The subject of graduation theses is design of urban cleaning unit. The machine belongs to the category of self-propelled work equipment. The primary purpose is the maintenance of areas of human settlements. The issue is examined in the existing products. Complete creative design is methodology developed and described. Output is ergonomic, composition, and graphic solution.

The thesis contains a proposal of street furniture series. Modular solution features the ability to adapt to different environments. Project works with the idea of originality notions of public space and creates distinctive places.

Cílem diplomové práce se stane návrh designu solárního pouličního osvětlení, které bude splňovat nároky na design v 21. století. Přípravné analýzy ukáží možné směry, kterými by se měl úspěšný design zvoleného projektu vydat. Průzkum současných projektů existujících ve veřejném prostoru rovněz odhalí hlavní nedostatky stávajících návrhů. Na základě těchto poznatků bude možné přistoupit k tvorbě několika variant designu, ze kterých bude zvolena finální verze. Tato verze bude zpracována dle určených specifikací s ohledem na platné normy pro veřejné osvětlení.

This work is dedicated to development of city furniture (station shed, bench, litter box). The first part contains the analysis of city furniture (historical, technical and design). Second part is dedicated to the design decision in particular. The main goal was to contemplate the design of station shed, which will be totally defending from bad weather; bench design, which would be impossible to be used as a ‘bed for homeless’; litter box, which would be aesthetically matching the shed and the bench. Additional task was to contemplate canopies of various sizes, enabling the city to install same type of canopies regardless of the size. The suggested design has been influenced by aesthetics, ergonomics, technology and other important aspects of industrial design.

In Zambia, it is true to say that people are politically free but materially still very poor, 49 years after independence which was attained in 1964. Many people lie below poverty datum-line and those that are, most hit, are the people living in rural areas. Many people are flocking from the rural areas to cities, leaving the old people, women and children in rural areas and in poverty. The levels of poverty in Zambia have reached a crisis, that even the president of Zambia, His Excellence Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata, acknowledged this fact during his parliamentary address to the second session of the 11th National assembly broadcast live on Zambia National broadcasting Network in September 2012. The church is challenged by conditions under which the rural dwellers find themselves in. As a church, our political liberation is to be transformed and driven by the will to restructuring and healing our society; thus ultimately developing those individuals who are suffering in the rural areas of the country. In Zambia, the church should accept that the missionaries who brought the gospel from western countries worked very well in the area of community development. The missionaries’ work and their care for the poor should inspire the churches today to be willing to help the poor rural people to be transformed. The good thing the United Church of Zambia could learn from the early missionaries is that the Christian church needs to be committed and involved in the plight of the poor. The church cannot ignore the socio – economic issues that affect rural poor communities. The United Church of Zambia should be transformed and made to understand that human liberation is not possible, if the political and economic issues are not equally addressed, a human being is not only the soul but also, consist of body and mind. The Christian church must bring a holistic ministry to the suffering people. The church; especially the United Church of Zambia, should understand that economic freedom is a reality which cannot be separated from people’s daily life. The church should learn to listen and act as ‘a midwife’ and a place of safety. She must be willing to suffer with the poor, for the sake of the poor. While the church is committed to development issues, let it also not lose sight of spiritual issues. Therefore, the church leadership should serve as a role model in human and community development. This essay explores the power dynamics embedded in the construction and perception of spatial environments in the novel The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. With the help of Henri Lefebvre’s theory of space as a socially constructed phenomenon and practice, this essay argues that the characters’ experience and perception of spaces in the novel including the house and the street are entangled with the dominating forces related to gender, identity and patriarchy in the surrounding society. The essay also argues that the novel apart from revealing these power dynamics, also, through its protagonist Esperanza suggests a new kind of space, an alternative and more just space for the individual and the community. Additionally, this essay also discusses and elaborates on the pedagogical implications of using the novel with a focus on space for upper secondary students. An investigation of how individual and social spaces functions in different ways in the novel provides valuable opportunities for teachers and students to reflect and discuss power relations, social injustices and inequities in their community, and allow them, as the protagonist Esperanza, to imagine alternative and more just spaces.

A novel approach to represent the profile of objects using Gaussian models is presented. The profile is a representation of the object and its surrounding regions. The object profile can be viewed as a comprehensive feature of that object and its surrounding regions. Different algorithms to estimate the profile are described. Geometric descriptors of the model are also proposed. The profile model is empirically shown to be effective and easily applicable to certain object recognition and segmentation tasks. Application experiments include modeling thin and thick objects as straight-lines, curves, and blobs using different primitives such as gray-level intensities, RGB, and HSV color. The datasets used for empirical validation are quite challenging. Datasets include images and videos corresponding to outdoor video, most of them with moving cameras. Some of the typical problems faced with the used datasets are: digital scaling, compression artifacts, camera jitter, weather effects, and cluttered backgrounds. We demonstrate the potential of leveraging the context of objects of interest as a part of an online detection process. Sample applications including detection of wires, sea horizon, street, and vehicles in outdoor videos are considered.

Mural art and its development in Czech republic This work deals with mural art as street art discipline. It briefly describes the development of muralism into the 20th century. Subsequently, he deals with the development of street art from the arrival of graffiti to the present, with the main emphasis being on mural art. The main part of the text shows this development in the Czech Republic, mentions the leading personalities of the Czech mural art scene and then maps its main centers and presents concrete examples of murals.
