<p>The basic principle for limited companies is that the owners are not liable for the debts of the company. To protect the creditors of the company, however, a theory of personal liability for the owners has evolved, the so called piercing the corporate veil theory. For decades there have been disagreements wether or not it would be motivated to legislate the theory of piercing the corporate veil, and what this legislation might look like. The basic problems in my essay are: Is there a need to legislate the theory of piercing the corporate veil in Sweden? What would such a legislation look like in Sweden? To answer these questions I analyzed cases regarding the piercing the corporate veil theory, examined the theory in the USA and Germany and described how authors would like to answer these questions. My results are that there is a need to increase the liability that a parent company has for the debts of its subsidiary companies. This should be done by changing the rule in 15:3 ABL.</p>

Slöjan, ett måste? : En kvalitativ undersökning med lärare om deras syn på slöjan i undervisningen om religionen islam / The veil, is it a must? : A qualitative study with teachers about their views on the veil in teaching about IslamStolpe, Frida January 2012 (has links)
Det övergripande syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att inhämta forskningsbaserad fakta för att få fram varför den muslimska kvinnan använder slöjan. Avsikten har också varit att undersöka om lärare i årskurserna 4-6 pratar om slöjan i sin undervisning om islam och vad de anser om det. Respondenterna undervisar i tre olika skolor, i två olika kommuner, och två av dem arbetar även på samma skola. Genom en litteraturstudie och kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer med lärare i årskurserna 4-6 samlades kunskaper som gav ett lämpligt underlag för att kunna uppnå syftet med arbetet och kunna besvara mina angivna frågeställningar.I arbetet har jag utgått från dessa frågeställningar som behandlas genom arbetet: Varför bär kvinnor inom islam slöja? Går lärare i årskurs 4-6 igenom den muslimska kvinnans slöja när de undervisar om islam i skolan, och i så fall hur? Frågorna ligger som grund till arbetet och besvaras fortlöpande i arbetets intervjustudie samt forskningsstudie för att sedan knytas samman i diskussionen där jag också utverderar hur jag lyckats uppfylla dem. En slutsats som jag kommit fram till är att man i tre fall av fyra tar upp slöjan i sin undervisning om islam och att samtliga lärare anser det viktigt att belysa slöjan. Jag har även genom arbetet tagit lärdom av att det finns olika orsaker till varför den muslimska kvinnan bär slöja bland annat kan det bero på att det står i Koranen, men även att man genom att dölja sin hud samt håret undviker att locka fram en sexuell lust hos männen. / The overall aim of this study was to obtain research based facts to bring out why the Muslim women are wearing a veil. The intention has also been to examine whether teachers in grade 4-6 talk about the veil in their teaching in Islam and what they think of it. The respondents’ are teachers in three different schools two different town districts and two of them also work at the same school. Through literature studies and qualities research interviews with teachers in grade 4-6 gathered knowledge that gave a good basis to answer my questions listed.In the work, I have assumed these issues addressed by the work: Why are Muslim women wearing a veil? Do teachers in grade 4-6 go through the veil of the Muslim women in their teaching, if so, how? These questions are the basis for this essay and are answered in the continuous work interview and research study and are bound together in the discussion where I evaluate how I manage to answer them. One conclusion that I have came up with is that in three cases out of four teachers talk about the veil in their teaching about Islam and all the teachers do also feel it is important to illustrate the veil. I have also through the essay learned that there are various reasons why the Muslim women are wearing a veil; it may be because it is in the Koran, but also by hiding their skin and hair avoids bringing a sexual desire in men.

This thesis consists of several independent papers in population ethics. I begin in Chapter 1 by critiquing some well-known 'impossibility theorems', which purport to show there can be no intuitively satisfactory population axiology. I identify axiological vagueness as a promising way to escape or at least mitigate the effects of these theorems. In particular, in Chapter 2, I argue that certain of the impossibility theorems have little more dialectical force than sorites arguments do. From these negative arguments I move to positive ones. In Chapter 3, I justify the use of a 'veil of ignorance', starting from three more basic normative principles. This leads to positive arguments for various kinds of utilitarianism - the best such arguments I know. But in general the implications of the veil depend on how one answers what I call 'the risky existential question': what is the value to an individual of a chance of non-existence? I chart out the main options, and raise some puzzles for non-comparativism, the view that life is incomparable to non-existence. Finally, in Chapter 4, I consider the consequences for population ethics of the idea that what is normatively relevant is not personal identity, but a degreed relation of psychological connectedness. In particular, I pursue a strategy based in population ethics for understanding the controversial 'time-relative interests' account of the badness of death.

Lifting the Veils in William Somerset Maugham's The Painted VeilSjöberg, Viktoria January 2008 (has links)
Novels with love as a theme often deal with a passionate or forbidden love. In 1925 William Somerset Maugham wrote a different version of the typical love story we have read so many times. It tells a story about a married couple who never really shares the same love for each other. Maugham mentions that he was inspired by Dante when he wrote The Painted Veil. Indeed, he uses different sources of inspirations, such as poems from Shelley and Goldsmith. The aim of this essay is to investigate what these intertextual references bring to the novel and what their functions are. The method I use is looking at the different references used by Maugham and stating their purpose and significance to the novel. The result of my investigation illustrates how the use of Shelley’s theme of veiling signifies hiding, as well as not wanting to see the truth, while Goldsmith’s poem shows the true relationship between the married couple and how corrupted society is. Maugham also lets Dante’s Purgatorio demonstrate how Kitty, the wife, gets the chance to change her life for the better.

Extending the fatigue life of a T-joint in a composite wind turbine bladeHajdaei, Amirhossein January 2014 (has links)
Wind turbines are classic examples of structures where their operating lifetime is controlled by the fatigue properties of the material. This is exacerbated by the 2D nature of the composite materials used in blade construction which are typically fabrics in a variety of formats (e.g. non crimp fabrics, uniweave, woven). The formation of internal detailed shapes within the blade, allowing features such as spars, shear webs and other connections, inevitably requires these 2D material configurations to be formed into 3D shapes. This introduces positions within the structure where load transfer occurs across regions with no fibre reinforcement. These weak areas become natural positions for the initiation of damage that can occur well before fatigue damage would be expected in the basic material subject to simple in-plane loading. The aim of this study is to modify and improve the blade structure in order to extend its working life and minimize geometry related fatigue issues. To achieve this goal T-sections have been manufactured as representative element of the blade's spar. T-sections have been made of carbon or glass fabric infused with epoxy resin using a vacuum-assisted resin-transfer moulding technique. The structure has been modified with different toughening techniques to increase its interlaminar fracture resistance (toughness) and hence delay or stop crack propagation. Methods such as the use of veil layers, tufting and 3D weaving techniques have been employed to improve the interlaminar fracture toughness of the T-joint. The changing parameters in samples are, the addition of the veil layer to the composite structure, veil material, tufting stitches and use of different 3D fibre weaving architectures in the fabrication of the composite T-joint. For T-joint testing, there was no standardised specimen shapes and no standard for specimen dimensions; as well as no test fixture designs or test procedures. Consequently, it was required to design a test rig and develop a test procedure for tensile and fatigue tests of T-joints. An additional investigation was performed to establish test specimen geometry suitable for testing in available Instron machines. Manufactured specimens were quasi-static and fatigue tested. Test results were compared and showed that 3D woven and polyester veil T-joints had the best performance among modified structures. However, it has been found that these structural modifications are performing differently in quasi-static and fatigue loading. The 3D woven four layer to layer inter wave sample that showed the best result in a quasi-static test was not the one with the best fatigue results but it was amongst the ones with the highest performance. SEM and optical microscopy were used to investigate fractured specimens in an attempt to establish the mechanisms involved in the fracture process of the T-joint. Finally, based on test and investigations results it has been concluded that the 3D weaving was the most effective modification to improve the static and fatigue properties of the T-joint. The T-joint modified with polyester veil showed the second best performance in both static and fatigue tests but the addition of the polyamide caused had negative effects on these properties.

This diploma thesis deals with the veiling issue in Turkey. The first theoretical part is trying to map out the issues with an emphasis on the diverse interpretations and perceptions of the scarf / hijab. The work perceives the scarf as a symbol which represents more than just the Islamic religion. These multiple interpretations were caused primarily by the historical development of the country, especially the specific modernization process of Turkey which has been linked to the process of westernization. Mainly because of this the headscarf was for many years regarded as something obsolete, unfashionable. Many people perceived the scarf as something that does not belong in modern Turkey. This situation had affect the veilling issue a lot. Women were prohibited by law to wear a scarf in public areas. For this reason the work shows this issue also in the historical context which goes back to the 19th century - to the Ottoman Empire. The second part comprises the empirical part is devoted to qualitative research. For the purpose of this work interviews with Turkish university students were carried out which focused on their motivation of covering or not covering and other phenomena associated with this topic.
