Exploring the Influencing Factors on the Adoption of Robo-Advisors among Young Adults in SwedenMahmutovic, Amanda January 2024 (has links)
This study examines the influencing factors of robo-adoption among young adults in Sweden based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The objectives are also to examine what factors are influential based on the emotional intelligence of young adults and whether or not they possess a financial education. The study is conducted via a survey which was mainly distributed to students in business administration and economics at Linnaeus University during a six-week period. In total, 84 responses were collected, and 78 were used for further analysis via PLS-SEM. The results indicate that the perceived ease of use along with the perceived usefulness were the most influential factors of technology acceptance. The results also suggest that the human aspect of financial advisory is still important, however mitigated by the trust in the robo-advisor. This result was especially evident for individuals with higher emotional intelligence and no financial education. Lastly, the study concludes that the slow adoption rate of robo-advisors in Sweden could be attributable to the lack of capabilities of the robo-advisors on the Swedish market.

Square pegs in round holes: the mental health needs of young adults and how well these are met by services - an explorative studyIslam, Shahid January 2011 (has links)
Yes / Purpose
– This research paper aims to examine the mental health needs of young adults and to discuss how well these are met from the vantage‐point of the patients. Young adulthood is identified as an epidemiological risk for developing mental health problems and so the care provided during these developmental years is investigated to assess efficacy and experience.
Design/methodology/approach
– After interviewing 35 young adults, it was found most people are aware of the genesis to their problems and have strong views about the level of support and types of treatments offered.
Findings
– Like other writings, this research finds that many of the needs presented by young adults are unique to this transitional phase in life and administratively determined age structures on which current mental health care is configured do not adequately meet these needs.
Research limitations/implications
– The small sample size (35) and the geographical region covered means caution should be exercised in drawing any generalisations. Further research on outcomes after the mid‐20s by reflecting on service experience during the 18‐25 transformational years would be a useful area for exploration.
Practical implications
– This paper makes some powerful recommendations on why service provision must meet service user needs and how the recent equality legislation may provide impetus to this. All of this needs to start with examining the age boundaries on which mental healthcare is designed.

Predicting Willingness To Attain Telehealth Medical Treatment From Personality VariablesBelshe, Maxwell J 01 January 2024 (has links) (PDF)
The continued integration of technology into healthcare has made telehealth a vital resource. Yet, factors influencing individuals' willingness to seek telehealth treatment remain relatively underexplored. In this study, I examined the relationship between social media use, personal growth, environmental mastery, and social anxiety, as well as their relationship to college students’ willingness to utilize telehealth services. A sample of 402 participants was surveyed and a multiple regression analysis was conducted to assess these variables' abilities to predict willingness to use telehealth services. The model explained 10.6% of the variance in willingness to use telehealth with social media use and personal growth emerging as significant predictors. A follow-up multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) also was performed, comparing individuals with low versus high willingness to use telehealth on study variables. The results indicated significant differences across multiple dependent variables with social media use, personal growth, environmental mastery, and social anxiety significantly contributing to the model. These findings suggest that social anxiety, personal development factors, individuals’ competence in the management of their daily affairs, and digital engagement play key roles in shaping telehealth adoption, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions to increase accessibility.

Young Married Couples' Attitudes Toward ChildrenSoutherland, Gayle 08 1900 (has links)
This study investigated the relationship of certain independent variables and young married couples' attitudes toward children. Church leaders in Plano, Texas, administered the Hereford Parent Attitude Survey to couples from their churches. Ninety-seven subjects comprised the main sample group. The data were analyzed using t-tests and f-tests. Women had more positive attitudes toward children than men. Parents had more positive attitudes than childless subjects. Childless subjects who plan to have children had more positive attitudes toward children than subjects who did not plan to have children or who were not sure. Income level was related to confidence in parenting. Age and sex of children and education level were not related to attitudes toward children. Based on these findings, recommendations were made for future research and education.

Factors contributing to HIV and AIDS stigma among young adultsMokwena, Jabu Patrick January 2012 (has links)
Thesis (Ph.D. (Psychology)) -- University of Limpopo, 2012 / The aim of the study is to determine factors contributing to HIV and AIDS stigma among young adults at Polokwane municipality in the Capricorn district of Limpopo Province, South Africa. A total number of 325 participants were involved in the survey and five focus groups were involved in the qualitative study.
The participants’ ages were between 18 and 25 years. Biographical information entailing 14 items was used. Ten questions were used in five focus groups. For the survey, a nine-item stigma questionnaire was used as an independent variable. Dependent variables were the following scales: HIV knowledge, knowing a person with HIV and AIDS, family communication and perceived HIV and AIDS risk. The quantitative analysis shows that knowledge of HIV and AIDS, acquaintance with People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA), gender and socio-economic status, as well as stigmatisation of people living with HIV and AIDS, significantly influence stigmatisation of PLWHA. On the other hand, knowledge of one’s own status, affiliation to religion, family communication, perceived risk and cultural attachment played a limited role in the stigmatisation of people living with HIV and AIDS.
In view of the above findings, efforts need to be made to review programmes that are undertaken to create awareness about HIV and AIDS to improve HIV transmission knowledge. Constant interaction among PLWHA should be encouraged since this serves as a buffer to combat stigmatisation of PLWHA. There is a need for further research on gender, to explore in-depth reasons for stigmatisation of PLWHA, especially from females. Research also needs to be done in future to determine the factors that influence people from a high socio-economic level to stigmatise of PLWHA.

Factors Associated with body mass index among young adults in TaiwanLai, I-Ju 05 June 2003 (has links)
Obesity is a major public health problem and is a risk factor for
hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. In addition, the prevalence of
obesity appears to be increasing worldwide, making it important to determine
the nature and extent of obesity in populations at risk. The aim of this study
was to determine the predictors of body mass index (BMI) in Taiwanese adults
19 through 44 years old. Independent variables from the Nutrition and Health
Survey in Taiwan (NAHSIT) included biological factors (age and sex), dietary
factors (energy intake and fat intake), environmental factors (educational level,
residence area, and nutrition knowledge), and lifestyle factors (leisure time
physical activity, smoking habits, and alcohol consumption). Results indicated
that nearly 40% of the 1,182 adult survey participants were obese or
overweight, by Taiwanese standards. Regression analysis found that significant
predictors of BMI were residence area, educational level, and age. Taiwanese
adults more likely to have higher BMIs were from the mountainous area, had
less education. An increase in ten years of age was related to an average
increase in BMI of 1.13 kg/m (p<0.0001), controlling for other variables.
These three factors accounted for 21% of the variance in all adults (15% of the
variance in men, and 28% of the variance in women). In addition, smoking was
a predictor of higher BMI in males, and alcohol intake was a predictor for
higher BMI in females. Energy intake, fat intake, leisure time physical activity,
and nutrition knowledge were not significant predictors for either males or
females. The findings from this study will help public health professionals
identify target areas and program needs to reduce obesity in Taiwan,
particularly in the mountainous areas where the prevalence of
obesity/overweight was seventy percent. / Graduation date: 2004

"Så länge du har en LSS insats så lever du efter ett regelverk. Hur ska du då kunna bli integrerad i samhället?" : En kvalitativ studie om hur chefer och medarbetare uppfattar att omsorgen för unga vuxna med lindrig intellektuell funktionsnedsättning fungerar. / "When you live suported through the bounderies of the law, how can you ever be totally included?"Drangelid, Elin, Norberg, Josefin January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine how managers and employees experience the care for young adults with mild intellectual disabilities and if something needs to be done to make the support more adjusted to the these individuals. This was conducted with a qualitative study where two managers and two employees, who meets the target group of the study thought their profession, was interviewed. The interview guide covered the four main themes; normalization, individuality, alienation and social belonging. The results were analyzed through an inductive thematic analysis method through the theories SOC and empowerment. The most striking result was that the informants all agree that the support they have to offer isn’t adapted for the target group, especially when it comes to self-determination, building a family and labor market.
