Factors Influencing the morale of employees at the greater Tzaneen municipality

Matsaung, R.G. (Raesibe Granny) January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of the study was mainly to explore factors influencing the morale of employees at the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM). Morale is the psychological state of a person as expressed in self-confidence, enthusiasm, and/or loyalty to a cause or organisation and it flows from people's conviction about the righteousness or worth of their actions and the hopes of considerable rewards (material or otherwise) in the future. The study was conducted at the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Tzaneen Area in Limpopo. The investigation consisted of a literature review about morale in order to gain an understanding to answer the research question which is: What are factors influencing morale of employees at the GTM? The sample of the study comprised 103 employees at the GTM including, directors, managers, supervisors and first line level employees. The samples were drawn from the population of the GTM using stratified random sampling and the required number of respondents was further selected proportionally from each stratum using random sampling. Quantitative research was performed utilising a questionnaire as a data collection tool. A theoretical background on morale, Employee Assistance Programme and working conditions of employees was provided through a literature study. The empirical findings were gathered based on the information received from the respondents. The findings of the study were based on 97% of the questionnaires received and/or returned by the respondents. The findings were presented and analysed using tables, graphs, pie charts and also interpreted in words. The majority of the respondents who participated in the study, revealed that the expectation of receiving a desired reward contributes to high morale, with expected monetary rewards having a larger influence than non-monetary rewards, but praise for a job well done and a feeling of accomplishment were also indicated to contribute positively to employee morale. The results also revealed that there is a significant correlation between positive attitudes toward work and morale, and a positive correlation between performance management, commitment, leadership, employees’ salaries, compensation, training and development with employee morale. The demographic characteristics were shown not to have a discernable influence on workplace morale. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations and conclusions were made regarding strategies to be implemented by both management and employees to deal with morale in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. / Dissertation (MSW)--University of Pretoria, 2014. / lmchunu2014 / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

Hodnocení kvality simultánního tlumočení ze španělštiny do češtiny na příkladu autokorekce / Self-correction as an Indicator of Quality Assessment in Simultaneous Interpreting from Spanish into Czech

Bačkovská, Taťána January 2020 (has links)
This theoretical-empirical thesis deals with the quality assessment of simultaneous interpreters done by clients not familiar with the original speech, with special regard to self-correction. The aim of this thesis is to find out what effect self-correction has on listeners who are not familiar with the content of the original speech. At the same time, the thesis tries to shed light on the influence of stress on self-correction and it wants to reveal if being under stress leads to a lower level of self-correction, or if it stimulates the interpreters. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the simultaneous interpretation in general, working conditions of a simultaneous interpreter, self-correction and it shows some of the previous investigations in the field of quality assessment of simultaneous interpreting. Also, the thesis investigates various factors that influence simultaneous interpretation and it presents mistakes typology. The empirical part of the study describes the experiment with students interpreting simultaneously from Spanish into Czech and it presents the results obtained via questionnaire surveys.

Tängerstad, Louise, Källskog, Maria January 2014 (has links)

Poláková, Šárka January 2014 (has links)
The parent center is currently the phenomenon, which is compared with the "State" schools or more today to discuss "the children's group" devoted less attention. And, in particular, in the section that deals with the care of children without parents. Although the parent centers help solve one of the social and political problems, the Czech Republic- the lack of places in nursery schools, in crèches, they lack support. Legislative support, support the child care area in MC without the participation of the parents. In the Czech Republic currently operates a total of 427 MC and in the Liberec region, on which I focused in the empirical part, has 21 maternity center. Of these 21 parent service center to care for children without parental involvement provides a total of 14 maternity center. And the MC feels the need to legislative support, which would be welcomed by, clearer rules for the operation of the parent center, especially in the environment of a child without the participation of the parents. This support is important in all activities that MC. Maternity Center is not just about "meeting", but also on the promotion of intergenerational cohabitation, create facilities for families with children, and last but not least, active participation to facilitate the return of women and men back into the...

Makongoza, Azwihangwisi Abel January 2019 (has links)
Thesis (MPA.) -- University of Limpopo, 2019 / The aim of this study was to investigate the working conditions of social workers at Makhado Municipality in Limpopo Province by focusing on the provision of resources, supervision and caseload. The qualitative research approach was used face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were utilised as a data collecting method from participants. Purposive sampling was used as a sub-type of non-probability sampling. The study was conducted at Makhado Municipality in Vhembe District in Limpopo Province. Data was collected from social workers working under Makhado Municipality and analysed through thematic analysis. It was found that social workers are not provided with adequate resources to render quality social work services, and that lack of availability of transport and office space is a serious challenge. It was further found that social workers are working without enabling trade tools such as computers, printers, photocopying machines, fax machines and cell-phones. It was further found that social workers are not getting quality supervision, and supervisors are not taking supervision as seriously as it shall be. Moreover, it was found that social workers have high caseloads, which is negatively affecting service delivery. The study recommends that the Department of Social Development prioritise the provision of trade tools such as transport, computers, cell-phones, printers, photocopy machines and stationery. The study further recommends that the Department of Social Development employ more supervisors, social auxiliary workers and social workers to reduce high caseloads. Moreover, the study recommends that the Department of Social Development increase the infrastructure budget and ensure that it builds more offices for social workers.

The perceived work environment of first-line nurse managers : An Icelandic qualitative study of job stress and job satisfaction

Jakobsdóttir, Sólveig January 2022 (has links)
First-line nurse managers are very important to healthcare organizations. They are the ones who have the closest contact to employees and are responsible for on-the-floor management duties. Due to being in between upper management and employees they are responsible for numerous tasks both concerning administration but also the staff. They face high work demands on a daily basis and are, therefore, more susceptible to experience job stress and lower job satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to examine how first-line nurse managers perceive their work environment and how it influences job stress and job satisfaction. In this qualitative study, data was collected through semi-structured interviews. A total of eight Icelandic nurse managers were interviewed, so the data was analyzed from an Icelandic perspective. The interviews focus on exploring what work-related factors contribute to a higher stress-level, as well as what factors increase job satisfaction, and how the nurse managers are impacted by them. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, from which eight different themes emerged; ‘Shortage of staff’, ‘Lack of time’, ‘High workload’, ‘Formal power’, ‘Work-life interface’, ‘The importance of support’, ‘Fun work environment’, ‘Individual coping strategies’. These themes demonstrate different aspects of the work environment. The main findings show that the work environment of nurse managers is highly demanding and they face many challenges daily, and that these are the factors that have the most impact on job stress and job satisfaction.

Högblom, Debbie, Holm Mahmoudi, Emelie January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how first-line managers perceive their conditions to lead and distribute work in a public organization and how they perceive their support from HR. We saw a gap around the chosen purpose and wanted to investigate it further. The study was conducted using a qualitative method where interviews was carried out with seven first-line managers. The organization is large and located in central Sweden. After all interviews were completed, the results were compiled and analyzed in relation to previous research and other literature, to see if the collected empiricism was consistent with the theoretical framework. There are varying answers from the first-line managers, some feel that they have good conditions in their role, while others do not. When they were asked about expectations from HR, some responded that they experienced a lack of support and think there is a certain lack of competence, while others were satisfied with their support from HR and received answers quickly with good feedback. It also appears that the relationship between HR and the line managers is important, but there is a desire for more present HR support. Overall, we feel that the first-line managers are generally satisfied with their work situation today, but that there are suggestions for improvements.
