Kvinnor och invandring i ett åldrande Japan : En poststrukturalistisk diskursanalys av problemrepresentation i japansk policy / Women and immigration in an ageing Japan : A poststructural discourse analysis of problem representation in Japanese policy

Blad, Torsten January 2019 (has links)
This study applies a poststructural discourse analysis developed by Carol Bacchi, called the WPR-approach, on Japanese ageing society-related policy. It utilises Foucauldian ideas about how policy creates rather than discovers ‘problems’ through representation, and what effects this can have. The purpose of the study is to analyse how the problems around women and immigration are represented in Japanese policy, if this representation has been affected by the ageing society, and what effects it may have on the people and politics of the country. The results show that both women and immigrants are mainly represented as resources for economic growth. Policy proposals show signs of having been affected by the ageing society, but the representation in the policies indicate that underlying social ideas about gender and immigration are not addressed. A conclusion is drawn that this focus may result in a lack of politics which tackle harmful traditional gender norms and xenophobia.

A PSS-based process : Towards the participation of elderly in co-development of sustainable habitat solutions

López, Itziar January 2013 (has links)
In response to the Ageing of our Society, a new paradigm is evolving that promotes healthy ageing and independency through self-care and wellbeing. The role of the living environments is crucial in the Ageing Society to promote wellbeing. Besides, elderly contribution through social participation is essential for their integration and inclusion in society. This thesis explores the case of Cooperative Housing for elderly in Sweden, a concept that promotes the participation of elderly in the design of their habitats. The research is oriented towards a smoother inclusion of elderly in participatory processes aimed at developing sustainable and need-satisfying habitat solutions for elderly. To do this the author explored how the concepts of PSS, Design Thinking, Human Needs and Needfinding could inform the design of those participatory processes. Based on the results of interviews, questionnaires and three case studies on Cooperative Housing, a set of three distinguished types of recommendations was developed to guide the design of future participatory processes: overarching models, process enablers and specific methods and tools for each of the process phases. Mainly, the discussion focuses on the concepts of PSS, human needs-centered design and sustainability, and how those can enable a smoother inclusion of elderly. / Joaquin Collar 8 8ºE, 01002 Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain +34690666663

Metamorfózy mezigeneračních vztahů v rodině / Metamorphoses of intergenerational relationships in the family

Dvořáková, Andrea January 2015 (has links)
(in English) The subject of this thesis is the metamorphosis of intergenerational relationships within the family, which occur in the context of the social process of aging. The contemporary demographic trend has its deeper socio-economic context that currently the social policy of the state does not sufficiently reflect. It is necessary to perceive demographic aging as a metamorphosis of life cycle. The aim of this thesis is to present the proposition that the quality of intergenerational relationships is based on the entire life cycle of an individual, and therefore the reciprocity in the family can be influenced by appropriate measures of social policy. The aim of the thesis is (based on the available theoretical knowledge, using secondary data analysis and comparison of the data) to confirm the broader context of demographic aging and draw attention to the fact that in the preparation of social and political reform measures must deal with all relevant processes and not just the area of pension insurance.
