The aim of the master’s work is elaborated complex project documentation for new multi-purpose house in Staré Město pod Sněžníkem. The building combines retail stores with space for housing. Custom text labor is completed by annexes, which consists of drawing documentation, building alternative solutions, static calculations, fire safety and technology of the building. The subject of specialization is solving the water supply and assessment of reinforced concrete girder. The project is designed by using Allplan 2009, Scia Engineer 2009, Stavební fyzika and MS Office 2009 and is engaged in the design, construction and technical layout solution with respect to architectural page and possible savings operation of the buildings in relation to sustainable construction.

Next chapter is focused on indoor microclimate and it’s affecting factors. Last but not least are mentioned environmental and financial aspects of these adjustments. Final part shows examined buildings, simulation configurations and output evaluations.

This master’s thesis deals with the diagnosis of thermal environment using synthetic skin type sensors. The synthetic skin type sensor is a compact sensor ideal for simulating human skin. The aim is to design and implement such a sensor and test its properties. On the market there are no compact sensors with that kind of abilities and our goal is to design the cheapest, but still viable sensor. Measurement and data processing is implemented using measurement cards and LabVIEW software. The work also contains a design of signal conditioning without the use of measurement cards.

Studium pasivní radiace povrchových úprav ve stavebnictví / The study of passive radiation finishes in construction

One of the key issues of our society is to decrease energy demand. About 40 % of energy consumption in Europe is related to building operation, mostly for heating. The required thermal comfort is related mainly to temperature of air and temperature of surrounding surfaces. Especially in older buildings with low level of thermal insulation the inner surface of perimeter wall can be several degrees colder than air. In such case the perception of thermal comfort will be lowered also depending on the layout of the room. Other issue can be related to thermal radiation asymmetry. The amount of energy that is eradiated from a surface is driven by material property called emissivity. A surface with sufficiently low emissivity will became “thermal mirror”. It is possible to elaborate about intelligent thermal management of the internal space with usage of low-emissive surfaces; where thermal radiation can be suppressed or can be enhanced. This depends on the surface emissivity and its real temperature. Recently, growing interest about the low-emissive surfaces can be seen. They can represent reasonable complement to conventional insulation, but they have certain limits. Potentially, even higher energy savings can be reached with so called retro reflection. If the thermal radiation of an object is reflected back, its thermal loss will be lower. In such case it can be expected that equivalent thermal comfort can be reached even with lower overall temperature of the room. The aim of the work is study of material combinations with potential for utilization as low-emissive interior surfaces. Research has been conducted on low-emissive paints and low-emissive foils. Another part of the work is related to retro reflection of thermal radiation as a potential way to influence thermal comfort. The work shows, that energy saving up to 20% can be obtained.

In this thesis, there is processed design of test procedure for innovative HVAC system. This design was created in consecutive phases with use of thermal manikin Newton and climate chamber. Correlation between data from thermal manikin and tests subjects and possible design changes were evaluated after each phase. There are mentioned basics of human thermoregulation, factors which affect thermal comfort and ways in which is possible to measure and rate it with use of thermal comfort scales and comfort zones diagram. The thesis includes survey for testing thermal comfort and scales which are used to complete it. In the end, we mentioned some results alongside with our approach in evaluation of correlation between thermal manikin and test. There is also final design of test procedure for innovative HVAC system which would be used for its calibration and final functionality testing.

Evaluation of Thermal Comfort and Night Ventilation in a Historic Office Building in Nordic Climate

Envelopes with low thermal performance are common characteristics in European historic buildings resulting in insufficient thermal comfort and higher energy use compared to modern buildings. There are different types of applications for the European historic buildings such as historic churches, historic museums, historic theatres, etc. In historic buildings refurbished to offices, it is vital to improve thermal comfort for the staff. Improving thermal comfort should not increase, preferably reduce, energy use in the building. The overall aim in this research is to explore how to improve thermal comfort in historic buildings without increasing, preferably reducing, energy use with the application of non-intrusive methods. This is done in form of a case study in Sweden. Thermal comfort issues in the case study building are determined through a field study. The methods include field measurements with thermal comfort equipment, data logging on BMS, and evaluating the occupant’s perception of a summer and a winter period indoor environment using a standardized questionnaire. According to questionnaire and thermal comfort measurements results, it is revealed that the summer period has the most dissatisfied occupants, while winter thermal comfort is satisfactory – but not exceptionally good. Accordingly, natural heat sinks could be used in form of NV, as a non/intrusive method, in order to improve thermal comfort in the building. For the historic building equipped with mechanical ventilation, NV strategy has the potential to both improve thermal comfort and reduce the total electricity use for cooling (i.e. electricity use in the cooling machine + the electricity use in the ventilation unit’s fans). It could decrease the percentage of exceedance hours in offices by up to 33% and reduce the total electricity use for cooling by up to 40%. The optimal (maximum) NV rate (i.e. the potential of NV strategy) is dependent on the thermal mass capacity of the building, the available NV cooling potential (dependent on the ambient air temperature), COP value of the cooling machine, the SFP model of the fans (low SFP value for high NV rate is optimal), and the offices’ door scheme (open or closed doors).

NANDRAD 1.4 building simulation model

NANDRAD is a dynamic building energy simulation program. It calulates heating/cooling requirements and electric power consumption with respect to realistic climatic conditions and dynamic room usage. The model includes one-dimensional spatially resolved heat transport through multi-layered walls and thermal storage of solid components (room furniture/building walls). Consequently, massive constructions forms in the European area are very well represented. Further, NANDRAD calculates geometrical long radiation heat exchange inside the room. Heating systems may be modeled with a high level of geometrical detail, i.e. surface heating systems as part of the wall constructions and radiant heaters inside the room. NANDRAD can be applied for passive building simulation, energy optimization and thermal comfort analysis with respect to a very detailed building representation. U Novom Sadu se javlja tzv. &bdquo;urbano&nbsp; ostrvo suvoće&ldquo; noću tokom toplotnog talasa kada je zbijena srednjegradnja (LKZ 2)&nbsp; okarakterisana sa maksimalnim deficitom vlažnosti od oko&nbsp; 33%&nbsp; u&nbsp; odnosu&nbsp; na&nbsp; prirodnu&nbsp; LKZ&nbsp; A&nbsp; izvan&nbsp; grada.&nbsp; Statistička&nbsp; analiza&nbsp; vrednosti izračunatih&nbsp; bioklimatskih&nbsp; indeksa&nbsp; PET&nbsp; i&nbsp; UTCI&nbsp; je&nbsp; ukazala&nbsp; da&nbsp; se&nbsp; LKZ&nbsp; razlikuju&nbsp; u&nbsp; uslovima&nbsp; spoljnjeg&nbsp; termalnog&nbsp; komfora&nbsp; čoveka&nbsp; na&nbsp; godišnjem,&nbsp; sezonskom&nbsp; i&nbsp; mesečnom nivou,&nbsp; kao&nbsp; i&nbsp; tokom&nbsp; toplotnog&nbsp; i&nbsp; hladnog&nbsp; talasa&nbsp; (do&nbsp; maksimalnih&nbsp; 8-9&nbsp; &deg;C).&nbsp; Takođe&nbsp; su rezultati ukazali&nbsp; da je klasifikacioni sistem&nbsp; LKZ adekvatan za inter-urbanu analizu gradske klime (poređenja između gradova).</p> / <p>The&nbsp; topic&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; doctoral&nbsp; dissertation&nbsp; is&nbsp; the&nbsp; application&nbsp; and&nbsp; assessment&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; classification system of local climate zones (LCZ) using the automated model and bioclimatic analysis on the example of Novi Sad (Serbia). The developed GIS model proved to be adequate for&nbsp; mapping and defining LCZs&nbsp; in Novi Sad and its surroundings by&nbsp; delineating&nbsp; 13 LCZs&nbsp; using 7 parameters of the city surface. In addition, in the&nbsp; framework of the dissertation, is&nbsp; developed new&nbsp; model for cleaning the database. The&nbsp; obtained&nbsp; results&nbsp; indicated&nbsp; that&nbsp; the&nbsp; most&nbsp; pronounced&nbsp; differences&nbsp; in&nbsp; mean&nbsp; air temperature (T<sub>sr</sub>) occur between LCZs at night during a heat wave and are up to 5.5 &deg; C (LCZ<sub>2-A</sub>, the difference between urban compact midrise and dense forests). At annual level, the difference in&nbsp; T<sub>sr</sub>&nbsp; is 1.7 &deg;C between the city and the&nbsp; natural environment, and 0.7 &deg;C within different city LCZs. Statistical analysis of mean maximum and absolute maximum air temperatures at&nbsp; annual, seasonal and monthly levels did not show significant differences between&nbsp; LCZs. The frequency of occurrence of temperature indexes indicated that the so-called &quot;cold indices&quot; (cold days, ice days) indicate the temperature specificity of&nbsp; LCZs&nbsp; in Novi&nbsp; Sad, while this is not evident from the&nbsp; analysis&nbsp; of&nbsp; so-called&nbsp; &quot;warm&nbsp; indices&quot;&nbsp; (summer&nbsp; days,&nbsp; tropical&nbsp; days),&nbsp; except&nbsp; for&nbsp; tropical nights.&nbsp; By&nbsp; analyzing&nbsp; the&nbsp; relative&nbsp; humidity&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; air&nbsp; it&nbsp; was&nbsp; noticed&nbsp; that&nbsp; there&nbsp; are&nbsp; significant differences between the built-up&nbsp; and natural&nbsp; LCZs, while this is not the case between built-up LCZs. In Novi Sad there is&nbsp; recognized so-called&nbsp; &quot;Urban dryness&nbsp; island&quot; at night during a heat wave period&nbsp; when a compact midrise LCZ 2&nbsp; is characterized with a maximum humidity deficit of about&nbsp; 33% compared to the natural&nbsp; LCZ&nbsp; A outside the city. Statistical analysis of the values of calculated bioclimatic indexes&nbsp; PET and UTCI indicated that&nbsp; LCZs&nbsp; differ in the conditions of the&nbsp; outdoor&nbsp; thermal&nbsp; comfort&nbsp; of&nbsp; population&nbsp; at&nbsp; annual,&nbsp; seasonal&nbsp; and&nbsp; monthly&nbsp; levels&nbsp; as&nbsp; well&nbsp; as during heat and cold waves (up to a maximum of 8-9 &deg; C differences). The results also indicated<br />that&nbsp; the&nbsp; LCZ&nbsp; classification&nbsp; system&nbsp; is&nbsp; adequate&nbsp; for&nbsp; inter-urban&nbsp; analysis&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; city&nbsp; climate (comparsions between cities).</p>

Propiedades del mortero utilizando caucho pulverizado de neumáticos

Existe una gran cantidad de neumáticos desechados cada año, debido al aumento descontrolado del parque automotor. Por lo tanto, el reciclaje y el reutilizo de neumáticos de caucho se convierte cada vez más en una obligación y es por ello que se propone una posible solución utilizando el caucho como reemplazo del agregado fino en construcción. El objetivo de esta investigación fue estudiar las propiedades del mortero con caucho en remplazo del agregado fino en porcentajes de 10%, 20% y 30% tomando como modelo un mortero tradicional. Los ensayos realizados fueron el de conductividad térmica y de resistencia a la compresión, la cual se midió a los 7 y 14 días. Los resultados del ensayo de transmisibilidad térmica indicaron que el mortero con caucho en reemplazo parcial del agregado fino presenta un buen comportamiento como aislante térmico y que a mayor porcentaje de caucho se tiene una menor transmisibilidad térmica a través de los muros. Por otro lado, los resultados del ensayo de resistencia a compresión muestran que el mortero que contiene caucho tiene una menor resistencia que un mortero tradicional, sin embargo, puede ser utilizado para revestimiento de muros y elementos estructurales. / There is many discarded tires every year, due to the uncontrolled increase in the vehicle fleet. Therefore, the recycling and reuse of rubber tires is becoming more and more an obligation and that is why a possible solution is proposed using rubber as a replacement for fine aggregate in construction. The objective of this research was to study the properties of the mortar with rubber to replace the fine aggregate in percentages of 10%, 20% and 30%, taking a traditional mortar as a model. The tests carried out were the thermal conductivity and resistance to compression, which was measured at 7 and 14 days. The results of the thermal transmissibility test indicated that the mortar with rubber in partial replacement of the fine aggregate shows good behavior as a thermal insulator and that the higher the percentage of rubber, the lower the thermal transmissibility through the walls. On the other hand, the results of the compressive strength test show that the rubber-containing mortar has a lower resistance than a traditional mortar, however, it can be used for cladding walls and structural elements. / Trabajo de investigación

Samtidigt som debatten kring jordens klimatförändring är i full gång har intresset för att miljöcertifiera byggnader vuxit oerhört. För fastighetsägare är det en möjlighet att bevisa för sina hyresgäster och köpare att byggnaden är hållbar. Är en byggnad miljöcertifierad har en oberoende part intygat att den uppfyller en nivå av hållbarhet som bestäms utifrån standardiserade kriterier. Fastighetsägaren kan alltså använda certifikatet i marknadsföringssyfte. Den här studien undersökte om en byggnad som är byggnadsminnesförklarad kan miljöcertifieras med Miljöbyggnad. Målet var att hitta kostnadseffektiva lösningar för att uppfylla de miljöcertifieringskriterier som eventuellt inte uppfylls idag. Miljöbyggnad har i dagsläget inga specifika kriterier för kulturhistoriskt värdefulla byggnader, så bedömningen har skett mot de allmänna kriterierna. Vid certifiering med Miljöbyggnad sker en granskning utifrån energi-, inomhusmiljö- och materialrelaterade kriterier. Verktyget mäter alltså inte bara byggnadens hållbarhet i fråga om växthusgasutsläpp utan även i hänseende till hälsan och välbefinnandet hos personerna som vistas i byggnaden. Byggnaden som har utvärderats är Kungliga Tekniska Högskolans studenters kårhus. Den byggnadsminnesförklarades 2012 på grund av sin utpräglade och välbevarade funktionalistiska utformning. Byggd 1930 uppfördes den mitt under en brytningstid när funktionalismen var på intåg i Sverige. I studien har alla kriterier som krävs för en miljöcertifiering gåtts igenom och stämts av mot hur byggnaden ligger till idag. Särskild fokus har lagts på Miljöbyggnads energirelaterade kriterier. För att minska energianvändningen har energieffektiviseringsåtgärder tagits fram som ger en besparing på hundratusentals kronor per år. Energieffektiviseringsåtgärderna består av bättre drift av ventilationen samt byte till effektivare belysning. Energiberäkningsprogrammet DesignBuilder har använts för att utvärdera energieffektiviseringsåtgärderna samt för att simulera termisk komfort och dagsljusinsläpp. Energikällornas hållbarhet vid olika miljöval på elhandelsavtalet och om det finns möjlighet att installera solskydd för fönstren har också undersökts. Hindret för en certifiering är att byggnaden åtminstone behöver uppfylla myndighetskrav på tillgång till dagsljus. Det finns också osäkerheter som har att göra med om energieffektiviseringsåtgärderna minskar energianvändningen så mycket som krävs för en certifiering. För övrigt finns goda förutsättningar för en miljöcertifiering. / Climate change is widely discussed these days, and the interest in environmental assessment for buildings has increased enormously. For landlords and house-owners, it brings the possibility to prove to their tenants and customers that their buildings are sustainable. A building with an environmental assessment certificate is assured by an independent inspector to fulfill a certain level of sustainability that is specified by standardized criteria. The landlords can subsequently use the certificate for advertising. This study investigated if a listed historic building can be certified according to the Swedish environmental assessment method Miljöbyggnad. The objective was to find cost effective ways to meet those criteria for environmental assessment that are not fulfilled today. Miljöbyggnad has no specific set of criteria for historical buildings today, so the investigation has been performed using the general criteria. For a certification with Miljöbyggnad, an audit from energy, indoor environment and material point of view is performed. Thus, the assessment method does not only measure sustainability regarding greenhouse gas emissions, but also concerning well-being of the occupants of the building. The examined building is the student union house of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The building was listed in 2012 due to its pronounced and well preserved functionalistic design. Built 1930, it was raised during the time when the functionalism was introduced in Sweden. In the study, all criteria for the environmental assessment have been evaluated for the current situation of the building. The energy related criteria has been emphasized. In order to decrease the energy use, measures for improving the energy efficiency has been found, that will save several hundred thousand SEK per year. The measures consist of improved operation of the ventilation system and retrofitted lighting for better efficacy. The energy calculation program DesignBuilder has been used to evaluate the energy efficiency measures and to simulate thermal comfort and daylighting. The sustainability of the energy sources for different environmental options for the electricity contract and the possibility of installing shadings for the windows have been investigated as well. The main difficulty for a certification is that the building has to fulfill building codes for daylighting. There are also uncertainties regarding the energy efficiency measures being able to decrease the energy use sufficiently for a certification. Other than that, the prospects are good for a certification.
