Analyse, conception et commande de mécanismes de tenségrité et systèmes précontraints : application à l'assistance robotique dans l'IRM / Analysis, design and control of tensegrity mechanisms and prestressed systems

Boehler, Quentin 29 September 2016 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the design of robotic assistants for MRI-guided surgeries. This design is submitted to several constraints due to the MR-environment, such as compactness, lightness, or compatibility. Safety issues related to the patient within the scanner also restrict the choice of suitable robotic solutions. This thesis thus aims at evaluating the applicative potential of tensegrity mechanisms, and more generally prestressed systems, that exhibit numerous interesting properties for this context. In particular, their stiffness can be adjusted, which is opportune for the patient safety. The relevance of our approach is assessed through the analysis, the design and the control of these systems that are required to fulfil their evaluation. Our contributions include the development of numerical tools for their analysis, synthesis methods for the generation of suitable variable stiffness designs, and control strategies for the simultaneous control of their configuration and their stiffness.

Contribuição ao estudo das estruturas metálicas espaciais / Contribution to the study of space steel structures

Alex Sander Clemente de Souza 29 April 1998 (has links)
This work presents a study of space steel structures including the following aspects: history and development, types, advantages of three-dimensional system and structural behaviour. It is given special attention to the most common types of space trusses in Brazil, composed of tubular sections bars with flattened ends. The influence of the variable stiffness on each element\'s behaviour (compressive strength) and on the global structural behaviour has been studied with the use of finite elements. Various patent connection systems used in other countries and those commonly used in Brazil are described. Experimental and theoretical results of a 7,5 m-long by 7,5 m-wide space truss are presented. In the theoretical analysis, variable stiffness and effects of geometrical non-linearity have been considered. Still applying the above considerations, larger space truss models have been also analysed.

Esteveny, Laure 09 December 2014 (has links)
In the context of interventional radiology, robotic-assisted surgery limits practitioners’ exposure to radiations and brings more accuracy to perform complex interventions. However, the presence of robot in the environment is a potential danger for the patient and the medical staff in case of unexpected interactions and manipulations. In this PhD thesis, we first focus on safety problems. An intrinsically safe mechanism is proposed. The achieved prototype allows to follow both planned trajectories and moving environments.Secondly, a guidance mechanism based on a passive approach is suggested. With a variable stiffness system, using a compliant mechanism, a resistive force is applied to the user which allows him to be guided in his gesture.Based on medical needs, we then study the possibility to integrate and generalize such systems to multiple degrees of freedom.

Contribuição ao estudo das cúpulas treliçadas utilizando elementos tubulares em aço / Contribution to the study of braced domes with steel tubular elements

Vendrame, Adriano Márcio 25 March 1999 (has links)
This research presents a study about dome space structures about the following aspects: history, development, description of the more utilized types, behavior, analysis and some project and design aspects. It\'s emphasized the tubular element domes with circular section, particularly, those which need stamping at the end to wake the joint system. It\'s described many joint systems which are utilized in several countries and also in Brazil. The variable stiffness influence caused by the stamping on the bar ends was studied using the Finite Element Method by a suitable model of the affected region. The modeled region was inserted into a plane space truss and the analysis results were compared to the experimental values. It\'s also presented the basic procedures to dome project development, considering linear-static behavior. For the same model, a short study about failure downfall is presented.

Design And Development Of A Mechanically Adjustable Linear Torsion Spring Using Cams

Kilic, Mehmet 01 September 2009 (has links) (PDF)
Linear springs with variable stiffnesses find some key roles in robotic applications. They are implemented into robotic devices for two main reasons, to increase energy efficiency of walking-running robots and prosthesis, and to get safe human-robot interaction at industrial robots. Being inspired from the human actuation system, a mathematical method to get mechanically adjustable linear springs is noted in the literature / antagonistically working two quadratic springs method. But the proposed solution requires two non-linear springs with quadratic spring characteristics and they are not readily available. Several solutions have been noted in the literature for the acquisition of such non-linear springs. At this thesis work, the solution is realized with a string wrapping around cam mechanism. Two different prototypes were designed and constructed and the second one was physically tested to validate the linear spring behavior. The results displayed good linear spring characteristics with different levels of adjustable spring stiffness. Beside the antagonistically working two quadratic springs method, three novel methods to get mechanically adjustable linear springs are introduced at this thesis. They are based on using hanging weights, an exponential characteristic spring and a linear translation spring respectively. The real prototypes were not manufactured but sample designs using string wrapping around cam mechanisms are made.
