What-if analýza v nástroji CPM / What-if analysis in the CPM tool

Pokorný, Jiří January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with the management approach in performance management, today known world by the concept of Corporate Performance Management. CPM describes the relationship to Business Intelligence and methodologies, processes, metrics and technologies that together form the concept. There is also a description of CPM applications which cover the five most commonly deployed areas. The second part is devoted to what-if analysis that is one of several methodologies which are part of the CPM package. It also contains the list of competing tools that cover this area. The following hypothetical example of putting what-if analysis, aimed at resolving issues of fictitious company, related to costs, revenue and profit. Example is based on technology developed at IBM Cognos TM1. During the example solutions are presented with all the basic functionality that this technology offers.

Set-Based User Interaction

Terry, Michael Andrew 13 July 2005 (has links)
This work demonstrates specific ways that the design of computer user interfaces can influence how individuals structure the problem solving process. In particular, an observational study of expert users of an image manipulation application indicates that current user interfaces make it difficult to explore sets of alternatives in parallel, despite this being a common problem solving practice. As a consequence, individuals tend to engage in highly linear problem solving processes. To address this problem, this work introduces the concept of a set-based interface, or an interface that facilitates the generation, manipulation, evaluation, and management of sets of alternative solutions. The concepts of a set-based interface are demonstrated in two tools, Side Views and Parallel Pies, both designed for use in the domain of image manipulation. Side Views automatically generates sets of previews for one or more commands and their parameters, enabling side-by-side comparison of alternatives. Parallel Pies streamlines the process of forking, or the act of creating new, standalone alternatives, and provides a visualization to evaluate results. Two controlled laboratory studies and a third think-aloud study reveal that these tools lead to users more broadly exploring the solution space and developing more optimal solutions for some types of tasks. These studies also show that the ability to broadly explore can initially be overused, adversely affecting solution quality if not enough time is spent maturing a single solution instance. This enthusiastic use of exploration tools is especially notable because such features are entirely optional to developing a solution. As such, these results suggest the need to further research ways user interfaces can support individuals in rapidly generating sets of alternative solutions. To support future research in this direction, this work contributes a set of metrics for quantifying breadth and depth of exploration; backtracking; and dead-ends in the problem solving process. A visualization called a process diagram aids in communicating these concepts.

Posouzení rizika ve vybrané obci s rozšířenou působností s návrhem opatření na snížení ztrát a škod na veřejných aktivech / Risk Assessment in a Municipality with Extended Authority and a Proposal of Measures for Reducing Losses on Public Assets

Struhařová, Ivana January 2020 (has links)
Dissertation "Risk assessment in selected municipality with extended powers with precautions suggestion to eliminate losses and damages to public assets" deals with analyses and assessment of the current situation at the selected municipality with extended powers. Vision of the first part of the thesis is to analyse current status of the analysis issues and risk assessment on the territory of the municipality. The second part of the thesis contains methods to achieve the risk assessment, evaluation of the current threats in the municipality and will provide a draft measure for the targeted risk management.

Tillfälligheter / Coincidences

Hanzén, Mia January 2021 (has links)

Integrating planning support system applications in the planning decision-making process: an evaluation of the potential usefulness of the “what if?” software

Wang, Peiwen January 1900 (has links)
Master of Regional and Community Planning / Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Claude A. Keithley / Planning Support Systems allow planners to create alternative development scenarios to forecast a more accurate and precise future trend of development in their communities. The software What If?™ has been developed and introduced in the planning profession since its first release in the 1990’s. This report evaluates the software What If?™ based on the planning decision-making process. The report provides three aspects of evaluation: technical, empirical, and subjective. In addition, the paper will be also providing an overall understanding of the analytical capability of What If?™, and an overview of its operating procedures.

Aplikace Business Intelligence pro vyhodnocení cash flow organizace

Ekart, Radim January 2015 (has links)
The thesis deals with the design and implementation of Business Intelligence solution for evaluation of cash flow in organization. In the theoretical part, author introduces the reader with theoretical knowledge of Business Intelligence, cash flow and analysis of enterprise information system Helios Green. In the practical part is description of the design and implementation of data warehouse and ana-lytic database. In the part of implementation is explained strategic planning of cash flow, enabled using writeback to the data warehouse. Next chapter is about building financial reports. Thesis is finished by evaluating of the solution in terms of its benefits in comparison with the previous situation.

Generating What-If Scenarios for Time Series Data

Kegel, Lars, Hahmann, Martin, Lehner, Wolfgang 18 August 2022 (has links)
Time series data has become a ubiquitous and important data source in many application domains. Most companies and organizations strongly rely on this data for critical tasks like decision-making, planning, predictions, and analytics in general. While all these tasks generally focus on actual data representing organization and business processes, it is also desirable to apply them to alternative scenarios in order to prepare for developments that diverge from expectations or assess the robustness of current strategies. When it comes to the construction of such what-if scenarios, existing tools either focus on scalar data or they address highly specific scenarios. In this work, we propose a generally applicable and easy-to-use method for the generation of what-if scenarios on time series data. Our approach extracts descriptive features of a data set and allows the construction of an alternate version by means of filtering and modification of these features.

City and regional planning software in context : a rating framework for Planning Support Systems

Phelan, Chad Maclay 17 August 2010 (has links)
The difficulty of projecting ecological impacts, as well as the increasing familiarity of planners with Geographical Information Systems and other software technology has led to an increase in the use of Planning Support Systems (PSS) by city and regional planners. Due to their newness and rapid development, there is, of yet, a lack of a comprehensive peer-reviewed literature on the design and implementation of these systems. This thesis proposes and applies a rating framework for PSS in order to facilitate accessibility to and critical investigation of PSS. The rating framework’s criteria are based on the “seven sins” of comprehensive land use models identified by Douglass Lee’s 1973 article “Requiem for Large-Scale Models." / text
