Furlanetti, Maria Renata Rotta, 1978- 25 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Nelson Filice de Barros / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Ciências Médicas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-25T13:55:54Z (GMT). This research aims to analyze the relationship between yoga practice and care in the convergence between the assumptions of Public Health with the senses of the yoga practice for practitioners/students and researcher/yoga teacher. We used data from 16 participants of Yoga and Health Promotion Program, offered by the Laboratory of Alternative, Complementary and Integrative Practices (LAPACIS), of Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM), of Campinas State University (UNICAMP), developed as a extension project for staff and students of FCM, from February to June 2013. Developed as a retrospective study with participatory intervention and triangulation of qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative data were collected through semi-structured questionnaire and were identified from participants information about their main symptom, activity interfered by the main symptom, welfare indices and their profile. Qualitative data were obtained from the production of a narrative by the research participants in response to two questions about expectations and results obtained from the intervention performed. The dataset was used to identify the extensiveness and intensity of the processes experienced by practicing yoga in the studied context and the final considerations were constructed from the triangulation of narratives and quantitative indices, pointing out the contributions of yoga practice for building care decolonization. The results show that eight participants claim to have improved, three remained with the same index and two worsened. In addition, 13 participants reported improved gradation of nuisance and the three that showed an increase in the degree of bother, changed general complaints, of great relevance to more specific complaints, of less importance. Participants showed greater understanding of life processes, including the health-disease-care process as well as greater autonomy in health professionals relationship. We conclude that the emancipatory character of care, developed by the proposed intervention, contributed to the autonomy of the practitioners in their trajectories, creating conditions for resistance to the medicalization, by the reflective capacity / Mestrado / Ciências Sociais em Saúde / Mestra em Saúde Coletiva

Vásquez Cortés, Simone Fabio January 2016 (has links)
Adscrito a Proyecto FIOUCH 13-012.

Métivier, Andrée-Ann January 2014 (has links)

Simard-Legault, Camille January 2017 (has links)

Mindfulness Training for Healthcare Professional Students: A Waitlist Controlled Pilot Study on Psychological and Work-Relevant Outcomes

Braun, Sarah 01 January 2019 (has links)
Burnout in healthcare professionals (HCPs) can negatively affect HCPs’ health and the overall functioning of the healthcare system. Of great concern is the negative effect of HCP burnout on psychological, cognitive, and work-relevant functioning. Mindfulness-based interventions have been shown to decrease burnout in HCPs and preliminary evidence suggests they may improve work-relevant outcomes. However, the literature is limited by methodological issues and generalizability concerns. The current pragmatic trial investigated feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of Mindfulness for Interdisciplinary Healthcare Professionals (MIHP) using a partially randomized, waitlist-controlled, crossover design [intention-to-treat sample: 22 in the mindfulness group (MG), 26 in the control group (CG)] on psychological, cognitive, and interprofessional measures. The present study also included an explanatory aim evaluating mindfulness practice time and practice quality as mediators of change. Within-group changes were assessed with the combined crossover data for mediation and three-month follow-up analyses. Finally, the present study explored the perceived effects of MIHP and how MIHP had its effects using a grounded theory approach. Results found mixed evidence for feasibility and acceptability. Small to large effects were found for the MG on outcomes of burnout, perceived stress, and mindfulness. These effects were present with groups combined and remained at the follow-up. No effect of MIHP was found on cognitive or interprofessional outcomes. Practice time and quality were not significant mediators of main effects. A grounded theory model is proposed for how MIHP may exert its positive effects within the context of healthcare.

Mount Tom Self-Transformation Retreat: Designing Experiential Architecture to Provoke Stimulatory, Expressive and Sensory Self-Exploration

Young, Kyle B 29 August 2014 (has links)
The environment evolved five human senses; through these receptors the majority of us experience life. Or do we? The a vast majority of our daily landscape resides enclosed, shut off from the exterior; separating people from the elements, organizing and distributing the multitude of functions that affect how we live and feel. The mental state of society is poor, the “daily dis-ease” of we wrestle with; stress, emotions, fatigue, exhaustion, disconnection suck the life out of the moments we live to barely even see. These interactions and experiences we encounter in, on, under and around the architectural forms we travel between are often so boring and ordinary we don’t even label them as experience. I challenge architecture can be more. The tangibles (senses) can be invigorated and spaces can be driven and designed by the senses, by the body and by the mind. The creation of unique experiences involves not only the measureable (light, smell, touch, taste & sound etc.) but also immeasurable effects on the body (memory, unity, serenity, etc.) The core of this project aims to cultivate an architecture that provides an array of nurturing and invigorating experiential and exploratory moments harmoniously placed throughout the natural landscape. Through this reintroduction to experience, the individuals attending the retreat will be engulfed in experiencing the moment and living each breath of sensation. For meditation is the existence in contemplation, relaxation and mental hygiene that provides the platform, the vessel for self-exploration and internal growth. Here the architecture becomes the marbles in the landscape, nestled into the site located in Mountain Park in Holyoke, Ma. “Come experience life, and energize your body and mind”
