« Cheminer avec Dieu » : pentecôtisme et migration à Bruxelles/« To walk with God » : Pentecostalism and migration in Brussels

Maskens, Maïté 22 June 2010 (has links)
During the past thirty years, Pentecostal churches, mostly composed by followers from Subsaharan Africa and Latin America, blossomed in Brussels. Their presence and growing success go hand in hand with the intensification of the migratory flows, the last three decades, from these two continents. This thesis investigates the relationship between the religious experience and the migratory route of the euro-African and euro-Latin-American Pentecostal actors in Brussels. In these meeting spaces, the converts work collectively to realise the transformation process encouraged by the religious scenario which consists in applying the perfect " plan of God " to their life. Carriers of missionary ambitions, the believers give new contents to their identity by redefining the place which is assigned to them in the context of post-colonial Belgium. The religious membership operates as a marker of distinction, a process which is particularly striking in the field of sexuality and gender relation maintained within the assemblies.

Att vårda på lika villkor : Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av tjänstgöring i en internationell militär insats

Lundin, Mattias, Wennerlund, Petter January 1900 (has links)
Title. To care on equal terms – Registered nurses experiences of duty in an international military operation. Aim. To describe registered nurses experience of providing patient care on equal terms in a Swedish international military operation. Background. Reg. nurses provide care to a variety of patients during an international military operation. Those patients may be civilians as well as military. Among them may be friends, allies or enemies. According to Swedish and international law all patients has the right to recieve medical care. The number of reg. nurses who will participate in international military operations will increase, yet there are few studies about experiences of providing care on equal terms to patients in this setting. Method. A qualitative study based on interviews was used. Nine Swedish reg. nurses were interviewed. The data was analysed using a qualitative content analysis. Findings. Three themes emerged. Feelings in nursing, conditions in nursing and ambitions in nursing. Reg. nurses describe different feelings such as frustration and anger. The conditions reg. nurses have to work in are often dangerous and with limited resources. Reg. nurses have an ambition to provide care on equal terms but find it difficult to do so. Conclusion. Reg. nurses describe that it is difficult to provide care on equal terms. Patients are not always provided equal care. The ambition is to give patients care on equal terms, but in a situation when a choice has to be made, reg. nurses tend to care for friends first.

Youth and habitus at three Australian schools: perceptions of ambitions, risks and the future in reflexive modernity

Threadgold, Steven January 2009 (has links)
Research Doctorate - Doctor of Philosphy (PhD) / This research applies Bourdieu’s theorising of habitus and cultural capital to understand how class mediates young people’s reflexivity and perceptions of risk. It engages with the theories of reflexive modernity, primarily with the work of Beck and Giddens, who both describe recent processes of individualization, detraditionalization and the increasing importance of the concept of risk. The study seeks to critically engage with Bourdieu’s project, reworking some of his key theoretical ideas such as the possibility of ‘reflexivity’ itself being a new form of embodied cultural capital. It also engages with works that see discourses of risk as central to neo-liberal governmentality. The research entails 380 surveys and nine focus groups at three distinct secondary schools in a large regional Australian city – a public high school in an outer suburb low socio-economic area of the city which offers a specialist sports program; an inner suburb academically-selective public high school where pupils gain an offer of enrolment only through rigorous academic testing; and an expensive private college in the middle of the central business district. Year Eleven and Twelve students (16-18 years) at the three schools were asked about their ambitions; the obstacles they think may stand in the way of achieving their ambitions; and about their perceptions and experiences of inequality and risk. The risks discussed include the problems involved in the day-to-day life of young people as well as their engagement with larger risk discourses about technology and the environment. The data highlights how inequality is experienced or denied by some, and analysed from a distance by others. Reflexivity is present regardless of class position, but is expressed in a variety of ways. There are clear and subtle distinctions in engagement with micro and macro level risks. Overall, the data highlights how class continues to shape practice, perceptions and emotions.

Europe taking the lead in responsible globalisation

Aiginger, Karl, Handler, Heinz 07 July 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Political opposition to globalisation has risen in industrialized countries, although the positive overall effects on the growth of the world economy and the alleviation of poverty are empirically verifiable. However, the effects of globalisation vary according to regions, professional groups, and education. In the period of intensive globalisation, unemployment and inequality have risen, and people feel their lives to be determined by forces they cannot influence. Since the many new challenges, such as climate protection, can be better solved by worldwide efforts, it is indispensable to avoid new national barriers and to strengthen the endorsement of globalisation and the concomitant welfare effects. However, it is also necessary to respect cultural differences in preferences and to view globalisation as a search and learning process. Instruments for the implementation of such a strategy may vary according to regional specifics. Social and ecological goals - gaining higher importance with rising per capita incomes - are well-represented in the European model, but for worldwide solutions other socio-economic models will offer preferences and solutions. Apart from the announced partial withdrawal of the United States from globalisation and the upcoming dominance of China in world affairs and large scale investment, Europe would be well-advised to take a greater responsibility if not the lead in determining the rules of globalisation. Based on an opinion-forming process within Europe, responsible globalisation can significantly improve the quality of life in Europe and its partners worldwide.

Ambície, (ne)úspechy a perspektívy krajín BRICS / Amibitons, acomplishments and perspectives of the BRICS countries.

Beleščák, Dušan January 2013 (has links)
The primary objective of this work is to comprehensively evaluate the capacity of the BRICS to achieve its objectives by mutual cooperation, based on the confrontation of the declared aims of the group itself during its annual summits with real achievements. The secondary aim of the study is to estimate the direction in which the cooperation between the BRICS will be heading in the future and to define possible challenges threatening its success. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part the author describes the genesis of the term "BRICS", and then continues by describing the essential characteristics of individual BRICS countries and their mutual similarities and differences. In the second, main part, the author evaluates the extent of fulfillment of individual goals set during the BRICS summits, taking place annually since 2009. The author evaluates seven selected key goals by analyzing the reasons for their implementation, proposed methods of implementation, the steps taken for their fulfillment, the effectiveness of these steps and the current status. Subsequently, in a similar manner author evaluates several sub-targets. In the third part, the author presents the expectations for the forthcoming BRICS summit, outlines possible directions that will be taken by BRICS in the future and identifies the weaknesses threatening their successful cooperation.

Space power ambitions of Sweden and France

Eklund, Hampus January 2021 (has links)
The escalating technological advancements within the space sector creates new national security threats as both military and commercial actors now inhibit the space domain. By developing a separate branch within a nation's military, these kinds of new threats can be handled. However, not all countries develop a space branch. This study describes two separate cases, Sweden who has the possibility yet does not have a space force and France who has both the possibility and a military branch focused on the space domain. The findings show that Sweden's political leaders approach militarisation of space differently than France who has a historically strong political vision of space power. In order to achieve space power, this study indicates that a nation needs both vision as well as possibilities. As a result of these findings, and for future studies within the same area, a proto theoretical framework has been designed to categorize a nation based on its visions and possibilities for space power.

Välja den politiska vägen som ung kvinna? : En kvalitativ fallstudie om vad som driver unga kvinnor tilldeltagande i partipolitiska ungdomsförbund och framtida karriärambitioner inom politiken. / Choosing the political path as a young woman? : A qualitative case study on young women's motivationsfor political invovlement in youth organisations and future career apsirations in politics.

Johansson, Rebecka January 2023 (has links)
Involvement in political youth organisations is explained in terms of social, moral-ideological,and career-driven incentives. However, previous studies have not examined women’smotivations. This single case study answers and explains why young women engage in politicalyouth organisations and which incitements drive them. The study also explains what youngwomen’s plans for a political career looks like and whether systematic patterns can be discerned.By using in-depth interviews, seven young women in the Swedish political youth party “SocialDemocratic Youth League of Sweden” (SSU), are interviewed. This analysis shows that womenare not primary driven by political career ambitions, instead social and moral-ideologicalincentives are the primary factors for their involvement. Young women perceive barriers topursuing a political career and would rather work in a “regular” profession in the future thanhave a political career.

Účetnictví v chovu ryb / ACCOUNTING IN ACQUACULTURE

TELECKÝ, Martin January 2014 (has links)
Accounting as a fundamental basis for reporting the property, resources, results of economic performance, as well as an indirect background material for monitoring parameters of the environment, evaluation of legislation changes and also political ambitions, represents an irreplaceable and, at the same time, complex activity. Accounting is based upon the basic standards and legislation, but it cannot grasp all. What is more, this industry is very specific and locally dependent.
