag, verkligen är lämpligt i bemötandet av ensamkommande barn. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer har 12 informanter med erfarenhet som god man till ensamkommande barn i Sverige delat med sig av berättelser från deras tid som god man. Den insamlade empirin analyserades med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys med syftet att se hur sociologen Johan Asplunds teorier om social responsivitet kunde genomsyra materialet. Dessutom har Arlie Hochschilds och Mikael Allvins teorier använts som ett komplement till Johan Asplunds teorier. Resultatet visar att gode män upplever arbetsuppgifterna inom uppdraget som otydliga, vilket påverkar sociala interaktioner med olika parter inom uppdraget, samt den gode mannens välmående.

Este trabalho procura investigar no livro de contos Bichos (1940), do escritor modernista português Miguel Torga, pseudônimo literário de Adolfo Correia Rocha, a cosmovisão do autor que emerge a temática telúrica (a Natureza) bem como uma série de reflexões acerca da condição humana, a partir das quais traz à tona também uma nova concepção de humanismo. Partimos do princípio de que, nas narrativas, o homem se encontra numa sociedade civilizada, corrompido por valores do seu tempo, distanciado de modo exagerado de sua origem e, para que encontre um sentido para a sua existência, o homem tem de regressar à sua origem (à Natureza, que aparece nos contos dentro de uma perspectiva panteísta). Voltando à origem, por meio do contato com o outro, isto é, com os seres vivos que vivem integrados à natureza, o homem despertará e reaprenderá a usar a sua sensibilidade e passará a harmonizá-la com a razão. Passando, assim, a viver de modo fraterno e equilibrado com todos os seres do universo como forma de suavizar a dureza do trajeto existencial humano, marcado, por exemplo: pela angústia e solidão. Para darmos consistência a este estudo, utilizamos como suporte teórico autores, como Kierkegaard, Sartre e Heidegger; o sociólogo francês Michel Maffesoli; Mikhail Bakhtin; Marc Augé, e outros que contribuem de modo significativo para a análise e discussão do tema. / This study tries to research the storybook Bichos (1940), by the portuguese modernist writer Miguel Torga, literary pseudonym of Adolfo Correia Rocha, the cosmovision of the author who emerges from the land-based theme (Nature) and a series of reflections about the human condition, from which also brings out a new conception of humanism. We depart from the principle that, in the narratives, the man is in a \"civilized\" society, corrupted by the values of his time, away out of proportion to their origin and to find a meaning to his existence, man has to return to his origin (to Nature, which appears in the tales within a pantheistic perspective). Returning to the origin, through contact with one another, that is, living beings who live integrated with nature, man will \"wake up\" and will \"relearn\" to use his sensibility and will bring to his reason. Turning thus to live in a fraternal and balanced with all universe beings as a way to soften the harshness of the human existential path, marked, for example: by anguish and loneliness. To give consistency to this study, we use as theoretical support authors, as Kierkegaard, Heidegger and Sartre; the french sociologist Michel Maffesoli; Mikhail Bakhtin; Marc Augé, and others who contribute significantly for the analysis and discussion of the theme.

Collaborative momentum: the author and the middle man in U.S. literature and cultureLavin, Matthew Josef 01 July 2012 (has links)
In the frame introduction to Willa Cather's My Ántonia (1918), an unnamed author encounters her childhood friend Jim Burden on a cross-country train. Jim asks the author why she has never written anything about their mutual friend Ántonia. To answer Jim's criticism, she proposes they both write stories about Ántonia, but only Jim honors the agreement. The rest of the novel is put forth as Jim's manuscript "substantially" as he brought it to the author (xii). This scenario is but one of several ways My Ántonia evokes Cather's experience ghostwriting S.S. McClure's My Autobiography (1914) for, just as the authorial voice in My Ántonia dissolves into Jim's, Cather had to adopt McClure's perspective to write her former employer's life story. Going further, Cather worked closely with her book editor Ferris Greenslet and the production editor R.L. Scaife to be sure Houghton Mifflin would paginate the introduction with roman numerals and thereby produce the effect of a true authorial preface. The introduction recalls the preface of McClure's autobiography, which acknowledged Cather for "cooperation" that contributed to "the very existence" of his book.
Interpreting My Ántonia and My Autobiography as projects connected by authorial process, textual allusion, and even typesetting suggests the complicated and elusive nature of collaborative labor in the literary marketplace, as well as the extent to which modern literary texts responded to those complexities. Working on a task or project with a partner or in a group can frustrate, energize or empower those involved, but whatever feelings it inspires, interactive labor often has a life of its own. This is the idea of collaborative momentum. My dissertation examines relationships among authors, agents, editors, publishers, and unofficial "middle men" to argue that supportive and adversarial cycles of interactive labor in the modern American literary marketplace created the basic parameters of modern authorship. I show that as professional specialization becomes more rigid and institutionalized, the literary field paradoxically created new spaces for nebulous but crucial cooperative labor. In particular, the effect I call collaborative momentum facilitated the exchange of economic and symbolic capital. Additionally, I show that narratives of the modern period are inextricably invested in corporate and institutional labor systems that surround them and can be interpreted as rhetorical attempts to reform and improve those systems.
By analyzing the author's cultural identity in relation to rising institutional collaborators of the modern era, I contribute to the steadily growing field of authorship studies while adding to ongoing scholarly conversations about individual authors and texts. My chapters analyze the systemic production of literary identity, reciprocal relationships between editors and authors, the modern apparatus of literary debut, and the role bibliophilia and book collecting played in the production of The New Negro. I therefore highlight four paradigmatic examples of interactive labor while simultaneously emphasizing that collaborative momentum as I describe it was crucial not only to those with privilege but also to individuals and groups struggling against inequality, whether it was Salish novelist D'Arcy McNickle, Alain LeRoy Locke, or self-employed literary agent Flora May Holly. My work helps scholars see a power structure that granted disproportionate credibility to white men as literary creators and publishing industry insiders, yet it also shows a modern American literary culture shaped as much by the experience of marginalized individuals and groups negotiating a discriminatory publishing industry as it was by aesthetic contests between popular fiction and high modernism.
My first chapter, Character, Personality, and the Editor Figure: William Dean Howells and the Institution of Image-Building establishes that the same cultural logic that allowed Samuel Clemens to develop a public persona as a fictional character also empowered William Dean Howells to create his literary identity as the nation's foremost editor figure. Further, I argue that image-building was a collaborative affair; Howells and many others helped define Mark Twain, and countless authors and critics came to define Howells as the Dean of American Letters in the 1890s and as America's "pious old maid" after his death in 1920. I argue that Howells' persona-work extends to his novel A Hazard of New Fortunes (1890). The main characters--co-founders of a fictional literary magazine--have contrasting identities: one is ostentatious but lacks substance; the other is so unsure he hardly has an identity. Labor crises at the magazine and in the city streets gesture at the problematic nature of a personality-driven culture that had come to define selfhood without emphasizing a moral or ethical element.
In chapter two, "Reciprocity and the `Real' Author: Willa Cather as S.S. McClure's Ghostwriter," I trace a cycle of debt--monetary and symbolic--from McClure's rise as magazine editor to a moment of financial crisis in 1912 that led his corporate board to oust him from his own magazine. To pay off his debts, he asked Willa Cather to author his autobiography. I read the ghostwriting project as an example of how mutual debt is generative, for Cather accepted the role out of personal loyalty and took no money for her work. Cather's fictional works, including My Ántonia and The Professor's House (1925), engage with the cycle of debt and indebtedness and imagine a narrative exchange unclouded by any question of money but tied, instead, to a dream of self-sacrificing friendship. My article "It's Mr. Reynolds Who Wishes It: Profit and Prestige Shared by Cather and Her Literary Agent," in Cather Studies Volume 9, "Willa Cather and Modern Cultures," draws on material from this chapter.
My third chapter, "Discovery of the Month: D'Arcy McNickle and the Apparatus of Literary Debut" takes up as its interpretive focus changing institutions of literary career-launching. My approach brings together two scholarly conversations, one preoccupied with McNickle's refinement of his perception of Native cultures and the other, informed by a history of the book methodology, concerned with the cultural systems that codified twentieth-century authorial identity and credibility. McNickle is an important example of how institutions of discovery functioned. The exceptional aspects of McNickle's story--the nine-year duration of his effort to publish his first book, his outsider identity, and the number of avenues he tried in order to become established make him an ideal example. To better understand McNickle's relationship with literary agent Ruth Rae, I frame my analysis with the story of the literary agent's rise as an integral figure in literary debut. Turning to McNickle's fiction in the second part of this chapter, I analyze his The Surrounded as a reaction to cultural institutions of literary discovery. McNickle narrates the tragedy of failed mediation and gestures at an alternative model of interaction. He embeds this thematic exploration in his allusions to the Salish oral tradition, so that the text itself mediates an experience of cultural discovery.
Chapter four, "Irrepressible Anthologies, Collectible: Bibliophilia and Book Collecting in the New Negro," continues my analysis of the literary middle man's collision with American modernity by tracing the intersection of anthology, book collecting, and bibliophilia as they pertain to The New Negro's book design, artistic form, and multi-generic content. While recent studies have linked the anthology to Boazian ethnography and modernist collage, I provide a more immediate reading of the philosophies of collecting inherent to modern and African American print cultures. I read The New Negro as a book production process structured by efforts to produce an object worthy of being collected. My also analyzes of how the anthology's book design interacts with the positions on materiality and collecting at play in its collected prose and poetry. This case study of the creator-intermediary as collector historicizes modern book collecting and appreciates African American bibliophiles as an alternative to the dominant white American and European book collecting traditions. Appreciating these distinctions suggests, ultimately, that a significant aspect of the exchange of economic and symbolic capital in the modern age was to mediate a contested present day by refashioning ideas about the past.
