Examining Consumers' Perception and Attitude towards Different Product Settings Presented within Advertisements

Valenzuela, Christine January 2020 (has links)
Today, it has become increasingly challenging for firms to communicate with their target audiences, due to the amount of media noise present in the contemporary market. In this study, the author examines how consumers perceive different product settings that are presented within advertisements, and how this affects their attitude toward the ad, with hopes that it will lead to new insights on how the visual element of product setting can be enhanced to create messages that better connect and resonate with consumers in today’s overcrowded market. Using previous literature on Sensory Marketing, Advertising Perception, and Advertising Attitude as basis, a matrix that shows different combinations of product setting was generated, which allowed the author to examine how consumers perceive different typesof product settings. The findings suggest that consumers perceive product settings that aid mental imagery and ads with balanced complexity very positively in their evaluation of advertisements. Ad information, pleasure, and its ability to produce a mental imagery were all found to be keys in garnering positive attitude, and combining these three elements together in one ad has been shown to be the most effective in gathering the highest positive attitude towards the ad. The essay ends by discussing the theoretical and practical implications of these findings, and recommendations for future research.

Kan jag bli viral?

Larsson, Tom January 2014 (has links)
The integration of social media in today's society has largely contributed to the development of a more accessible and global world. Even if this evolution raises countless possibilities it also creates challenges, one of those is how to become positively distinguished in the increasingly competitive employment market. This study addresses this challenge by investigating how the new and popular social application Instagram can be used as a tool for personal branding. The findings, which are based on a combination of literature reviews, qualitatively oriented interviews and content analysis, concludes that Instagram can be used a personal branding tool. The recommended way to do this is by first clarify one's unique brandable attributes, values and goals by constructing a personal brand. This brand can then be communicated through Instagram by the use of a captivating strategy, which are evaluated and reviewed after some time. This in order to gradually develop the value offered so that the brand remains contemporary and competitive. To increase the chances of succeeding with the strategy, it should be authentic, clear, consistent and appealing for prospective employers. Findings also show that it is important to use e.g. hashtags and comments to create positive interactions and buzz around one's brand/Instagram account.

Sjödin, Jenny, Barazi, Ksenia January 2016 (has links)
Aim: Our aim with this study is to understand how small symbolic alterations affect the consumer's perception of the hyperreality that marketers are trying to portray on Instagram.  Method: In this study, a quantitative survey was carried out. Our empirical data were collected through a questionnaire and then analyzed in the statistical program SPSS. The program conducted a correlation analysis, factor analysis and a cluster analysis.  Result & Conclusion: The results show that small symbol alterations in a real estate ad affect consumers' perception of the hyperreality that marketers are trying to portray on Instagram. Of the symbols exterior, interior, trendy decor, natural light and green plants found in real estate ads are trendy decor the symbol that has the greatest impact on consumers' perception of the hyperreality presented. Our conclusion is that real estate agents and marketers, therefore, should primarily focus on residential image contains trendy decor.  Suggestions for further research: To carry out this study, using an eye scanner that measures what the eye is watching in a image that represents a real estate ad. This would provide a deeper understanding of the symbols that appear in a real estate ad that the eye is drawn to.  Contribution of the thesis: Today real estate ads posted by marketers on Instagram is very similar. Our study shows that it´s the small symbolic alterations that have an impact on the consumer's perception of the hyperreality presented.

Role sémiotiky vizuálního marketingu při budování značky / The Role of Visual Marketing Semiotics in Brand Building

Tesařová, Veronika January 2018 (has links)
The Diploma thesis is focused on marketing and semiotics and the use of these two fields combined. In the course of the thesis, we will deal with the analysis of single visual marketing modes and the overall impact on perception of the brand and also its ́ building by linking these elements. In the thesis, we will focus on the Gunter Kress ́ theory of multimodality and, in this context, we will focus on the contents of the Brand manual, which is the key to brand building. Attention will be paid to semiotic analysis of logos, utilization of images and photos, colors and fonts and other components important for creating a visual marketing strategy. In the empirical section, two similar brands will be introduced, on which the single modes will be demonstrated and analyzed. Although the two brands are similar to each other, one has a clearly recognizable brand identity, while the other brand is failing. Also, the second brand obviously does not follow the Brand manual. By analyzing and comparing the visual content of these two brands, we will be able to detect errors that may be critical to brand building and may have a negative impact on the perception of the potential clients with the result of brand extinction. In the result of the thesis, we should be able to confirm the importance of using...

The importance of brand identity on social media for micro and small publishers / Vikten av ett väldesignat varumärke på sociala medier för små bokförlag

Hvam, Frida January 2022 (has links)
In today’s world, using social media is part of many people’s daily routine. As many consumers exists on social media, the networks have become attractive marketing channels for brands around the world. To stand out in the crowd of companies and become more recognisable among consumers, brands can implement a consistent brand identity across their communication channels. This study examines the importance of brand identity for Swedish micro and small book publishers (MSPs) on social media, in order to find out how the use of brand identity on social media impacts their businesses. To accomplish this, four respondents from book publishing companies were interviewed to learn how developed their companies’ brand identities are, how they market their business on social media, and what they think is most important about brand identity and social media marketing. The results from this empirical research were then categorised according to qualitative content analysis. Through analysis, it was concluded that the companies themselves find brand identity important, but that they implement it differently. It was also concluded that the most important part of brand identity on social media is the companies’ tone of voice and brand personality, and that these parts steer the visual identity. So, in conclusion, brand identity is important for Swedish MSPs on social media, but it does not have to be fully developed to be effectful.

Henningsson, Mira, Kuczynska, Ewa January 2017 (has links)
Millennials are not as committed to charity as the generations before them. Millennials have also been proven very difficult to attract, which is problematic since Millennials are the future donors’ charity organizations must depend on. The purpose of this study is therefore to identify possible patterns, relationships and opportunities that would make Millennials donate to charity. The study presents the current situation of charity on the Swedish market, which follows by an introduction for how non-profit promote themselves and do their marketing. This leads to the research question: How should charity organizations promote themselves to get Millennials to become loyal? This study applies a qualitative research strategy. The primary data has been collected through semi-structured interviews with five representatives from five different charity organizations. All five organizations work with international projects.   The result shows that the five organizations have knowledge about how to market to attract and engage Millennials, but they do not apply this knowledge. The result presents four paradoxes. We consider that the perception of these paradoxes, as well as responding to them, determines the charity organizations outcomes and overall ability to attract Millennials. The result also shows that to engage with Millennials and create long-lasting relationships, charity organizations marketing must be innovative, cool, and creative with repetitive messages. Charity organizations also must use the communication channels that Millennials engage with. The result has given rise to the "Interactional Model for Targeting Millennials", which is built on 11 key factors that charity organizations must apply to establish, develop and maintain a relationship with Millennials.
