One of the biggest challenges faced by the water utilities in the urban areas is to provide a quality service regarding aspects such as infrastructure, operation, network maintenance, quality of delivered water, users’ satisfaction etc. As the users pay more attention and stand for their rights more and more, the water utilities tend to make use of more strict criteria to guarantee that the service fulfills the minimum standards stablished by the current legislation. In order to cooperate for an improvement in the supply service offered to the population, this study suggests the development of a performance index for the water supply service in the city of Campina Grande – Paraíba (IDSA-CG). To achieve this, 22 indicators were studied and divided into five categories: operational, economic/financial, quality, infrastructural and human resources. Among the selected indicators to this study, there is one called user’s satisfaction, which was created based on a survey, in all neighborhoods of the city, to know the population’s perspective about the service provided by the water utility and, thus, being incorporated to the other indicators in order to form, as faithfully as possible, the IDSA-CG. The results related to the individual study of the indicators showed that the infrastructural indicators (network extension and coverage) and the water quality indicator (incidence of chlorine, turbidity and total coliforms, as well as conformity with sample quantity) obtained optimum values, close or equal the superior limits defined in the research. The main service drawbacks are associated to the operational indicators (losses in the distribution, macro measurement, average water consumption and energy consumption), with a need to improve the system operation, and also to the economic/financial indicators (average water charges, income evasion and electricity expenses), with a more efficient demand to trace clandestine water connections and to monitor the users in debt. Regarding the human resources indicators, the most divergent outcome compared to the expected result refers to the total employee productivity, which indicated a number of employees per water connections below the Brazilian average. The satisfaction indicator obtained a result of 45,44%, which means that the user is fairly satisfied with the service offered by the water utility in the city. Finally, based on the selected indicators, it was possible to calculate the IDSA-CG and the service currently available to the city of Campina Grande can be classified as REGULAR, with the need to introduce structural and administrative measures in order to perform a better system management.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to describe and analyse the factors that contribute to the successful ERP system implementation, the stakeholders of ERP system and how these stakeholders are related to CSFs of ERP system implementation. Design/ methodology/ approach: The research methodology approach chosen for this research is based on reality and clear research which includes qualitative and quantitative method for collecting and analysing data. Data for this research consists of secondary data, gathered by conducting a critical literature review of research papers published by journals, magazines and books.  The content analysis and comparative study methods are used to analyse data. Findings: Seventeen CSFs that are considered to contribute to ERP implementation success have been identified in accordance with their prioritization where twelve of them have been described; by analyzing some widely accepted in prior researches. Three stakeholders of ERP such as “Top management, IT professionals and End-users” have been identified and their involvement in the ERP implementation has been described. The result revealed that several CSFs of ERP such as “user training and involvement, ERP teamwork and selection of ERP are directly related to End-users”. The findings also revealed that Top management are related to majority of CSFs such as “top management support and commitment, change management, business plan and vision, system quality, project management, effective communication plan, selection of ERP, monitoring and focused performance evaluation, project champion, and business and IT infrastructure”. The result from analysis also showed a correlation between IT professionals and several CSFs such as “selection of ERP, system quality, user training and involvement, post-implementation evaluation, business plan and vision, change management, ERP teamwork, effective communication plan, and business and IT infrastructure”.

Bouraoui, Dhouha 01 1900 (has links)
Construction projects are temporary endeavors with a defined beginning and end, conducted by a temporary and multi-disciplinary team called a Temporary Multi-Organization (TMO). In the hostile environment of post-disaster reconstruction, participants of the TMO must confront high levels of uncertainty which increases project risks. The non-acceptability of project outcomes is one of the most frequent risks reported in literature (UNDRO, 1982; Barenstein, 2008; Dikmen, 2006). Acceptability is related with users’ satisfaction. However, according to the theory of bounded rationality, actors of the TMO - confronted with limited information and resources - cannot achieve an optimal solution. Instead, both project actors and end-users accept a «satisficing» [SIC] solution (Simon, 2004). This study hypothesizes that two organizational factors have an important influence on user satisfaction in post-disaster housing projects: (i) centralized decision making (coupled with lack of information); and (ii) the capacity of the structure of the Temporary Multi-Organization (TMO) to take into account the active participation of users in project planning, management, financing and design. A case study of a post-disaster housing project in the Maghreb region helps us validate this hypothesis. Building up on this hypothesis, indicators of technology transfer (as proposed by the Logical Framework Analysis) serve as a basis to assess users’ satisfaction. The research does not establish a cause-effect relationship between the two variables of the study. However, the analysis of the structure of the TMO and users’ satisfaction highlight several principles, related with the project initiation and management, that can be implemented to improve reconstruction practices in developing countries.

Contribution à l’évaluation du système d’information bancaire / Contribution of evaluating bank information system

Michel, Sylvie 12 December 2011 (has links)
This research focuses on evaluating the banks’ front office information system (IS). By using asociotechnical analysis frame, we wished to identify the variables and the links that have to be taken intoaccount in order to evaluate the perceived IS success among users. The main proposal is that this perceivedsuccess depends on characteristics which are both technical and social ones. At the same time, we wereconvinced by the bank specificities, rules and competition evolution, that an evaluation, peculiar to the fieldof the banks, is necessary. This is why this research uses at the same time a qualitative approach, to identifythe specific variables in the bank world, and a quantitative approach based on hypothesis and deduction. We finally propose a model showing eight variables (the qualities of the training, the system, the service, theinformation, the use, the satisfaction, the middle managers’ support, the net profit) which enlight the wayleading to the success of bank IS. Both users’ participation to a IS step of a project and the surveyed people’ssociodemographic characteristics were analysed. This model both provides a theoretical and managerialaspect, since the banks now have a tool measuring the success of their Information System. This workemphasizes the weight of some variables and highlights some links specific to the banks field.
