Analýza opotřebení nástrojů s břity z cermetů při soustružení / Analysis of Tool Wear with Cermet Cutting Edges During TurningKunkela, Ondřej January 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on comparison of cermet cutting materials, which are used to manufacture reamer cutting edges. It contains review of current market reamer tools and suppliers of cermet semi-finished products. Cermet cutting tips were used to machine parts from carbon steel and analysis was made to compare wearing of the tools from different suppliers. This test was conducted on turning machine in working conditions typical for reaming. During this test there were taken notes on the wear of the tools and surface roughness of the part. The output of this is work is data processing, which indicates durability of each tested cermet.

The influence of geotechnical properties on the performance of gravel wearing course materialsPaige-Green, Philip January 1989 (has links)
Unpaved roads comprise about 72 percent of the national and provincial
road network in South Africa and substantially more of the total
southern African road network. Significant costs are incurred annually
by the authorities on the maintenance of these roads and enormous sums
are associated with the cost of using these roads. Specifications for
the use of materials for unpaved roads in southern Africa abound, the
origin of most of these, however being rather obscure. It would appear
that many of them have been transferred from other countries, mostly
in the northern hemisphere.
The geological materials used for construction in southern Africa,
having been subjected to aeons of weathering and minimal major periods
of recent glaciation, differ greatly from those in the northern
hemisphere. One of the main objectives of this research was to
investigate the performance of local geological materials used in
wearing courses for unpaved roads and relate this to their
geotechnical properties. This involved the sampling, testing and
monitoring of 110 sections of unpaved road in the Transvaal and South
West Africa over a period of more than three years. A large data base
of gravel height, roughness, rut and corrugation measurements and the
severity and extent of dustiness, stoniness, potholes, cracks, loose
material, slipperiness and trafficability was compiled.
The material and performance data were then used to develop
performance related specifications and prediction models for roughness
progression and gravel loss with the aim of providing improved unpaved
roads and consequently reducing the road user and maintenance costs,
in the national interest. Some of the savings will obviously be
off-set to some extent by slightly increased materials location and
construction costs. These costs are, however, shown to be minimal in
comparison with the potential savings to the road user, the national
economy and the generally improved quality of life of many road users
in southern Africa. A good knowledge of the geotechnical properties of
potential wearing course materials (which are significantly dependent
on the geological origin) is necessary to differentiate good gravels
from poor ones.
hierdie paaie. Materiaalspesifikasies vir ongeplaveide paaie in
suidelike Afrika is volop.
hul Geotegniese eienskappe.
an swak gruise. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 1989. / Civil Engineering / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 1989. / Unrestricted

SOCIAL DISCOUNTING AND THE PROBABILITY OF MASK WEARINGReidner, Emma Catherine 01 August 2022 (has links)
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted nearly everyone around the world, and it has led to a unique opportunity to draw new conclusions regarding social behavior. During the international COVID-19 pandemic, many recommendations have been established as potential mitigations to prevent the spread of the virus, perhaps most controversial, mask wearing. The present study aimed to identify the extent to which the degree of social discounting correlates with lower probabilities of mask wearing in individuals. It was hypothesized that the greater the social discounting, the less likely subjects would be to wear masks and conversely, the lower the social discounting the more likely subjects would be to wear masks.

Deep ImpressionJönsson, Jennifer Annie Patricia January 2019 (has links)
The scope of this thesis is to reveal the hidden dimensions of fashion. With the aim to stress the worth of participation and the individual experience of fashion. This work is questioning what we see, and later what is actually there. Through a thorough investigation of the knit technique the relationship of loop and thread (pause and activity) is the focus of this paper. Enhancing the significant qualities of the knitted technique, where material and shape is born simultaneously, the result presented holds a variety of results. With the aim to discuss multiple dimensions this knit investigation is presented in a fashion context. Styled with technical sportswear this work is challenging knitwear -as well as sportswear. By clashing sports connotated materials with the knitted wool, both fields are expanded and new options and expression are presented. The motive of this investigation is to further state the worth of fashion. To create a space for the experience of fashion, stating the various result that is not depending on the presentation on body. This work questions the pre-set truths and conventions of what fashion could be, and our ability to judge what is presented for us.

Buffalo Boy's heart onStimson, Adrian Allan 21 December 2005
Buffalo Boys 100 years of wearing his heart on his sleeve is the sum of my experience at the University of Saskatchewan. It is an exploration of or coming to know my worldview. I have come to know that history is a construction, fragments of memory told through the bias of time, place and privilege.
Bison in the Bowl: This is Indian Land is a site of resistance. A layering of energy over matter through image projection over a colonizing space, the college building. I will place my family tipi in the bowl to honour the bison; the projected images will be of bison, buffalo boy and other contemporary aboriginal experiences. Through projection, I enlighten matter, a union of disparate histories that can be healed through the presence of an aboriginal healing device, the tipi. Happenings dependent on weather will occur September 21, 22 and 23.
Crow Chief Plenty Coups refused to speak of the years after the last wild bison herds were gone, saying, when the buffalo went away the hearts of my people fell to the ground, and they could not lift them again. After this nothing happened.
Nothing Happened: Old Sun represents the reconstruction of cultural icons through bison fragments, manufactured steel and a light from the Old Sun Residential School on the Blackfoot Reserve. Shadows of the past interrogate traditional and contemporary ideas. I believe that objects hold energy; this light that once shone above the heads of many children within the school is a witness to cultural genocide. Illumination of our histories can bring us out of the shadows and enlighten our being. Time is the Western paradox; it is to be played with. It is a container, a crypt that fragments real time image. It is a space of introspection and the cosmic dance. Bison Heart connects me to the heart of my art practice. In the context of my aboriginal experience, this painting can be romantic, iconic and political. I invite the viewer to move between the values to uncover their own meaning and relationship with the subject and self.
Gambling the Prairie Winnings is the construction of time through narrative, image and artifact. It is a serious and humorous view of how the west was dumb, it parodies the Western Development Museums centennial theme Winning the Prairie Gamble. The reinforcement of the colonial project occurs primarily through media, my intent is to subvert this medium.
Mission Impossible: Buffalo Boys Wild West Peep Show is an altar and a stage based on the first Blackfoot Mission church. It is a video projection where Buffalo Boy can dream of missions past, play in the present and vision the future.
This exhibition includes but is not limited to ideas within indigenous knowledge, meta/ quantum physics role in creating unity, the re-immergence of two-spirit peoples history, colonial or post -colonial critique, ecology, spirituality and healing modalities within the creative process. Through my art making I transcend the constructions of history, I heal myself for others to see, it is a new place from which to view the world.

Development of an Evidence-Based Practice Guideline for Prevention of Diaper DermatitisLim-Sulit, Nanita Flavier 01 January 2017 (has links)
Diaper dermatitis, an acute inflammatory reaction of the skin, is one of the most common forms of dermatitis among neonatal and pediatric patients. The problem addressed in this quality improvement project was the absence of an evidence-based practice (EBP) guideline for perineal care which resulted in 4 unexpected cases of diaper dermatitis per 100 hospital days at a non free standing children's hospital. Framed within Rosswurm and Larrabee's model for EBP, the purpose of this project was to develop an educational initiative encompassing an EBP guideline for perineal care, an educational curriculum plan for staff members, and a Power Point presentation to leadership on the educational initiative. A master's prepared pediatric nurse educator served as content expert to evaluate the educational curriculum plan using a dichotomous scale (not met = 1/met = 2) format for the 8 objectives. Each of the 8 items was scored a 2, meaning all objectives were covered in the curriculum. The expert recommended that the methods and procedures used should be placed in the employee orientation process. The educational initiative was presented to the leadership team (n = 11) who evaluated the project using a Likert-type scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). An average score of 5 was given, revealing that the objectives of the presentation were met. The leadership team recommended that the project be implemented. Positive social change may result from this DNP project by facilitating neonatal/pediatric skin integrity through evidence-based nursing care thus promoting patient well-being and prevention of hospital acquired infections.
